LIODEN - LOOKING FOR ARTISTS

We’re looking for an artist to work on Lioden’s complex and dynamic decors.
We are NOT looking for amateur artists, you have to know how to do things - but we do not require a CV either.

Position will be paid and will require you to sign a contract, so we’re looking only for people who meet legal working age criteria within their country.

What we’re looking for:

1. Ability to match our official art style and anatomy requirements enough to not stand out from the scene’s art.
   
2. Ability to draw same item for every stage/gender/age of our lions and stay consistent.
   
3. Ability to meet deadlines if given them (ie. event items).
   
4. Ability to stay in touch, good communication, not disappearing for long days.

If you’re more of a background artist, you’re welcome to apply the position with a note you’re a BG artist. We could hire one decor artist and one BG artist then.

What this position brings:
- For event decors, you will be provided a list of ideas and able to add your own and vote out the ones you would rather not do - Event decors have deadlines.

- For non-event decor on site, you will be provided a list of decors that need to be done, but also will have full freedom of proposing your own ideas full year round and doing them at your own pace without deadlines.

- 99% of freedom when it comes to concepts, posing, staging, colours etc, unless something has to be very specific, then it will be stated.
- Ability to bring user suggestions for decors to life.
- Ability to talk with Xylax about any art ideas and improvements except main lion game art, which is fully handled by Xylax.
- We do not require progress pictures for everything unless you want to share, we also do not require your .psd files.
- You will be required to keep in touch a lot - if for any reason you will have any delay or long offline time, you will have to let #4 know about it in advance.

PAYMENT

This is shown to make you consider this or not if you have a job already - Lioden art is time consuming and we’re looking for somebody who can produce a lot - if you can afford the time, these are the stakes:

Initial monthly limit to the paycheck - $400. (Background artist - $200). We’ll be paying per decor type and work:

* $7 static decor - example: Butterflies, Flowers, Most Feathers
* $3 per recolour if there’s such option
* $7 dynamic decor per stage (manes are not stages, it’s a simple edit) - example: Feather Headdresses, Bone Armor, Demon Wings - currently adds up to 91$ for all ages/genders/poses for 1 dynamic decor.
* $3 per recolour if there’s such option - adds up to 39$
* $40 background - example: Rocky Waterfall, Knysna Lagoon, Badlands
* $60 dynamic background - example: any [D] Lioden background with night/season variation

If you’ll prove to be an inseparable team member with amazing cooperation and time invested, these prices / limits might raise. If for any reason you’d have to resign, we will give you our recommendation for future work.

Artist Challenge:

We’ve decided to pick the new artist based on portfolio and a form of contest. You are somebody who is going to match another person’s art style and will have to be very flexible and aware of not being fully individual here - you’re helping out, and we do appreciate you having your own style, but this is about visual integrity

Submission has to contain your Username, Lioden ID, current city/country, Age, Skype contact, name of Art programs used, and requirements fulfilled:

Background and Decor artist Requirement 1:
Attach up to 10 pieces of your best artwork no matter the content or artstyle.

Optional:
If you ever made custom decors for Lioden, please include your ID and name of the decors (even if you’re just the artist and not the actual decor creator)
Optional:
If you ever sold art on Lioden, include links to the threads.
Optional:
If you have an art gallery/online portfolio, you can include the link.

Decor artist Requirement 2 - winner will get their decors implemented if matching African theme.
Fulfill this art challenge like you’d be working for Lioden already. Use LINK (.psd) for arting. Provide us with a 640x500 preview WITH a lion, and also the actual .png of the art. Pick any 3 of this list, at least 1 dynamic.
* Static: Any butterfly you like for 1 lion stage
* Dynamic: Any horn type you like for 3 lion stages
* Static: Any fluffy animal you like for 1 lion stage
* Static: Any hooved animal you like for 1 lion stage
* Dynamic: Any feather you like for 3 lion stages
* Dynamic: Any flower/flowering branch you like for 3 lion stages
* Dynamic: Any other decorative item you like for 3 lion stages
* Static: Any tree/big plant you like for 1 lion stage (behind)
* Static: Any foreground (such as ferns or rocks) you like for 1 lion stage
* Dynamic: Any lion age or pose you like and draw a lion interacting with the main lion art for 1 lion stage (if picked you’d be asked to expand this decor to all stages ;D)

Hint: we like when decors compliment the lions, not obstruct them

Background artist Requirement 2 - winner will get their background released.
Final size of art is 640x500 and you have to remember about ground space for lions. Pick any 1 of this list:

* Static: African Savannah background of any time and season
* Static: Secluded Den of a Lion pride
* Static: African River at any time and season
* Static: Any type of interesting African foliage: Bushveld, Shrubland, Woodland, Fynbos, etc
* Dynamic: Any type of a background you’d like to draw saved as 4 separate files for each season/time

Hint: we prefer when the backgrounds aren’t too dark, to not make the lion lineart be much lighter than what’s behind. We also prefer when the ground is in lighter shade than shadow of lion’s lineart as well.

ART TIPS:
* Lioden does not use black colour in any form. Linearts and shading etc are expressed by colours such as: 161313, 20160D etc. to match hot and dusty feeling of Africa.
* Lioden’s linearts are not refined and thick. They are sketchy like a pencil work. Soft, happy little lines.
* We usually don’t require decors to have separate linearts - main Lion art has to have that for marking purposes. Decors that require recolour, however, do require separate lineart layer. Other than that you can treat decors as tiny paintings as long as the art style matches.

* With example above, with lineart separate, recolours are a breeze: LINK
* Reference, but do not copy. Do not eyeball, do not trace. You can open 60 lion pictures and use them as angle/proportion/anatomy help but do not make your art look exactly like the photo you used. Frankensteining photos is also a no-go.

IF HIRED - Any art that you create while working for Lioden becomes the intellectual property of Lioden LTD - although you are allowed to display the released work on your own personal/work portfolios.
