![]() Current Weather: Blistering hot sun without a cloud in sight Enter Canada: Not a drop of rain has been seen since early May, and every animal is feeling it. The sun has become uncharacteristically hot, killing and drying out the Mustangs' main food source: vegetation. The horses have fled to a small, twenty mile area of pine forest, deep in the mountains, seeking shade and relief from the hot sun, which is burning light colored horses. Deer and moose are heading to wetter lands, depriving the wolves of their main food source: fresh meat. Because of this the swollen wolf populous have turned to the horses for food; killing young foals and old horses alike. Safety in numbers has been taken to the extreme, some herds harboring well over a dozen horses. More wolves have passed through these lands, following their prey source. When they happened upon the hundreds of Mustangs hiding in the mountains they stayed, adding to the already overgrown Canis Lupus population. Mares keep even older foals close, and yearlings with a good head on their shoulders dare not stray from the protection of their lead stallion. Because of the dry, sparse grass, lactating mares are condemned to a dwindling milk supply, unfortunately and quite unwillingly starving foals unequipped to graze on what little grass there is. The new wolves brought with them an awful disease, dubbed the "Staggering Sickness". The horses have no known treatment, but healers are working tirelessly to find a cure. It can take anywhere from four to ten days for the symptoms to appear, and contact with the victim's droppings, urine, saliva, nasal discharge, or even breathing the same air will almost guarantee the sickness continues to spread. The main symptoms are thick nasal discharge, staggering gait, hind leg weakness, fever, and lethargy. Some infected horses even die. Wolves seem unable to catch this horrid disease, but it passes from horse to horse like wildfire, and whole herds are dropping like flies, especially with more horses in a smaller area and larger herds. The disease also causes malformed or aborted foals in pregnant mares, and foals, along with the elderly, are more susceptible to it. Character SheetsNo thread generated. (Yeah!!! Only Flo's lookout Striker snake one of Ren's NPCs,so Ren's gonna go try to snake one back but I'm gonna wait till wolflord gets back on to attempt it.Ren's gonna ask Auggie to go along to 'watch and learn' Renegade-August The palomino mouthed a silent tank you to his mate, then noticing his apprentice was awake he trotted back towards him and gave August a friendly nudge, practically lifting the buckskin's rump off the ground. "Mornin' Auggie.See you slept late.Your lucky your not training today,or I'd have ya up at three in the morning tomorrow. You're coming' to watch me snake a mare or two from that new herd over there, they took Ace so I decided to return the favor. He grinned."Meet Karina yet son? She may like you..." His nudged the colt's shoulder with his own. ![]() Edited on 06/10/16 @ 18:10:33 by mr.man78 (#96942) |

Azusa | Mare | Loner | Mentions: Hira; Azusa looked back at the pond, her gaze slightly narrowed as she saw another mare. With a quiet sigh, Azusa slowly got up and sloppily trotted over to her, a blank expression on her features. "Mm, what's a mare doing here? Go back..to your herd." Azusa said, her gaze staying on the mare. It was common to find mares near the pond but it often bothered her, but like always, she kept to herself and usually left and came back later. ![]() |

August / Colt / Mentions - Renegade "Huh?" Mildly startled, he shook it off. "Oh. Uh, what?" He shook his head, seemingly dazed. "Sorry. When are we going?" He asked, in the process of pulling himself together. (Short) ![]() |

Azusa | Mare | Loner | Mentions: Hira Azusa simply blinked, unfazed by the mare's harsh tone. With a sigh, she shook her head and narrowed her gaze slightly. "I'm the stupid mare..?" Azusa said with a light chuckle, "I was here first, go find someone else to bother." Azusa said with a bored, yet dark tone. ![]() |

Hira>>Azusa "You dumb ass was laying under a tree over there if you own this patch then make me leave." She turned around and continuing to drink, She wasn't going to let the mare win that easliy. She walked into the water and laid down munching on the grass that laid under water. "Go back Im not in a mood to fight mare." She continued to eat. ((When she say ass she means a donkey)) ![]() |

Azusa | Mare | Loner | Mentions: Hira; Azusa closed her eyes and sighed. "How bothersome..." She muttered and trotted off, unknowingly onto another herd's territory. Her gaze flickered around as she looked for a decent place to rest. With a quiet sigh, Azusa rested near a patch of flowers and closed her eyes. Even though her eyes were closed, she was still awake and alert for any danger. ((If I was Azusa, I would've beat the crap out of Hira xD -excuse my language-)) ![]() Edited on 06/10/16 @ 19:02:11 by ☪Ririe (#91514) |

(Have him snake back Ace?) Ace Mare / 3 / Forest Herd Mentions: Knoton members. She watched with little interest as the mare circled her. She jumped slightly as the mare squealed at her, tilting her head in confusion. The pinto mare flicked her tail and used a back hoof to scratch at her shoulder. Not reacting to the mare's dominance show. -so short- Flo Male / 4 / Knoton Herd Mentions: Ace, Paloma The stallion watched with amusement as the mare didn't even react to Paloma's obvious show of dominance. His eyes turned to his queen, waiting to see her reaction to the mare's disinterest. -UGH- ![]() |

Paloma-Mare-Mentions:Ace,Flo Paloma stared the mare down.Well then...She aimed an angry bite at her flank, informing her who was boss here. She pinned her ears to protect them in case a fight broke out, ready for anything. If Ace didn't put it together there would be a fight or Ace would be herdless.Whichever the mare decided. Renegade-Stallion-Flo's herd From the trees Renegade watched a grulla mare and striking skewbald stallion.Judging by the mare's display she seemed to be lead mare.Interesting...He'd have to make a distraction and take Ace back. Now would have been a very good time for Renegade to split in half.Too bad he couldn't.Oh well.Backing up until he was completely hidden from view he threw back his head and practically roared.A challenging trumpet of a lead stallion.Out for revenge... (*rubs hands together and laughs evilly.Mwahahahahahaha!) ![]() |

