Day 129, year 2132

It all started fifty years ago, the day scientists had called the "coldest day in human history". But they never really knew what actual cold is. Every place, everywhere, the temperatures had reached their lowest. Even in the countries everyone envied because of their endless summers, that day had been the beginning of life as we know it today. And there was no changing it.

They couldn't have anticipated that the one day celebrated world-wide as a remarkable natural event, wouldn't last for longer than a few weeks. They were wrong. And with every passing hour, every passing day, it grew colder and colder. And while the cold lowered, reaching temperatures that threatened human lives, chaos rose.

Cities were a mess. It didn't take more than a few weeks for power to die out for the most part. Homes, security facilities, hospitals...everything was faded into an absolute blackout. Every means of communication shattered by wind and snow and ice. Every city was isolated, no way in or out. And soon after the blackout came the scarceness.

People died left and right. Hunger, illness, suicides, frozen in their sleep. Things such as governments and "helping the other" were long forgotten. Anarchy was the new queen of the Frozen World. At least until the HSP decided to do a take over.

The HSP, or "Human Survival Project", started helping people. They took them in, sheltered them. The strength of unity and things like those. They were settled in a massive compound in the middle of no-where and seemed to be almost completely self-sufficient. They even had a frigging generator which allowed them to power their main necessities, such as their health services. But you know, if it looks to good to be real, then it probably isn't.

The HSP soon became what we know to us as the Wolves. The worst insult nowadays. Something, or if I choose my words better, someone decided to one eighty their selfless route of actions. They decided that only the Freezing was a test for human race. A Darwinian test sent to us so that only the strongest could remain. The HSP then revealed its true colors to everyone, including their own members.

They trained their followers hard. Physically, mentally...if you didn't make it you were weak, didn't deserve to be with them. So they threw you out on your own into the open or, if you were on a lucky day, killed you on the spot. They attacked our groups, killed us, took the young ones away to be turned into their wolf soldiers and gained power over the little resources we had. Maybe if you were a decent combatant they took you in too, tried to brainwash you.

We on the other hand chose a much harsher but free life. Nomads we are. Our groups used to range from five to twenty people, until the HSP decided to go murderous on us and so we united. We still are divided, if we were to remain together not only would we be a much easier target but also we wouldn't get enough resources. The difference being that now we have a place were, at the end of the day, we al go back to. In other words, each group feeds and keeps after themseles, but when the temperatures frop even more and the darkness provides the worst dangers, we look after each other.

Role-play Rules

~ This role-play accepts somewhat mature themes as long as this are developed under the rules established by LioDen. If anything concerning a mature theme (mating, graphic deaths, gory subjects, etc.) is to take place in the RP, it must be 'faded to black'. If you wish to role-play it anyways, you can arrange with your partner to do so through another platform outside of LioDen.

~ Be respectful towards everyone. Bad characters can be likable, bad people are not. Treat your fellow role-players with respect and patience. As the old saying goes, treat others the way you want to be treated. I want mature and funny people in my role-play, not bullies and rude persons.

~ Be active. I'm personally taking it as a promise to compromise with the role-play if you sign up ._. Ok no, but seriously, role-playing is all about dynamism and fluidity and if your characters are interacting with someone and you suddenly disappear, you are not just perjudicing yourself. I will me extra-careful with the inactivity issue.

~ This a semi-literate to literate role-play. The best grammar and spelling you can offer is expected and posts shouldn't be any shorter than a good five or six-lined paragraph. We'll understand if you are having a rough day or if your muse hit herself with her lire and is not being cooperative, but try to give it your best.

~ Character limit per person is 3. Exceptions can be asked for. The limit is applicable only to active characters, meaning that if one character dies/disappears/turns into a npced feral chicken one of the slots is free again and you can make another.

~ Romantic relationships between your own characters are not accepted. They can be siblings, nephews, fifth cousins removed anything you want but reserve their romantic affiliations for the role-play. You know, conquering the heart of the one can be tons of fun.

~ Godmodding, power-playing or other displays of horrible role-playing won't be tolerated. These are not only clear evidences of bad-roleplaying, they are unfair, unacceptable overtaking of others will and characters. The first instance will be a warning, the second a temporary ban and the third one a permanent banning from the role-play.

