That's what I did when I had Fire Obsidian, I kept him around for 2 generations. Even now I'd go back to him in a heart beat - he ALWAYS gave good cubs, but at the same time after a while you start getting all the cubs looking a like. Honestly this Kimanjano king is going to be the biggest shock to my pride's genetics, lol. They're mostly all black bases with dark markings. I'd king him on this account but I'm not getting rid of Mead any time soon - unless I replace him with a triple or quad feline gold.

Okay. :D Here are the three designs I really really like (all of them are in adolescent pose because I might uses Tiger's eye on him, check him out as an adult/female too - plus with broken pied because I'm gonna mutie replace him, might help you choose):

Option 1
Natural boy that I designed. He'd be a good breeder for my project and for my natural lionesses that I have on this account (since even though Mead is gold and cream... I don't really consider him all that "natural"). Only down side; I'd have to change a lot of markings in the future if I got my dream markings on a kimanjano base.

Option 2
Another nice natural. A little less natural then the last one but still close enough for my taste. This one was designed by someone else and though I didn't think I was a fan of the new carving mark - this boy really sports the marking well! Love the way the colors blend. Again I'd have to change quite a few things if I got my dream markings. Of course I'm totally willing to do that if necessary, lol.

Option 3
Okay so... this one is way off the reservation. I broke all my own rules while designing this one (there are a full 10 marks when I said no marks in slot 4 or 5 or even maybe 6) but I think the design is really striking. It's not natural at all but that would make it easier to breed him to the lionesses on the account that he's going to be occupying. Surprisingly this is the design of the 3 designs that I would have to change the least for my dream king.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. :D I really love all three designs but you guys are probably right, the second and third would make the nicest cubs . I'm kind of leaning towards the third design because it would go better with my lionesses in my black den plus some of the marks are what I want and where I want them for my dream king. Only thing is that I use all 10 slots so there is a lesser change of my desired 2 - 3 marks passing onto the cubs because they might get their daddy's marks instead. The second design doesn't use those two slots and is super pretty, a great natural for my natural ladies but not close to the dream king. So hard to choose!

I'd choose the 2nd, here's why:

Yes, the 3rd may go better with those in your black den. Though... do you really want an entire pride of just... black? Having a lioness with, for example, a darker base and a couple of darker markings from the mother, and having a splash of red/brown like henna puma from the father, looks much more appealing in my opinion than just having all monotone colors. It's nice for certain lions, but it gets borin' after a while, and it helps to tell your lions apart! Not only that, as you said, the 3rd makes it hard to breed for specific markings... and it breaks all your rules. And, it doesn't look as natural as #2.

Ok, #2 isn't completely 'natural'. But this is a game where you can have a pink lion, dangit, so this #2 is a perfect balance. It's not completely natural, but it's natural enough so that it still makes sense, but it's not so natural that it looks boring for a king's design. Also, the whole design just looks... nice. From the nose to tail-tip, the colors seem to compliment each other. And, as you said, he's perfect for natural breeding. So basically, he's good for both darker lions and natural ones! Which #2 is not. #2 breaks your rules, and isn't exactly good for natural breeding.

Hope I explained that right! I'm bad at breeding ^^" But I hope you get my point! Not only is #2 better for the overall pride, but he looks better in general :3

I don't want a pride of just black but I definitely don't want two prides of nothing but gold/red/cream/brown colors. This account is all about the natural earthy colors where as my other account is all about the cool dark colors; so if I made both kings natural I'm afraid I'll just end up with all natural/earthy lions and none of the dark flashy ones that I've come to adore in my other pride. Oh, the third one has the red marks too - they're under the onyx blanket, he's got henna puma which could show up on his cubbies. He's also got royal marks too - so he's definitely not monochromatic. I could also remove his mane markings to empty the slots that I want empty. I mean the whole point of the kimanjano king is to further my project but at the same time I want him to be a stand alone king too.

That is my absolute favorite part about that second design the way the dark brown carving blends into the kimanjano base and the way the henna puma makes a lovely dorsal gradient. Though number 2 is better for my natural ladies he isn't good for my dark lions (the cubs would look muddy and poorly balanced, trust me I've tried breeding natural to not-natural and it looks bad) and he's not great for my future dream design.

Don't get my wrong I'm still at a toss up between the two and if I was just going to crown the kimanjano on this account it would be number 2 hands down but because I need to think of my unnatural ladies and my breeding project I need to consider all options. Number 2 is better for my project because he has empty marking slots but number 3 is better for my project because his markings (other then the onyx blanket) fall in line with my dream design.

@Amy; lol, yeah my delema is a little weird. He has a natural golden base but he's going to be king of a totally unnatural pride. I'm kind of getting him at an inopportune time, normally I'd have crowned him on this account but this account is in the middle of a breeding project (I actually had another heir prepared but he's in the lion freezer for now). When you have the chance to get a kimanjano king, though, you don't say no! Get while the getting his hot. Haha.

I could also do this with him, then he'd have no mane markings and the 4 and 5 slots would be empty - he wouldn't break the rules anymore. The mane markings look great but they aren't critical.

Haha, breeding projects are SO fun I really enjoy them but I have 3 of them on the go... but of course... I only have 2 accounts which means only 2 kings can go towards two projects at once.

@Tale It works better! I still like #2, but considering your situation, that option certainly isn't a bad one! ((also, in the link, the marking percentages were... 'off' (look, you'll see what I mean xD) so I just changed them to 100%, 'cause that's what I assume you meant?))

I can't even do 1 breeding project jeez-

Closest thing I get to a breeding project is trying to get my mottled girls to have more mottleds (but relying mostly on luck), yelling at my OG fur girl to give me more OG fur cubs (and failing miserably), and shoving CRBs down lioness' throats to get muties.... :'D and often failing that too-

Yeah just set them to 100%... I don't know what is wrong with wardrobe lately, it's been really misbehaving for a lot of people - it's made my design contest a bit of a headache. haha.

Haha, well mutie breeding and mottled breeding totally counts as a breeding project - yours are just more general where mine are really specific... and mine are headache-educing-nightmares. xD Trust me, you're doing it the right way. I mean as long as you have fun, love your pride and your lore then that is what the game is all about.