Ace Mare / 3 / Forest Herd Mentions: Knoton members, Renegade Ace snorted as the mare bit at her, dancing to the side and snapping back with pinned ears. A stallion called from the trees and Ace danced on her hooves. Feigning a charge at the queen and running towards the woods with a head held high. If Renegade came back that meant she was valuable. Though a certain black stallion tagged into her, causing her direction to shift towards two other lead mares. Ace bucked and clipped the male in the chin. Her and Striker going at it. Her tail rising and falling with her movements, her growing scent spreading around the group. Though the lookout never faltered in his movements. Flo Male / 4 / Knoton Herd Mentions: Ace, Paloma, Renegade. Flo stopped everything as a stallion challenged him from the woods. The beast of a horse rising to his full height, resting a full two hands above the year younger stallion. Flo whinnied loudly, pawing at the ground. Yamo and Nica moving to corral Paloma and lead her into the secret place not far off. The two mares fully prepared to go down for the heavily pregnant mare, whose stomach was growing past her hips. Flo snorted, "Show yourself! If you're here for the mare, Striker didn't realize she was in the herd." His muscles tensing in preparation for a possible fight. ![]() |

Renegade-Stallion-Flo "I am here for the mare.Return her and we will both remain unharmed." He was once more slipping into his sotto voce.Although he remained in the shadows he silently moved slightly forward so one half of his face could be seen.We both have families, yours is on the way, mine is growing.I want to avoid conflict, but will fight if need be." He dragged one sharpened hoof across the forest floor causing a furrow of dirt to form.He was fully expecting a fight, his stallion warrior blood coursing through his veins as they bulged through his flesh. Paloma-Mare-Ace,Flo Paloma whinnied and attempted to counteract the bite by whacking her head against Ace's jaw. When the rival stallion whinnied Paloma watched Ace run off and was ready to go after her when Striker intercepted her. "Good boy" she muttered quietly, wincing as Ace's kick clipped his jaw.She hurried along with Yamo and Nica knowing full well Flo could take care of himself in a fight. She touched her nose to her swollen barrel and nickered quietly "It'll be okay, everything's gonna be fine,Daddy'll handle it." more to herself then the foal. She watched over her shoulder as the two stallion's faced each other. ![]() |

(Oh o.o What I miss?) August / Colt / Mentions - None August kicked his hoof in the dirt lazily, and decided to go out and explore for a short while. He trotted off, looking around half-heartedly as he passed various shrubs or plants, not finding anything in particular. As he was nearing very far from the herd, and towards the edge of the territory, he felt a strange sense of unease. His ears pricked, trying to listen for noise. But the air was eerily still, and not even a soft breeze could be heard. A sudden weight toppled him over, the large predator having pinned him down to reveal it's snarling face. It was a cougar! He kicked hard, aiming a few blows, but not enough to save himself. Thankfully, his opponent wasn't all that stronger than him, and he had a small chance of surviving, but he would have to make the right moves. The struggling colt nipped at the large cats' neck scruff, trying to pull him down. He may not have the incredible jaw strength of a large predator, but he had hopes it would do. As the cougar's head was jerked down, it screeched in surprise, before the bold colt kicks it's underbelly with his heels. The cougar let go for a split second, allowing August to quickly roll onto his belly, concealing his no longer exposed underbelly. He lifted himself to his hooves, just in time as the puma charged at him. The scarred colt jumped out of the way and reared, kicking at the vicious beast. It seemed to hesitate whether it should try to take him down or not, but August made use of this precious time and ran away toward the herd lands. He figured with his last remaining energy, he should run, which he supposed would be better than tiring himself to death. This, however, was not the case. The puma was much more agile, and just barely managed to get closer and closer. Shortly after, it barreled into him, the two rolling and tumbling, screeching claws, distressed whinnies and thrashing hooves as dust flew everywhere. (Finally a long post.. I needed some action.) ![]() Edited on 06/10/16 @ 20:04:02 by Zypheria ☯ (#49415) |

Lawl) Flo Male / 4 / Knoton Chief Mentions: Renegade, Striker, Yamo, Nica, Paloma, Ace Fully ready to fight he thought of his mare, if he got distracted she could be snaked away and the foal killed. His ears pinned back, "Striker!" His voice deep, "Leave her." Instantly the stallion aimed one last kick at her shoulder to throw her off and trotted to his lead's side. He watched the mare as she slightly limped towards Renegade. His own lookout wasn't leaving unscathed either. They both had plenty of bleeding, and hardly bleeding, wounds. Though it wouldn't slow Striker down to bad. He watched Ace leave with a tilted head, "You got her now leave. Seems as if one of your own is in trouble." He said the last part just after the beautiful pinto mare screamed out for Renegade. Ace Female / 3 / Forest Mentions: KNOTON HERD, Renegade, August The female dodged the kick at her shoulder and snorted, semi-limping over to Renegade before stopping. Distressed whinnies and yowls had her barreling into the woods. Heels kicking up dirt as she raced to the scene. Not far off was young August rolling with a cougar, "RENEGADE!" Her voice was loud, deep, and worried. She was to injured to fight the cat, but she could buy some time! Rushing forwards, she jumped over the pair just as the cat rolled the young foal, her front hooves digging into the rib cage of the cat as she flew through the air. Ace snorted at the cat, ears pinned back and her sides heaving from the effort. Striker, as the lead had called him, had left some pretty nasty cuts on her body, one that pained her the most was a well aimed kick to her rib cage. ![]() |