~ Please, please, please, pretty please put good work into your character sheets. They are really fun to make if you put your heart into it. Plus, not only do I love reading fleshed out characters, it will make it a lot easier knowing how your character would act or react in the actual role-play. Furthermore, I'd like to ask you to remain loyal to what your character is. I mean, a character who has a very sweet and caring personality probably wouldn't find it in themselves to mercilessly kill an innocent person (unless there is a justifying cause underneath or a proper character development threw them towards that side of the scale).

"We are the Human Survival Project, or HSP. Our sole objective is ensuring that the strongest of the human kind survive the new Ice Age, so that we can then grow again, stronger, ready for whatever cataclysm Mother Nature throws our way. It happened once and we must be ready for when it happens again.

Our members are subjected to training, they are expected to meet the requirements in order to remain with us. We have soldiers, medics, researchers, scouts. We push all of them to their physical or mental breaking point respectively, we must make sure they are strong enough, capable of protecting and ensuring the well-being of our kind. But some people are too blind to see the good behind our actions.

We know some of our methods and resolutions would be questioned by old, obsolete minds that do not see the graveness of our need, of our task. But not everyone can be saved. Nature had set that rule far before we came into existence. The weak perish and the strong live, giving way to even stronger individuals. It is not evilness, it is evolution. And the Freezing only threw upon us the result of years of creating weakness. We say no more. We must better ourselves in order to conquer this new world."

Headquarters:
The HSP are settled in an enormous complex building they call the "Zero" (from Zero Degrees). The compound is out in the open, surrounded by approximately a mile of fairly flat, white snow. This allows the sentinels to watch out for incoming threats, they will see you coming from a very safe distance away. Well, unless you know how to hide.

- Leader -
The maximum authority within the HSP, the Leader is in charge of organizing, administrating and regulating any and all of the projects or actions taken by all members of the HSP. He/She is also the one in charge of delivering punishments or rewards for all members. He is the figure of authority and must be respected, always.

- Seconds in Command -

Being quite a large organization, the Leader chooses four Seconds in Command. They have all the same capabilities as the Leader and can exercise them as long as they don't clash with the Leader's orders. They are to report to the Leader and are usually (though not always) quite close to him/her. Most often than not, the Seconds in command are two dedicated to Soldiers, Scavengers and Scouts and two in charge of Scientists, Researchers and Medics.

- Soldiers -

Soldiers are trained together with Scouts and Scavengers, but they follow a route more akin to combat, strategy and defense. They are employed in the defense of the Zero and sent to support Scouts in the attacking and seizing of Nomads. They are experts of combat and weapon weilding.

Trained together with Soldiers and Scavengers, Scouts are the ones who go out into the open with the purpose of finding unknown buildings, territory but primarily, Nomads. Usually sent out in groups of five to seven, they are the ones who have earned the HSP members the nickname of "Wolves". They are to report any Nomads sighting and, if they see they are in a capable possition, attack them. They must seize the young ones and bring them into the HSP for training and dispose of the rest (unless the adult individual displays certain apptitude for combat or knowledge, in which case they are also to be taken to the Zero).

- Scavengers -

The herds alone aren't enough to feed and mantain the members of the HSP. The Scavengers are to find and bring back any valuable resources or, if unable to bring them back, report their position. They search for wild herds, medicine, weapons, tools or even relatively decent structures to set up research stations.

Scientists are trained together with Medics and Researchers. Their main purpose being the study of the changes in flora and fauna since the Freezing started. They work towards making the herds and crops more resistant to the harsh environment as well as studying the specimens researchers bring back to the Zero. They also search to create new medicines, with the resources that they have available. Sometimes they work alongside Medics, specially when studying a specific disease.

Researchers are the scientists specialized in field-investigation. They are fairly capable of defending themselves though they are highly suggested to avoid conflict. They seek to bring in samples or specimens of both flora, fauna and some supply deposits. They also investigate the liability of certain areas (caves, woods, and cities). Researchers are slightly more oriented towards geography, anthropology and field biology.

The ones in charge of keeping the others alive. Medics are doctors. They tend to the ill and the wounded. Medics might be sent out together with Researchers, Scouts or Soldiers in order to have immediate attention to any posible accident, infection or disease. They must run physicals and check ups of all members every a couple of months and also of any of the newcomers.

The Nomads

"We are the Nomads. Ever since the Freezing, we have survived drawing upon our late instincts. We grouped together. We fought together, we took care of each other. And we never stayed on the same place for too long. Among us there used to be no leaders, our groups were mostly formed by family and friends, with some other groups we traded and others...we had to fight.

