I am not really sure how people feel about this. But lately most of the raffles I enter all seem to be yanked at the last minute. People entering the raffle cant retract their tickets, but the raffle runner can just cancel it minutes before its due to close? That just... I don't know it feels wrong. If you are running a raffle you are taking the risk of not making a profit off of it. It's a raffle not a sale or auction. I would love to hear others opinions on this or maybe other idea's of how to fix this aspect of raffles. Currently the most liked idea I am hearing is to limit it to being unable to cancel in the last 24 hours or so. Original: Limit by # |

In real life it's rather harder to track down everyone who gave you five bucks, so I feel that is irrelevant. Yes there is a risk for both sides, but this will just dissuade more casual players from raffling items off. There's also a slightly more tedious way to get around this as well; forum raffles. 0 players like this post! Like? |

i think forum raffles could continue as they are. if people are willing to go through all the work of setting up a forum raffle to bypass the risk of failure, then sure. they're already less appealing to enter because they're not as easy as clicking a button. i don't think it would be a bad thing to lessen the number of raffles that take place. people would have to put some thought into it before raffling their goods. think of it that way, rather than "dissuading casual players." it would be more fun to browse raffles if they were fewer and of higher value. and, as i mentioned earlier, this would result in more items being put up for direct sale, which would increase their availability to people who really want to buy them. 0 players like this post! No support for reasons already given, sometimes people set up a raffle and than someone may offer to outright buy the items so they cancel and all entrants get their stuff back. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Though I understand your frustration, I just don't see it being worthy of this reaction. All that this will bring about is people getting scared about not quite meeting a fair amount of tickets, and pulling even earlier, rather than pushing through and maybe actually getting their quota reached. Raffles are supposed to be a way for lots of people to have a chance at a rare/valuable item/lion/gb for something much cheaper that it would normally be worth, while the seller can still make their profit and get a fair price. If that fair price isn't reached, then it's their right to cancel it and try again or sell it outright, or just wait and sell it when there's more demand. 0 players like this post! Like? |
