![]() Current Weather: Blistering hot sun without a cloud in sight Enter Canada: Not a drop of rain has been seen since early May, and every animal is feeling it. The sun has become uncharacteristically hot, killing and drying out the Mustangs' main food source: vegetation. The horses have fled to a small, twenty mile area of pine forest, deep in the mountains, seeking shade and relief from the hot sun, which is burning light colored horses. Deer and moose are heading to wetter lands, depriving the wolves of their main food source: fresh meat. Because of this the swollen wolf populous have turned to the horses for food; killing young foals and old horses alike. Safety in numbers has been taken to the extreme, some herds harboring well over a dozen horses. More wolves have passed through these lands, following their prey source. When they happened upon the hundreds of Mustangs hiding in the mountains they stayed, adding to the already overgrown Canis Lupus population. Mares keep even older foals close, and yearlings with a good head on their shoulders dare not stray from the protection of their lead stallion. Because of the dry, sparse grass, lactating mares are condemned to a dwindling milk supply, unfortunately and quite unwillingly starving foals unequipped to graze on what little grass there is. The new wolves brought with them an awful disease, dubbed the "Staggering Sickness". The horses have no known treatment, but healers are working tirelessly to find a cure. It can take anywhere from four to ten days for the symptoms to appear, and contact with the victim's droppings, urine, saliva, nasal discharge, or even breathing the same air will almost guarantee the sickness continues to spread. The main symptoms are thick nasal discharge, staggering gait, hind leg weakness, fever, and lethargy. Some infected horses even die. Wolves seem unable to catch this horrid disease, but it passes from horse to horse like wildfire, and whole herds are dropping like flies, especially with more horses in a smaller area and larger herds. The disease also causes malformed or aborted foals in pregnant mares, and foals, along with the elderly, are more susceptible to it. Character SheetsNo thread generated. Estrella-mentions-renegade, starshock " I am I think I need to make it behind that tree...the wind is going to be blowing on the opposite side of the tree." She said smiling and she walked slowly to the tree, and started to scrape her hooves into the snow. It took a painful long time but it was finished. Estrella made a little den like thing in the snow, big enough for a stallion. Estrella reared with pride " I got it! No more freezing for me!" Sue enter inside. It was warm, *those two legged creatures where right it is warm.* She thinks. ![]() |

Starshock>>Renegade, Estrella Starshock watched as her mate gathered the lake grass. Once she had her fill she shook her self getting rid of the extra water then began to buck and run around. She did this for about 15 minutes stopping once she felt dry enough and moved towards Estrella. "The two legs huh?" She said coldly her ears flatting. She waited for Renegade to join them, "I guess some good did come from them, just like moose taught me about lake grass as they call it." She said nudging Estrella. ![]() |

estrella-mentions-renegade starshock " Yes good did but I still don't like them but look. I made a warm little hole in the snow for the foals and there mothers! It could fit a full grown stallion!" Estrella said excitedly. She pranced little in the snow. ![]() |

August / Stallion / 2 years 6 months Estrella, Renegade, Starshock Bitter cold stung the buckskin's nerves, his body shivering. He turned to see Estrella sitting in a little hole in the ground. He pricked his ears in curiosity and trotted next to a tree, each step a long, painful drag of a hoof through the snow. He reared back and stomped into the snow, carving a small hole. But there was also a deeper hole under the snow already? He kicked up more snow, digging a little pit in the crunchy white powder, before looking down. Just then a small rodent-like creature jumped out and bit him on the nose! He whinnied and reared back, bucking wildly like a scared filly. "Get it off! Get it off!" He cried, before falling on his side into the snow, the critter scurried off back into it's burrow. "Pfft. Coward." He bursted, before pushing himself back to his hooves. ![]() Edited on 19/10/16 @ 02:31:17 by Zypheria ☯ (#49415) |

(Horses are generally wanted to give birth around January 1st or August 1st x3) Ace ~indian herd~ The mare could feel sharp kicks to her stomach. Her ears snapping backwards, the foal couldn't be coming this early could it? Her head flew up in alarm, trying to find somewhere safe to foal.. Though no where was safe! Everything was snow and it was freezing out! The foal could die and her ears snapped backwards. The mare moved as quickly as she could towards the woods, knowing the trees would provide excellent cover from the biting wind. Her mind driven to protect the now wanting out foal from certain death. Hooves worked quickly at the snow, digging a pit to the ground underneath the snow. Laying out on the ground with the snow piled around her in a protective thing against the snow. FADE Tired head lifted off the ground, looking back at the colt with soft nickers trying to awaken him slightly. Ears flattening and nudging the colt sadly, licking his fur in the wrong direction to warm him. Her instincts pushing her to try everything, and she became overjoyed at the fact that the colt awoke with a half-hearted neigh. The mare nudged him up on his very unsteady hooves, rising upwards herself and practically shoving him against her stomach so he could nurse. "Spade." She murmured quietly, nudging the gorgeous colt as he suckled loudly. She had almost lost him!! She threw her head back and whinnied loudly, ears pricked upwards as the sound carried around. Echoing against the bare landscape. ![]() |