As Nomads we were more than once at the mercy of the elements and the predators, specially after the sun set, temperatures lowered and wolves and snow leopards and worse were out on the hunt. Prey and resources were scarce, they still are, but we made it work. The remaining of us were the ones who didn't trust or hadn't come across the HSP, and we were lucky to do so. They soon became more dangerous than any animal we could imagine.

They took people, kidnapped them. Then brainwashed them and turned them into more of their soldiers, or killed them. The ones they didn't take, they disposed of. Shooting us down like rabid dogs was like second nature to them. And it didn't take us long that scattered, hungry and fighting with all our energy to get hold of the resources that satisfied our daily needs, we were at a disadvantage. Nomads had to unite to fight a common enemy.

And we did. We grouped together and went into hiding. Only during the day, we came out and nights we spent together inside the Cave. We forgot any feuds we had with fellow groups, and started to look after every one of us. We still remained sorted into groups, our only task being keeping our group alive and fed, bring any surplus goods back to the Cave, alert the sighting of HSP members, whom we called the "Wolves". They weren't fitting of any other name. They were vicious and merciless creatures. And all we do, is fight for our freedom and our lives, under the guidance of our leader, our Harbinger."

Headquarters:
The Nomads have settled in the Cave, a cavernous mountain that keeps them safe from the environment and hidden from their enemies. The Cave has been divided into Levels. On two of them the Nomads have set up their tents and living spaces, usually remaining close to the ones they knew from before they all united. Nomads tend to let new groups or people into their big, big family but keep a close eye on them until they earn their trust.

- The Harbinger -

The Harbinger is the person the Nomads see as their leader. Though most of the work inside the Nomads is done independently, the Harbinger is in charge of organizing and deciding any matter that concerns the Nomads as a whole. He/She sets the general rules, and sees that they are kept to. The Harbinger has the authority to expel anyone, or any group, out of the Cave and is also in charge of punishing or rewarding any member of the Nomads.

- The Chiefs -

The Chiefs are the ones that help the Harbinger, the second most important figures of authority. They are usually the head of any larger scaled movement of the Nomads and are also in charge of seeing that the rules are respected and the peace kept among the Nomads. The Chiefs are also in charge of administering the surplus resources brought into the Cave and distributing them.

The Hunters are the Nomads in charge of hunting down wild herds, feeding themselves and bringing back food for all those who can't go out the Cave (children, elders, shamans, etc.). They are the main providers of food and resources. Hunters are also quite capable of fighting, even if that is not their main objective.

The Nomad's soldiers. Sentinels patrol the territories close to the cave, and the ones farther too. They are also in charge of the protection of the Cave and the ones inside it. Sentinels are ordered to attack any HSP groups on sight and to eradicate any threat that is too close to the Cave (such as predators).

Shamans are the Nomads that hold enough knowledge of herbs, plants and other substances to make beverages and remedies. Think of them as homeopaths. They treat illness and wounds with the resources they have, and are quite amazing at doing so. They sometimes accompany hunters or sentinels outside the Cave. Shamans don't like being called shamans because the name denotes some kind of witch doctoresque connotation (they prefer being called simply doctors), but they got accustomed to it.

A Latino man standing around 6'2" and weighing 190 pounds. His build is fairly fit and well-muscled without being exaggerated. Casimiro has brown skin, a tone somewhere between light and dark. His eyes are upturned and a pale shade of gray, though if looked at very closely one might notice faint flecks of green surrounding the pupil. His hair is jet black, kept cut short and straight. If allowed to grow out it naturally becomes mildly wavy at the ends. His face is somewhat triangular in shape, features neither soft nor exceedingly sharp. Tattoos of a sooty owl's wing decorate each shoulder blade and stretch out along the upper arm. A little like this.

❆Personality❆
Brooding and reserved, Casimiro isn't really the sort of guy anyone would expect to be a leader. Truth be told, he doesn't want the role, but in times like these the needs of others must come before one's own desires. Without a leader the unified nomads would fall apart in the chaos that came after. To the HSP he's a vicious force to be reckoned with. He has pity for those kidnapped and brainwashed to do their bidding, but won't let personal feelings get in the way of keeping his people out of harms way. Sacrifices must be made. He is not without guilt, but sometimes being the boss means making the decisions no one else can or will. Those decisions aren't always kind or easy, but must be made all the same.

