Labyrinth has a fairly massive, but short torso set on long legs. Her hind legs are significantly shorter than her forelimbs, giving her the typical sloping back of all hyenas. Her legs are relatively thin and weak, with an obvious bend in her wrist. Her neck is thick, long and largely immobile, while her head is heavy and massive with a shortened facial region. Her eyes are relatively small, while her rounded ears are very large, broad and set high on the head. Like all hyenas, Labyrinth has bulky pads on her paws, as well as blunt but powerful claws. Her tail is short and the terminal hairs do not descend below her achilles tendon.

Her winter coat is unusually long and uniform for an animal her size, with a luxuriant mane of tough, long hairs along the back from her skull to the base of her tail. Her coat is generally coarse and bristly, though this varies according to season. In winter, her coat is fairly dense, soft, and has well-developed underfur. In summer, her coat is much shorter and coarser, and lacks underfur, though her mane remains large. In winter, her coat is usually of a dirty-brownish grey or dirty gray color. The hairs of her mane are light grey or white at the base, and black or dark brown at the tips. The fur at her muzzle is dark, greyish brown, brownish-grey or black, while the top of the head and cheeks are more lightly colored. Her ears are almost black. A large black spot is present on the front of her neck, and is separated from her chin by a patch of lighter fur. A patch of dark fur stretches from her flanks to the rear of her cheeks. The inner and outer surface of her forelegs are covered with small dark spots and transverse stripes. Her flanks have four indistinct dark vertical stripes and rows of diffused spots. The outer surface of her thighs has 3-4 distinct vertical or oblique dark bands which merge into transverse stripes in the lower portion of her legs. The tip of her tail is black with white underfur.

Labyrinth has held onto her position as Matriarch through many fights. She bears three scars across her muzzle from a lion, plus uncounted amounts of scars from hyena fights.

Just as her name suggests, Labyrinth has a myriad of personality traits, some of them contradictory. She is multi-faceted and cannot be described in one word, or even one paragraph. To start, Labyrinth isn't too fond of strangers. She is not rude, however she is not friendly to those she does not know. Often times, she will not acknowledge those who are new to her, acting as if they do not exist at all. However, she will watch them closely, trying to determine their intentions and whether or not she should allow them to get closer to her. If she deems the newcomer worthy, she will begin to speak to them, usually simply answering questions directly aimed at her. Labyrinth figures that if that person can tolerate her short responses long enough to actually get to know her, then they must be alright.

However, once she considers someone her friend, Labyrinth's demeanor changes drastically. With her friends, Labyrinth is over-the-top and easily excitable. She still doesn't speak much, but her body language makes it obvious that her opinion of that person has changed. As well as being incredibly friendly, this hyena is also very protective of her friends and relatives. She will not hesitate to throw herself into battle to protect their safety. In such battles, Labyrinth is nearly unstoppable, her fury driving her through the most painful of her injuries.

When she is alone, Labyrinth's personality changes once again. Labyrinth hates total silence, and will do any number of things to break it, most often chattering softly to herself. She also enjoys playing with her food when she's caught it by herself, tearing into it with her powerful jaws and tossing it over her shoulder. Another of her favorite things to do is to collect lose feathers and fashion them into a pup-sized bed of sorts. She never uses this bed, and has never told anyone why she does this, however she is incredibly possessive of these small beds whenever she has enough feathers to make them.

So, in short, Labyrinth loves others, but she doesn't. She hates to be alone, but she doesn't like crowds. She also has a very impressive temper, although this is not unusual of a hyena.

Labyrinth was born to the leader of a hyena clan, making her a princess of sorts. Because of her mother's high rank, the little cub was allowed special preferences, such as eating before the other members and getting the best portions of the kills. However, she was also constantly fighting with her sisters to keep her position as top cub. Things continued on like this for a few years until one night her mother was killed by a well-placed lion paw. Suddenly the clan was plunged into chaos, and Labyrinth's life of luxury was over. Now she was chased away from meals, and constantly snapped at. It seemed her rank was not a cemented as she'd originally thought.

A couple of weeks after her mother's death, after losing her claw in a spat over food, Labyrinth was on her own. Life was suddenly much harder for the young female, and she began to slowly starve. Finally one day, she was lucky enough to stumble across a young wildebeest that was trapped in thick, heavy mud. With a cry of glee, the hyena female flung herself at it, eating her first meal in weeks. She gorged herself before dragging her engorged body to a nearby badger den and curling up to sleep. She survived for years this way until she finally started her own clan. She has been the matriarch of this clan since its inception.

Description:
Adowa has a gently tannish-bwon coloured pelt, which is covered in dark brown to blackish spots all over. Around her muzzle is a darker brown colouration. Her undersaide and on the insider of her legs are a lighterm creamier colour than the rest of her body. Her winter coat is longer than her summer one by around an inch, protecting her from the colder nights and possible monsoons. Her hair however tends to be varying in length, the longer patches being the top of ehr back and her belly. During the warmer summer months her coat becomes shorter, also having a coarse feel to it due to the heat.

She has a more slender build than her mother, both sets of her legs being about equal in their length. This means her back is relatively horizontal, with only a slight incline downwards. With her longer legs it tends to make her swifter, although she does give up a certain amount of strength with these gangly limbs. Her torso holds more length wise than width wise, giving her a more slender build. Her muzzle and ears are rather large considering her build, but her eyes seem rather proportional.