Starshock>>Estrella, August, Renegade Starshock laid down in the little hole her daughter had made. She felt rather weak and light headed something she had felt being pregnant with Estrella as well. "I will rest for a while then I need to find more food." She said unable to keeo her eyes open. She heard August neighing in the background but it slowly began to fade away. Hira>> Open Hira dug into the snow revealing some grass, "Finally i was getting tired of bark." She said greedly eating it. She moved on when she finished eating the small grass patch. Her ribs showed even under her thick winter coat. ![]() |

Renegade- Mentions: Ace, Estrella, August, Starshock The ribby palomino stallion would have loved to join them but even REM ,which was necessary scared him for fear he wouldn't be able to get back up. The cold bothered his tendon and he found it hard to lay down and get up, so he remained standing. His dull eyes caught Ace hurrying off. Although it was early for foals Renegade decided to leave the mothering to the mothers. It was better that way. "How ya doing August?" he nickered. Anything to take his mind off the bitter cold. Arius- Flo, Paloma Arius had been wondering about her playmates disappearance for a while, but her ma and pa remained tight lipped. She missed playing, she was the only foal. The only foal who asked too many questions as she had often been told. She trotted to her slightly swollen mother for warmth "Whys it cold Mama?" the without waiting for an answer trotted to her sire. "Where does snow come from Papa?" Paloma-Arius, Flo Standing beside her mate she had just been drifting off to sleep when Arius came. "It's cold my love because it's winter." she replied gently. She had been leaning against Flo with her head buried in his mane. It was warmer this way. ![]() Edited on 19/10/16 @ 18:35:42 by mr.man78 (#96942) |

Flo ~His Herd in general~ He had had everyone move together for warmth, the 'winter grounds' kept them from being fully covered like the ones further south. Though they still had plenty of snow, "Well.. Snow comes from the sky and is actually frozen water!" He said with a smile towards Arius, catching a stray flake on his tongue and letting her watch it melt before he shivered and nuzzled his mate lovingly. ![]() |

Arius- Flo Arius watched on utter amazement as the snow melted, then with a squeal began to run and catch them. Unfortunately Arius isn't much of a multitask-er and the gangling filly plowed into a snow drift. Her mouth was jammed with snow and she struggled until it began to melt. Delicious! Paloma- Flo, Arius Paloma watched as Arius ran around. "Arius careful..." before the mare could finish her sentence the filly had disappeared into a snow drift. Oh brother. (I brainfarted, how many months preg is Paloma? I forgot) ![]() |

Prisha Prisha shook her mane, staring off into the distance. She knew where to go, to be with Striker, but she wasn't ready. Abha has been so nice, the children were so full of joy, and are so playful. She has her own rider now! Her new name was Addriti, and she almost doesn't respond to her name."Thinking of home, Additri?" Abha asked, standing next to Prisha, nudging her softly. "I just want to see Striker, and Arius..." Prisha whinnied, rearing on her hind legs and stomping on the ground. "I know-" Abha was interuppted by Prisha. "No! I just want to be home! I just feel home sick!" Prisha lowered her head, folding her ears at her sudden outburst. "Then go, if it makes you happy." Abha said, a little sadly. She just talked to her 'mother' in the rudest way. Prisha leaned in to Abha, breathing in her sweet scent, feeling her warmth. Prisha turned, walking away, but not to Flo's herd, to Renegades. "Wait! Additri, im coming with you," Abha whinnied, cantering towards Prisha. "I would be walking around like a confused horse," Prisha snorted, bumping her nose to Abha's neck. Prisha kicked snow up in the air, watching as Abha galloped towards Renegades herd. ![]() |

August / Stallion / 2 years 8 months Renegade He whipped around to spot the stallion, who was getting older every day. He had to spend more time with him. He missed the old days when they used to train together, and the buckskin colt would be running into trees and attacking gophers. "Hmm? Huh? I'm food. I mean, nood. I mean wood. Ugh. I'm fine, how are you?" He stuttered, the cold must have been getting to his head. Thankfully it would all be over in a few months. "How's the rest of the herd?" He asked, before swatting snow off of his tail. (Wait, Prisha is coming back.. And with Abha? Uh oh, good luck with Auggy... Heh.) ![]() Edited on 19/10/16 @ 18:58:12 by Zypheria ☯ (#49415) |

Renegade-August, Prisha, Abha "I'm good, as is the herd. A bit cold, okay that's a lie really cold-" He was interrupted by the familiar whinny and turned around as fast as his aching tendon would allow. "Prisha!" he called. "You've come back!" Sun Dance-The Indian Ponies Sun Dance woke from his reverie of spring to meet a wind head on. He skittered to stand sheltered by a larger teepee as Prisha and Abha ran away. He had faith Abha would return and bring Prisha with her. "Come back safe girls" ![]() |