With his own he's much softer in demeanor if not a bit socially awkward, He near constantly doubts his effectiveness as a leader even if he never brings up such concerns aloud and considers the chiefs an asset, often turning to them for advice even if he doesn't always heed their words. Casimiro is about as stubborn as a mule and once he has his mind set on something there isn't much that can change it. Regardless he appreciates their candor and support, personally working to be more accepting of other's suggestions. He's a bit foolhardy and has a habit of trying to do too much on his own which may leave the other higher ups frustrated with him.

Casimiro grew up in a small family group made up of just his parents, maternal grandparents, paternal aunt and cousin until the Nomads joined together. He was only four years old at the time and doesn't remember much before the days of unification. His mother Calista was chosen as the formal leader of the Nomads only a month after previously rival families agreed to begin working in unison in order to defeat the efforts of the HSP.

Casimiro was trained as a sentinel once he came of age and assumed it was the position he would hold for life. He was content serving as a soldier and didn't feel any need to advance his rank though the chance was offered to him many times. It would seem fate had other ideas as his mother suffered a fatal wound after having an unfortunate encounter with a patrol of HSP scouts and soldiers. As her first born it was his right to take her place and so he did with clear reluctance.

He had a family of his own to worry about, a wife and two daughters, and knew if he didn't claim leadership the Nomads would fall to strife and inner turmoil as others attempted to claim the throne for themselves. It was the last thing they needed. Casimiro has always known loss. Everyone's lost someone, either to the HSP, the weather or predators, but his mother's death would not be his last personal tragedy. His wife Diana fell ill, eventually passing away from her incurable sickness and her sister Jessica disappeared in the middle of the night, defecting to the HSP for reasons unknown.

Jessica is a young lady of average height at around 5'8". She has deep brown skin, shoulder length curly black hair and eyes as dark as a chunk of obsidian. Her frame is muscular and sturdy, making her perhaps a bit heavier than a woman of her height would be on average at 170 pounds. Jessica's face is shaped like a diamond, complete with defined cheekbones, full lips and eyes that curve slightly at the ends. Her body still retains subtle curving, but she isn't really the type anyone would consider naturally feminine, though some people might also say she has a rather rustic sort of beauty about her. Either way neither her stockier build nor her appearance are all that important to her. She's strong and a woman regardless. If anyone has a problem with it that's their issue as far as she's concerned.

Jessica is a determined and driven individual. She is loyal at her core and fairly intelligent, but tends to lean more on the mischievous side. Her sense of humor isn't everyone's cup of tea and she can at times be both overly blunt and unintentionally hurtful. She likes to joke around, but becomes very serious when the circumstances call for it. Fierce and protective, she'll often take to safeguarding anyone that comes under her care whether they need it or not, as it is what she was taught to do her whole life.

Despite being almost insanely strong she chose the role of a researcher over a soldier. Once her temper flares she sees red and often does or says things she regrets later. Putting a weapon in her hands and allowing her the authority to potentially harm others leaves her frightened of what she might be capable of. Besides that, she's always been interested in the world around her and how it works. Plants and animals especially fascinate her and are more often than not what she's drawn to the most and holds the vastest knowledge of.

Her demeanor is generally friendly and she's capable of working well with others, but most likely won't tolerate condescending behavior from her co-workers. She doesn't necessarily agree with all of the HSP's rules and is especially resentful of booting people out to the wilderness to die or else shooting them right then and there for not meeting the leader's standards, but is convinced this is the place for her now. The HSP has all the more advanced resources and information. For now they are the answer to human survival. Beneath the surface is someone far more depressed than she lets on, unable to let go of her sister's death.

Jessica and her older sister Diana were orphans, taken in by the newly unified group of Nomads when they were found wandering alone in the snow. Their own family unit had been picked off by predators, but miraculously the girls had survived on their own in the wilderness for nearly a month, mostly thanks to Diana's resourcefulness. They were as close as two sisters could be and nearly inseparable. When Diana married Casimiro she was unsure how to feel about him, but eventually accepted the odd man as part of the family. Up until Diana got sick.

In her desperation to get her beloved sister well she turned to a contact she had in the HSP who offered to provide her with medicine. She made the mistake of bringing it up to Cas, who refused the offer out of mistrust that Jessica's friend could be relied on. She badgered him to change his mind, and eventually he reluctantly agreed. Unfortunately by the time medicine was provided Diana was too weak for it to take much effect and she passed away. Angry and resentful, she made the decision to leave the Nomads for good and offered her skills to the HSP instead.

