Yes I agree, every time I go to make an offer on a trade this comes to mind, I never got around to making a suggestion about it til now :D

Great idea. When received, it could go to game notifications like normal, with the addendum, "X has made an offer on your trade, with the message, 'Can I do a mixed SB/GB payment?'"

Then, there ideally would be a button on the trade for the trader to respond to that message. The message would get sent to the offering party in their usual game notifications section, "There has been a response to your trade offer: "Sure, I'll take a mix at 1200Sb per GB."

The button creates a little pop up text box, perhaps?

And then - an additional thing I've longed for - the ability to

revise your offer

instead of having to make a new one, based on the communication with the trader! So you could actually haggle!

Of course, the message would go, "X has revised their offer on your trade."

I believe, that with the lion-selling economy being, basically, in a severe downtown, it might aid people in selling things - I and everyone in my clan have noticed that their lions simply do not sell at all unless priced at fodder levels and they end up chasing or treeing very good lions. Maybe the ability to communicate on trades would help the economy function in a more lively fashion?

I know that I personally have no problem haggling downward for people, and it seems like this would actually allow for proper haggling to take place? Some back and forth communication and a price agreed upon? Sounds great to me.

The only potential issue I see is the messages adding some strain on the system that juggles PMs and such; however, I am not a programmer or sysadmin.

I've also been wanting the haggling thing, but it could go wrong in a way - what if the person clicks "accept" on the offer just after the person has changed it without yet knowing it was modified? ;o; that sounds like it could cause some drama

Supporting! This reminds me of an idea I had once- the ability to say why when you're removing your offer [or stud request]. Many times, I've had people remove their offer on my trade before I even got to see what the offer was, and I forever wondered, "Why?"
