I only saw one suggestion for this (or maybe my Lioden google-fu just sucks) and it was rejected due to being unrealistic and overly complicated to code. Also I'm a newby so just correct me if I'm wrong. So, as a queer woman I feel a bit put out playing as a male. I don't mind it because of game dynamics blah blah blah, I just would really enjoy having my pride and joy that's the first thing everyone sees be more representitive of myself. So my version would work like this: As a heir option you can pick a female. Simple enough to code, you would just have it link to and display her page, unless there is something I'm not thinking of there. She cannot get the previous male's markings or anything. Would need a unique name. If this was a second generation female leader, it would be up to the admins to figure out if makings could pass or not. I don't know what to think there. This female can "impress" or "sway" new members, with it possibly being a bit more difficult, but she cannot magically breed with her pride. All cubs in a female run pride would have to be from studding. If we want to play hard, it's going to be expensive too. New members cannot roll females, because there is no way for a lone female to make herself a pride. Already having one established to take over is more realistic than a female hoarding other females she happens upon. Maybe lower impressivness increases? This female cannot hunt, just like the males. She does not take up territory. Perhaps this female cannot breed, or have limited breedings. Still working this part out, but a female who is busy leading doesn't have time to raise her own cubs. Possibly the cubs have a lower survival chance? If that's reasonable to code. Or maybe she can still breed as normal, whatever is easiest to code. This would obviously be optional. The female would do everything the male does, stand around and look pretty until needed to fight or explore. Objections I can forsee: Not realistic: We can breed bright red dwarves with tigerstripes and they somehow make it to adulthood and can hunt and breed. None of that is possible in life. A dwarf lion would not be able to hunt or compete wih its siblings for milk. It would die. A female dwarf giving birth to regular sized cubs would die, adult lions are thousands of pounds. A bright red lion would be killed by predators as a cub and would be visible to prey. I don't even have to give a reason for tigerstripes being unrealistic. This is a game kids, and its optional not being forced down your throat. Different gameplay styles AKA your big buff male only fights other big buff males for territory, just like RL, females would disrupt this expirience: My prefered gameplay style isn't even an option. Being a big buff male disrupts my expirience and enjoyment, this isnt an option. In equality and fairness to the players, everyone should be able to play their way to the best of the games abilities, whatever they shall be. This option would also be benificial to players who have a Warriors style gameplay, since they can have female 'stars. Leaderly decor doesn't fit/I want a cool crown thats only for males: Sucks to be us, we're big kids we can deal with it. Dificult to code: Understandable, my apologies and thank you for your consideration. I think that covers all my thoughts, please feel free to rebuff me and debate this option. Who knows, maybe I'm being absolutely ridiculous and I just don't know it. Edit: If you don't support, why? I would love to hear the reasons and have this be a discussion. Afterall, we can only work out the kinks in things through communication. |