Ignatius has a very svelte and distinguished look about him. Standing at 5'11" and weighing in around 165 pounds, he has a lithe build made up of lean muscle. His skin is light brown and eyes a light gold with slight coppery undertones, a rather rare though not impossible color among humans. His hair is a rich shade of chestnut and often kept combed back. Ignatius has a slightly squared facial shape, his features sharp as a knife with high cheekbones, a pointed nose and hooded eyes. A golden chain adorns his neck, a cross dangling at the bottom. A tattoo of thorny vines stretches from the left wrist all the way up to the elbow.

❆Personality❆
Formally cold and calculated, current circumstances have softened some of his previously more amoral views. As a former second for the HSP he cared very little for the well-being of others and was swift to punish even the smallest of infractions, believing fear to be a better motivator than respect or love. He is not the strongest man physically, proving rather frail more often than not, and prefers not to soil his hands with blood, which generally led to ordering others to take care of those 'unsavory' for him. Ignatius was so caught up in his own ideals and the survival of the human race as a whole that he rarely considered each person he interacted with as an individual.

Everything was numbers. The needs of the many over the needs of the few his mantra. He didn't appear to be aware of his own cruelty, often left puzzled by even some of his co-workers avoiding his company. Despite his less than approachable attitude he enjoys being around people, craving attention and affection. The closest he comes to feeling regret or missing those who have passed are odd bouts of nostalgia and melancholy that come at the most inexplicable of times. Since parting ways with the HSP and experiencing for himself the struggles of life alone in the wilderness he has begun to question his own ethics.

Ignatius was born among the HSP. The second son and only surviving child of a soldier and a researcher. Ignatius had a taste for the finer things in life even in his younger years. His parents often couldn't afford the luxuries he demanded. They were not part of the high command after all and were given the same supplies to live off as any other of their rank would be. Manipulation and thievery became second nature to the boy in order to obtain what he wanted. His parents noticed something wasn't quite right about him, but upon seeing no signs that he was harming other children or animals decided to brush it off as merely a stage.

He followed in his mother's footsteps as a researcher, but only held the position for two years before being promoted as a second, weaseling his way up to the top. He didn't keep the rank for long before it was noted he tended to take advantage of his power to laze around and wasn't nearly as strong as he should be. His parents managed to hide his frailty throughout childhood, but had no excuses left when confronted on the matter. Ignatius assumed becoming a second would make him invincible and he was quite wrong, soon stripped of his ranking and sent off into the wilderness. He went peacefully if not crestfallen by his failures, understanding he must be willing to uphold the values for which he once stood. His father presented him with the golden necklace he never takes off as a parting gift.

Standing at 167cm and weighting in at a mere 46kg, Juno possesses a slender, lean frame. Though she is not short, many find themselves describing her as petite, maybe because of the fact that to the unobservant eye, Juno might seem dangerously thin. However, her delicate, frail appearance belies in more ways than one the strong, very flexible muscles under her pale, smooth skin. She has a small waist, long legs and arms and is built primarily for speed and agility. Her hair is long and of a reddish brown color. It reaches her waist if left down. It is slightly wavy, soft and is almost always up in a messy bun, braid or ponytail.

Her eyes are big, almond shaped and surrounded by long, thick, dark-brown eyelashes. The irises sport a very peculiar tint, a mix of the coldest of greys and warmest of greens, with an observant, intimidating gaze that could mean anything and everything at the same time. The rest of the factions on her face tend to be small and refined, the exception to these being her lips, full and soft and of a very pale pink color. She has never been the type of person to obsess over her appearance but does make an effort to remain clean and fairly well-kept. However, she doesn't mind getting a little dirty and rugged from time to time, the perks of the job.

Mysterious and detached, Juno can very easily come out as the harsh, ruthless being everyone makes out the HSP members to be. And maybe she can become a little terryfing, she certainly isn't afraid of many things, but truth is there is so much more to her that people don't know.

