Current Weather: Blistering hot sun without a cloud in sight

Enter Canada:

Not a drop of rain has been seen since early May, and every animal is feeling it. The sun has become uncharacteristically hot, killing and drying out the Mustangs' main food source: vegetation. The horses have fled to a small, twenty mile area of pine forest, deep in the mountains, seeking shade and relief from the hot sun, which is burning light colored horses.

Deer and moose are heading to wetter lands, depriving the wolves of their main food source: fresh meat. Because of this the swollen wolf populous have turned to the horses for food; killing young foals and old horses alike. Safety in numbers has been taken to the extreme, some herds harboring well over a dozen horses. More wolves have passed through these lands, following their prey source. When they happened upon the hundreds of Mustangs hiding in the mountains they stayed, adding to the already overgrown Canis Lupus population. Mares keep even older foals close, and yearlings with a good head on their shoulders dare not stray from the protection of their lead stallion. Because of the dry, sparse grass, lactating mares are condemned to a dwindling milk supply, unfortunately and quite unwillingly starving foals unequipped to graze on what little grass there is.

The new wolves brought with them an awful disease, dubbed the "Staggering Sickness". The horses have no known treatment, but healers are working tirelessly to find a cure. It can take anywhere from four to ten days for the symptoms to appear, and contact with the victim's droppings, urine, saliva, nasal discharge, or even breathing the same air will almost guarantee the sickness continues to spread. The main symptoms are thick nasal discharge, staggering gait, hind leg weakness, fever, and lethargy. Some infected horses even die. Wolves seem unable to catch this horrid disease, but it passes from horse to horse like wildfire, and whole herds are dropping like flies, especially with more horses in a smaller area and larger herds. The disease also causes malformed or aborted foals in pregnant mares, and foals, along with the elderly, are more susceptible to it.

Estrella-mentions-august
" I don't know, something. I would like to be able to play with other foals but there aren't any other ones around." Estrella said. " How about tag? Your it! Haha you can't catch me!" Estrella taunted, taking her muzzle and tagging august on the shoulder, and then taken off. She was fast but she didn't know how fast august was.

August / Stallion / 2 years 4 months \ Estrella

August chuckled and a challenging expression crossed his face. "Oh, you're so sure about that, huh?" He replied playfully, and got to his hooves as he began to give chase. He was actually always a fairly slow young stallion, but he made up for it in his durability. He made sharp turns to avoid crashing into large rocks. Eventually he was gaining on her. "Hah! Whatcha' gonna do now?"

" This!" Estrella shouted as she made a sharp U-turn and started in the direction of the deeper part of the forest. She had put a little bit of distance, but August was gaining.

August / Stallion / 2 years 4 months Estrella

August kept going, but he had always learned in his time to never try and cut your pursuer off. Although it sometimes worked, the pursuer could cut you off instead and it could be the end. However, this did manage to work for Estrella, and he skidded to a halt so he wouldn't fall over. He then dug a hoof in the ground and shook his mane, before letting out a playful whinny as he reared back and gave chase with all of his speed. This would probably drain him a bit more, but if he got a head start it would still be very helpful.

Delta | Stallion | 2.5

Delta was happy, he would be allowed to stay in the herd with his mate and foal. He nuzzled Karina's neck gently and lovingly. "That went better than I expected"

Starshock>>Open
Starshock grazed in the crisp early morning, she needed to start putting on the pounds. She looked up the sky was still that hot pink to orange color, as a low light fog settled in around the herd. She shook her head as a chill went down her spine, oh how she loved the chilly mornings and cool afternoons. She walked towards the dirt patch laying down she began to roll the dirt stil moist from the settling fog.

Karina>>Delta
Karina woke up next to Dante, a smile broke across her face. "Morning sweet Delta." She said muzzling his neck, the cool morning brought a few waking chills though her body. "It sure is cold this fine morning." She said looking around as a few horses had already awaken.

Renegade-Starshock

After soaking his sore leg and cuts and bruises in the pond he took a deep breath. They would have to leave soon, winter hit hard here and he wanted his herd to be safe, but he also loved the snow. He was stuck between a decision. He saw everyone looked fit and healthy, his now pregnant Starshock grazed peacefully, Estrella and August were galloping around and Karina and Delta were enjoying each others presence. They would stay. He walked to Starshock to shre his decision. "Starshock, I think we should stay the winter. The trees will provide shelter and if it gets really cold we could huddle together." He looked t the gathering clouds with slight worry. Either a soaking rain, bone numbing sleet or snow.
(TS soon, Since it's a little slow we could TS now. What does everyone think?)

((Sounds Good to me, ))
Starshock >> Renegade
Starshock muzzled her mate, "If you would like love, I'm here to follow you no matter where you go." She said with a warm smile. "We have fresh water, bark to eat, we have stayed a winter here before I know we can do it again." She said with a swish of her tail.
