00_blackleopardfriesianforrp_by_becki_maWhisper - 5 year old 75% Friesian 25% Appaloosa Mare - Mentions: Arabella, Magnus, Anika, & Chief - Location: River

Whisper listened to the introductions, wanting to try and memorise the names of the other horses. That way should they not stay together and met in the future she would be able to talk to them by their name.

"Its a pleasure to meet you Anika and Chief."

She replied, her voice quieter now there was no immediate danger. There was a risk she'd suddenly stop talking as her anxiety got the better of her. She was trying though to keep enough courage to keep talking. She knew if she went quiet it could make the others uneasy and that was the last thing she wanted to do. Whisper's gaze drifted to the other stallion again, wondering what his next move would be, and then returning her gaze to Arabella as she wondered what she would do also as they both seemed quite quiet. She shivered for a moment as the winter weather began to set in, the wind chillier then it had been when it was autumn.

"So, where is everyone heading to?"

Arabella // 2 years old // przewalski x fell // mentions - open // Location - grassy meadow
(Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been home :P)
Arabella felt like this group of horses would make a good herd, they all seemed somewhat kind and understanding. But that could all change if a herd was to form so she didn't want to suggest anything about it.

"I'm not really sure where I'm going." She paused and looked around, "It's pretty nice here, plenty of food. Then again I suspect other species of animals think that too, so this place must et pretty un-safe at times."

She then took a mouthful of grass, "Please excuse me, ahah. I should probably eat while I can." She pawed the ground slightly, moving the grass into a partial heap. Then she took a few more chunks of grass, the crunching noise was refreshing. She wasn't really one to make conversation, so she didn't attempt to communicate with any of the other horses.

Magus|7 years old|Spanish Mustang|Mentions: Arabella, Anika, Whisper, Chief

The bay stallion's long stride canter had carried him far and now he could see the surface of the lake glistening in the sun's rays. Silhouetted besides the lake was a small band of horses that interested the chocolate lad. Unfortunately he was up wind of the group so scent was rendered useless. Instead a joyful and friendly whinny was issued from the beast's depths as he continued closer. Eager hooves slowed to a forward walk as his head tossed in excitement, throwing his long coal forelock over his cocoa eyes. Said orbs searched the group over for any type of reaction towards the eager stallion within the horses gathered.

As he got closer he spotted the noticeable and unmistakable crest of a stallion. You see, a stallion's neck is thicker than a mare's and this gave it away to Magus. His drumming hooves became still and silent as he stopped and his ears stood erect and alert. Black tail was carried high and nostrils flared but his attempts at identification were rendered fruitless. Every exhale was marked by a long and breathy snort while his ears flicked wildly.

Chief| 3 1/2 years old| Kriger Mustang X Caspian Horse| Location: River| Mentions: Open

A dapple grey pelt shivered as the muscles beneath twitched and tensed. As the other stallion's body language became more tense, so did Chief's. It was instinctual, but he still had no intent on fighting this new male. His nostrils flared and head rose to his full height, his ears were pricked forward, listening for any kind of aggression. Instead of issuing a challenge, the stallion took it upon himself to let out a welcoming whinny. Maybe this would ease the tension that was quickly becoming palpable in the air. He was in no way the leader of these mares, so there was no competition to be had. Besides, the time to fight was not right now. They were in a very unstable place. At any moment ranchers could come for them, and maybe even predators. Getting distracted would easily be the end of them.

Upon noticing the bay stallion drawing closer, Whisper side stepped closer towards Arabella so that she was placed between them and the two stallions. For now it didn't look like they were going to fight but she didn't want to take any chances. Snorting softly, Whisper looked around at all the horses around her and noticed despite all the diversity as well as there being two stallions that everyone seemed to be getting along. The wind was getting chillier, frost beginning to cover the ground as winter well and truly began to set in. It was dangerous to linger in No Man's Land, she'd heard rumours of predators and humans on her journey tended to appear here and in the forest a lot more then in any other territory. She knew it would be wise to join a herd or to make a herd and briefly wondered if all the horses gathered could make a herd. Perhaps the two stallions could even co-lead the herd together? Although if that happened then they'd have to agree on a Lead Female together.

Her thoughts were stopped though as she felt a sudden stillness appear over the meadow. Her head and ears swivelled this way and that as her body tensed.

Event Notification!

Tan fur shot out of the tall grass, sharp fangs bared as a fierce snarl left the mountain lion's throat. With fast, large paws the big cat bolted through the meadow towards the gathering of horses and setting its sight on what it deemed the weakest of the herd - the youngster Arabella.

Arabella could sense the tension between the two males and she two became more tense and aware of her surroundings. A cool breeze caused her body to ripple in a shiver-like way, her tail flicked too. She went to resume eating when she heard rustling in the grass, her ears instantly pricked up and she let out a small whinny. It was probably just the wind, but Arabella wasn't one to take risks. It's better to alert the group over nothing, than to not alert them and get killed.

She may be strong and stubborn, but she is young and smart too, she noticed the blur of fur shoving grass out of it's path and heading directly towards the group. It wasn't making an attempt to hide anymore, it wasn't going to retreat by the looks of things either. She quickly darted off, her bloodline meant she had plenty of stamina to keep running, but was she faster than this animal? She hadn't had time to see it properly so she wasn't sure what she was up against. She just hoped the other horses knew what to do. All she could do now was instinctively flee.

Chief/ 3 1/2 years old/ Kiger mustang X Caspian Horse/ Location: Traveling/ Mentions: Open

A furious neigh broke free of the stallion's throat. He reared momentarily, and large hooves were already carrying him forward when they hit the dirt. Rippling muscles steamed as his long legs ate up the ground, and water splashed around him as his huge body crashed through the river. Chief snorted as the mountain lion got closer to the young filly, but he didn't let that get to him. Pushing himself harder, the young stallion gained speed and momentum, until he was right beside the large predator. Sharp hooves hit flesh as he launched himself sideways, sending the big cat flying. It hit the ground hard, momentarily stunned by the impact. Chief reared again, daring it to come any closer. No one would be killed on his watch. He tossed his head, charging the evil intruder with renewed force. This thing had a fight on its claws. Since Chief was such a young stallion, his body was strong and he had seemingly neverending stamina, which always proved to be an advantage in a fight. His lineage allowed him a fierceness that only a mustang could have.

Whisper couldn't help but rear at the sight of the cat, ears pinned back as she let out a fierce whinny in the predator's reaction. Protective instincts flooded through her as she manouvered herself between Arabella and the cat. She was grateful, however, there was a stallion around to fight the cat. Despite her bulky body she had no fighting experience what-so-ever and just the mere thought of confronting the mountain lion terrified her. She turned her head just enough to catch the sight of the young filly fleeing before she returned her gaze onto the predator currently fighting the stallion. As much as she wanted to go after Arabella she knew she'd feel guilty if she did so for leaving Chief behind with the big cat. Despite her fear Whisper tentatively stepped forward until she was close enough to rear again, this time her hooves striking out at the cat as well.