She is silent and obervant, nothing passes unnoticed under her watchful eye and she is more aware of things than what others realize. We could imagine what everybody knows of her as her shell, her carapace...her wall. Frigid, emotionless...nor fears, nor wishes, not a care in the world for absolutely anything or anyone (herself included). A fearsome, intimidating, severe machine designed for obeying and acting, without fail, no matter how amoral or questionable are the nature of her actions. A personality like that is sure to keep people away, which in the end has always been her sole purpose.

Every single one of those beliefs, that everyone holds about her, couldn't be farthest away from the truth. Juno is not ruthless, nor heartless. She is not uncaring and she is not emotionless. She is simply an extremely introverted, silent and complex person. Juno is, contrary to what everyone believes, quite a peaceful person. She more often than not disagrees with the way the HSP manages things, but it is all she has ever known. She could never bring herself to believe that this is trully what humanity needs. But she doesn't trust the Nomads. She has been raised to see them as the enemy, one does not easily ignore everything they have been taught since their early childhood.

She is a modest person. She won't be the one to start a fight or offend others just because, but she won't stand down from any provokation coming her way. The redhead can be extremely intimidating and fierce if you push her buttons. Juno is used to shouldering responsabilities and is indeed a very practical person. She is a fast learner, a silent subject and gets the job done, characteristics that have kept her alive through the HSP training.

Juno doesn't really know much about her past. All she was told was that the HSP found her when she was a baby, took her in and when she was old enough, trained her allongside the Soldiers, Scouts and Scavengers. But her story starts much before that.

Juno was born a Nomad, the same year the HSP stopped simply 'helping' people and started pursuing their objective of strengthening the human race. She wasn't even a year old when a squad of Soldiers and Scouts ambushed her group. Her family was supposedly killed in the ambush and she was taken by the HSP to the Zero, where she was raised in the nursuery alongside other infants both HSP born and Nomad-taken babies of around her age. Of course, they weren't many. Eight kids in total. She never really got along with them, they saw her as weird and she like idiots. The only reason why the HSP had known her name was because it had been embroidered in the blanket that covered her "Juno Moira Vollmond".

A she grew up, everyone kept on telling her the importance of preserving only the fittest or most intelligent specimens of the human race. How this would be fruitful to humanity as a whole in the future. And they always took her silence as deep acceptance. Of her group, only four out of the eight kids made it through training, Juno being the only girl and the best of her class. Only years after of being Soldier leader, Juno was re-ranked as a second-in-command, occupying the place of one of the previous sub-leaders that was killed by a Nomad.

It is clear that Kade cares more about the survival of humans as a species than individual people, even if she would rather no one have to die. It's not uncommon for her to be in a 'relationship' with someone, though these hookups rarely last longer than a week, at most; when someone starts getting clingy, she puts them in their place, because nothing is more important to her than her organization.

The first thing she remembered was cold. It was so cold. Kade was born into the HSP, and had to undergo their rigorous training as a child, and she did more than survive - she excelled. As a teenager, she was leading her own squadron, and from there, she rose quickly through the ranks, until she was the feared right hand of the elderly former leader. They shared a common goal and were quite good friends, enough so that when he passed away quietly in his sleep, he left her everything, and she took the mantle of leadership, barely eighteen. Very few changes have been made in how things are run, as she arranged most of what happened as the Second-In-Command anyway, and found everything suited her.

Appearance
Raiden is of the average size and build for a guy around his age, or what would have been considered normal in past societies. His large frame stands at about 6'1 and weighs about 190 pounds. He of course would like to say most of the weight is due to the large amount of muscle covering his body. As vain as he is, he does like to think that his "bod is totally to die for" even if there could be more steps to improvement. Although his body is evidence of hard training and a vigorous exercise routine, there are some things that even his toned body and tan skin cannot hide. There are various thin silver scars found on his chest and abdomen from past abuse, but most of his scars are scattered across his back. With an attitude like his, there were many beatings in his past that he does not ever wish to talk about. However, his bright flashy smile and those warm brown eyes are quick to make you believe that he has not endured so much.

