Glad I could possibly help.:) I've only ever done cell shading three times, and I gotta say I hate doing shading that way, rofl. I usually do Greyscale,BrownScale,OverLay Color Shading,Soft Shading and On The Base Shading However most of the artists I watch on DA do cell shading. So,it's easy to pick up how they do the depth. I'm just horrible with the placement and the cell fur DX . ![]() |

I started with soft shading, but I fell in love with cell-shading when I read a comic (Off-White) and so I'm still learning :D ![]() |

lol. I'm content to base shade and overlay shade. It's looking great so far though. X) I'd die if I did those intricate marks on her. I think this is the last Overlay shade I did http://blackmare234.deviantart.com/art/All-De-Sketches-626423813 these were base shades http://blackmare234.deviantart.com/art/All-The-Pretty-Horses-601672489 and this was my last greyscale[it's been forever] http://sta.sh/0212dhjvix3t Any other types of shading I have issues with, lol. ![]() |

lol,I didn't at first. At first all I knew was On Base shading. Which I still adore,it allows me to mix the colors easier and get a nice shine. I do find though, that when I'm in a time crunch and I wanna make something blend with the atmosphere,it's often great to use the overlay method. Only time I do greyscale is when I have tons of time on my hands and I'm trying to make something look realistic. I remember that when I did traditional,I was all about the shadows XP never did do much lighting, which kinda screwed me up. ![]() |

I wish I could cell-shade! At the moment i only do realistic-ish shading. Here is an example (traditionel) http://sushaly.deviantart.com/art/The-calm-before-the-storm-630850626 ![]() |

I only know what cell shading is, but I don't use it. I'll assume On Base is the shading goes on the same layer as the color, right? Then again, I'm probably completely wrong X3 ![]() |

No!I love it,I may comm you sometime. o.o I have a world,Ara that I'm developing and I wouldn't mind comming some people for some help on drawing it,because these are the only drawings I have of its landscape so far and it's bugging me because none of them seem up close and personal. http://sta.sh/01zhfvhi876o http://sta.sh/023mqop3y5hd http://sta.sh/0s37uziarm5 http://sta.sh/03zg799krm1 http://sta.sh/011cztls0rif http://sta.sh/0265eh64saei http://sta.sh/0rla5akm9qi I can't seem to find the right depth for mine. So if anyone wanted to give me some helpful hints,I'd love it. @Sierra Lights : Like I said though,I wouldn't mind comming you sometime in the future to maybe draw something like that for me once or twice if you'd be up for it. X) @Aomame : Looks great,I can't do humans for the life of me,lol. I've tried for my main OC but he always looks horrid when I do so. ![]() |

@DarkLily : Yeah,it does. :) I don't really know the professional names for any of them aside from Greyscale or Cell Shading. So I just say what I do with them. ![]() |

I'm confused with the technicallity of all this artsy stuff. I'm not that type of artist who's like That value is to dark for the linear look of this piece of art, anyway since the person of interest is not centered perhaps we should put it 3 degrees to the right and add cell-shading with soft shading around it's limbs and muzzle to give a feeling of depth and perspective. I'm just like Hey that looks good! Let's try doing that. lol ![]() |