Due to her young age and status Adowa doesn;t really have any scars, although there is a small one on her chest from a warthog.

Personality:
Adowa holds her mother high in her regards as a role model, so will often attempt to copy the matriarch. Although she attempts to mimic what she deems as leadership behaviour, her own perosnality can sometimes affect how this is done. When it comes to canids within the clan, she is playful and easily exciteable, although this is mostly due to her younger age. When it comes to loners her true leadership qualities come out, the female has no problem showing her dominance. Unlike her mother however, she will attempt to do this with body language rather than fighting. If she doesn;t get her way though she's not afraid to resort to a good scrap. She is a more tactical hyena, allowing herself to remain calm in situations rather than allowing anger to drive her. It takes a lot to anger this young girl, but if you do she will unleash all fury upon you. It is clear in these outbursts what she is capeable of, although they tend to be few and far between. This inquisitive youngster enjoys going off and exploring, finding out about the world around her. This curious behaviour can often lead to her getting into troublesome situations, such as with a warthog she encountered. Her main quality thought is her loyalness to her clan, she would never abandon anyone within it. Her loyalty is firece, she would be unable to leave her pack as it would simply kill her.

History:
Adowa was born into the clan a couple of years ago, luckily being born to the matriarch. This instantly set the cub into a high rank, meaning her chances of survival were higher than they could've been. Born into the communal den she began to get to know the smells of pack members at an early age, this also meant there was usually an adult to ensure her safety. This safe environment encouraged her curious nature. The early part of her life was incredibly easy, she spent her days learning important skills as play. However once she was just over a year old that she began to be weaned, enjoying the first taste of meat she'd ever had. This was the time in her life where those play skills would come into practice. Helping out on a few small group hunts she learned what she needed to quickly, soon she felt ready to hunt alone. Her first hunt went not so well, she attempted to take down a wart hog and its tusk injured her chest. It was a deep cut, but luckily nothing vital was hit and all that was left was a scar. That day taught her to be cafeful whilst hunting, although she still has a lot more life lessons to learn.

Male hyenas are smaller than females, but he is smaller than the average male. He only weights 102lbs and stands 27 inches at the shoulders. Apart from being small, his fur is a very light yellow, mixed in with brown. Like his eyes, his fur is also honey, but a light honey. It helps him blend in more with the desert landscape during the dry seasons. The tall yellow grasses almost camouflages him when hunting or just plain stalking.

Under the fur, he has a decent about of muscle mass and most of that goes to his body weight. Do to being a low ranking male, he doesn't get to eat much, so he is actually underweight. Do to this, he spends his time scavenging for food, eating leftover scrapes.

In his right ear, there is a tare from being attacked by a females constantly. His back and rear end is covered in scares from bites when being 'disciplined' and/or bullied. Not too long ago, he was bitten on the bottom of his snoat, leaving an scad.

Spotted hyenas don't have a mane, but some some reason, he actually has a mane like a Striped Hyena, but it's small, about half the size.
Personality

History
Being the cousin of the matriarch, they means his mother was the sister of her mother. When he was young, he always kept to himself or played with the other male pups. The females were just too rough for him.

Description
Kolben is a larger then average male, making him roughly the same size as a small female. Due to being the dominant male, he gets to be the first male to eat after all the female have finished so he has a decent weight to him. He has quite a few scars on his rump and legs from just being a male but his most prominent one is a crescent shape on his right cheek underneath his eye. He's also missing half an inch of the top of his tail but it's hardly noticeable unless he's flagging his tail. While his legs are darker due to the thinning fur all hyenas have, they're not black like some. The only black he has besides his spots are on his muzzle.

Personality
A cunning male, Kolben often prefers to outsmart his opponents rather then using his brawn. That's not to say he doesn't throw his weight around with other males when needed but he'll often use the environment, females, or other animals to get them in trouble and weakened first. The only time this isn't true is when around in heat females that aren't closely related to him, in which case he'll rip into any males that come near them. His smarts are also what made him indispensable to Labyrinth as he can come up with unique solutions to difficult problems. When it comes to hunting or scavenging, he always accompanies to the Matriarch unless she tells him otherwise, in which case he'll strike out on his own for the day. He is very much in love with her and doesn't mind if that love is one sided.

Koben prefers to spend all his time in the company of high ranking females, specifically Labyrinth and the princesses, and spends very little time with low ranking females and other males. His devotion to the Matriach is almost blind and is more then willing to join in any fight with her if there's even the tiniest chance of the clan winning. The devotion to the rest of the clan is at a sliding scale. With males, he'll never join their fights unless the queen or a princess does. Koben will often even just sit back and watch the male, finding it entertaining to see them meet their doom. He might join the fights of low-ranking females but will quickly abandon them should the odds be in the favor of the opponent.

Koben was born the matriarch of another clan, which accounts for his larger size and dominant personality. However, he ended up being too closely related to the females in that clan, causing him to strike out on his own when he became sexually mature. He was truly on his own for a few months before he met Labyrinth and he chose to tag along with her even while she was giving him the cold shoulder. He has been with her ever since.