Personality
Although Raiden and arrogance seem to walk hand in hand, he is very aware of his place in the rankings and does not intentionally push his boundaries. He will never question his orders even if they do seem morally questionable at times. It was seared into his brain at a young age to serve and obey like the good little soldier he dreamed of being. His arrival here was quite traumatic and being so young it really made an impact on him. It took him weeks before he finally managed to speak a word to anyone because he was in such a state of shock that it had locked himself away inside of his head. Even though his body was there and going through the normal physical maneuvers, his head was definitely placed elsewhere. However, being the brave soul that he is, he slowly snapped himself out of his trance and engaged himself. Raiden was determined to make this horrible experience into something fun and exciting. That is a common fault of his that has continued on into adulthood. Despite the scenario, he is always optimistic and will always point out all the good things happening rather than focusing on the negatives. To him, this has been the best thing to ever happen to him and would not change a thing for the world. He takes his job at HSP very seriously and has proven himself time and time again that he can be a very reliable person. At first glance he can appear to be a a typical HSP soldier bound by his duties to bring a better earth, and can often give off the impression of stick up his hind end due to his strong devotion to the HSP, but all it takes is his trademark cheeky smile and that facade is soon to vanish. It will look as if he is a serious guy with little depth to his personality, but his easy going nature and quick quips it will soon become apparent that he is far from that assumption. Through his years, Raiden has learned to rely on his fun sense of humor and sarcastic comments to make life go by much easier.

In a world where there isn't much room or laughter it can be hard to see the light side of things. However, Raiden never seemed to lose his odd sense of humor and his ability to make any situation awkward. His job is the only thing he takes serious, but even then he is always cracking jokes to the best of his abilities in hopes of making someone else's day brighter. Arrogance radiates off of him, truly confident in every way he looks and is just overall a very confident person who doesn't let others get him down. It may seem like he is rather full of himself and doesn't much care about other people or what they think, but he has a large heart who has trouble seeing others hurting. It is quite ironic considering his line of duty, but that doesn't make him a heartless shell set out for killing. He absolutely loves meeting new people and talking to everyone; he enjoys hearing their stories. His openness to new people makes him a great friend that will always be a shoulder to cry on, but it would be best to understand that even in a dark situation full of tears, he is still bound to crack an inappropriate joke or two.

Background
The whereabouts of his past group of nomads is unknown because there is actually very little that he remembers from that place. It could be that he has blocked out those memories because it causes him so much hurt to think about them, or it could just be that so much time has past that they have faded away until there was nothing left. What he does remember is that it was a relatively small group of about 40-50 members who had known each other for quite some time before everything went bad. The group was under the protection of a local HSP group which at the time Raiden didn't realize was odd. The HSP men would bring them little bits of food and other simple necessities from time to time, just barely enough to get by if they rationed. It wasn't much, but they could have been forced to gather things all on their own like the other groups in the world. However, such advantages did not come for free, and the price was a large one. Every other month or so, the group was forced to offer someone up to the HSP soldiers, allowing them to take this person and do what they wish with them. The group offered up the oldest children in the beginning, allowing the families to choose who they wished to give up. One may ask why they were willing to give up their own children to such horrible people, but the family who offered up a child would receive a bundle of essential items in exchange. It may seem like a cruel choice, but for families with three other children it was the most ideal thing to do. As time went on and the shortage of children increased it was then Raiden and Deacon who were in the spotlight. Their parents refused to give them up, no matter what they got in return. They managed to fight for them for as long as they could, but shortly after their fourth birthday, the group forcibly through Raiden at the HSP. There was nothing the small family could do as they watched their young child be taken away, into a dark, uncertain future.

Raiden arrived a scared, naive four year old child who hadn't been exposed to the cruelty of the HSP. They had been a major part of his homelands, but he didn't have event the slightest idea of how cruel they could be. It took him weeks to even speak a word to anyone, but until that time he was constantly pushed and yanked around by large men in scary suits. However, many of his problems soon dissolved after he began speaking. Although he was quite young at the time, he was quick to follow the orders of those men in fear of what would happen if he chose not to. Raiden was the perfect student for the most part, the longer he stayed there the more comfortable he got which meant he did get himself into a bit of trouble. His quick retorts would almost always end with him getting smacked across the face for being disrespectful, but most of the time he couldn't ever hold his tongue. It wasn't until he got into his teenage years did things really begin to get worse for him. Although he doesn't offer up the explanation to his scars, they were received for being disobedient, very unlike his present day self. The worst beating he received was when he was brought along during one of their raids to be trained. It wasn't something new to him because by this point it was about his sixth raid that he had been on, but when he stumbled across a young child that is when things changed. The group had been sent to eradicate these people, but when Raiden found the child he couldn't bring himself to make her known to the group leader. Instead, he stashed the child under the bed and stood in front of her in a weak attempt to protect her. Quite a few things happened after that, but the most important thing that happened was that he was mercilessly beaten for protecting that child. He had been beat so thoroughly that he spent two weeks in the infirmary recovering. Needless to say, Raiden learned his lesson that day and has become the hardworking soldier known today.

Shortish and a little chubby which certainly helps with the cold. His skin is pale as anything but has hints that it would have been brownish if not for the constant cold and little sun. He's fairly robust and strong but doesn't look it due to his *ahem* padding. He has long black hair which hangs over his face most of the time, a square but rounded jaw, ears that stick out a little, and grey eyes with purple rings around the iris.
He wears ski jackets and jeans or snow pants to fight off the cold. His favourite ski jacket has brown fur around the hood and sleeves. He'll pull it closed, hide his hands, and run around chasing the kids claiming he's "The SnowBear", the kids seem to like it, especially when he inevitably runs into walls.
If he's indoors he'll tend to wear a bunch of jewellery (eyebrow rings, spider bites, tongue, looped helix earrings, and black plugs with skulls). All his piercings are black. He avoids wearing the ear and mouth-based metal piercings as they tend to get cold really fast. He doesn't remove the eyebrows as they tend to get infected or close over quickly and the plugs are plastic so don't chill him.
He has a bunch of tattoos. One is of a massive cartoony bear roaring. Another is of a bunch of halloween-based things, black cat in a witches' hat, jack-o-lantern, spider web, candygore creatures (zombie bunnies, cats, dogs, mice, etc, with candy-based gore instead of blood/guts/etc). An anatomical spine from nape of neck to tailbone.

A giant softie. He loves keeping people's spirits high and often jokes around with them. He's good at diffusing situations with humour and even better at making sure everyone's ok. He's warm, loving, and gives great hugs and cuddles (though only those sad enough to need a hug know about that last bit). As previously mentioned, he's good with kids, particularly the younger ones. He's able to find ways to entertain them no matter what and he has incredible patience. The older ones seem to think he's generally cool as he has a habit of playing pranks.
The other side of his generally bright personality is that he's incredibly tough on himself. He's compelled to do the best possible and make sure everyone's happy and safe. This can lead him to running himself ragged helping people or going exploring or finding materials or building things. He finds it hard to say no to a request. If he feels he can't help or hasn't done enough he'll sink into a depression which can take a while to break out of.
Anger-wise, he's pretty calm. It takes a lot to get on his nerves generally but if it's been particularly stressful or he's having a down day it's best to give him space. The few people who've ticked him off during those times have come face to face with very loud yelling, a list of things they have previously done to irritate, and possible injury. Luckily this has only happened once or twice and he apologised profusely afterwards.
The most important aspect of him is his protectiveness. He will stop at nothing to keep people safe. He'll volunteer for explorations, hunting, fights. He protects not only his own group, but also others. That guy who showed up and is a bit off the wall? He'll sit down with them and find out what's going on. This combines with his temper. The number 1 way to get him mad are hurting someone whether physical injury or general bullying, he detests it. His protectiveness has led to him getting injured but he doesn't mind.

Has lived with the Nomads for a while. His parents were independent but joined up and stayed to have their son and keep him safe. When he was old enough they said their goodbyes and went back to independence. They still come and check on Obroox now and then. Their relationship is friendly and loving, family reunions are often filled with laughter and stories.
Aside from that, not much has happened to Obroox. He briefly started a band with some of his childhood friends, but their families eventually left for other nomadic groups. They also keep in touch when they pass by. All of them have the Roxie and the Rockers tattoos.
Obroox is great with his hands, and that's not a euphemism. He's an exceptional builder, often making shelters that seem to defy the strongest storm while staying toasty. He even made a little garden that grows various crops. He loves gardening and is often found tending to the plants. He was able to find some strong lights which simulates sunlight and insulated the room enough to keep the plants from dying. The water needs to be manually applied, but there's a water boiling/purification station in the room and a cute watering can. While most of the plants are crops (corn, tomato, lettuce, potatoes, you get the idea) he also has a little greenhouse off the side with succulents, cacti, and various types of flowers. The greenhouse is generally locked and the key kept on a necklace on his person. He doesn't like people going in without his express permission and presence, doing otherwise tends to get you in his bad books. It's his private haven and will often go there after stressful events. If you're really quiet and sneak up to the door you might hear him conversing with the plants, asking them what to do or just talking to them about his hobbies.
