(( Oh, sorry. Forgot about that >.< )) Rina nodded as he returned. She took off the belt around the jacket she wore and took the small boards. She leaned down and put one on the outside of her ankle, one on the inside, and the smallest one on the heel of ther foot, connecting the other two rods. She wrapped the belt around her ankle and under her foot, making sure everything would stay together and be tight enough to keep her ankle straight. When it was finished, she knotted the belt, tight. After the initial pain of jolting her ankle while making the splint, once it was finish, it felt better. She stood up, keeping her weight on her right foot. "Thanks. I'm Rina Terrant, by the way." She watched as Katy took a liking to this new person. She must have just been scared earlier. Rina had never seen her dog growl at a person unless she thought Rina was being threatened by them-- which even then was rare. Rina looked around, trying to find any branches that fell from any of the few trees that were around. Rina tilted her head as she looked around the neighborhood. It looked as if only the top halves of some of the houses were affected, and they collapsed inwards. "Uhm... Matthew?" She asked, turning in a three-sixty. "Would you happen to know what happened?" It didn't look quite like an earthquake, but it felt like it... Then again, it didn't sound like one. But what else could have happened? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Matthew smiled. "Pleasure to meet you, Rina. I've seen you walk your dog plenty of times. Katy really is a sweetie." He scratched at her ears again, and Katy slightly wagged her tail. Matt bit his lip, studying house she placed the wood around her foot. She was very skilled at things like that. "Wow.. You're very good." He smiled, showing her his white teeth. When the question was asked, he shrugged. "All I remember was I was cooking some pasta, and then everything went black. I thought I maybe have blown up my kitchen.. But, when I woke up, I heard you calling for help. And then, the entire neighborhood was destroyed Then, I found you." He smiled gently. Matthew looked to his fallen house. "We should get on the move tomorrow. Of course, for your ankle to feel better. I have a spare tent somewhere.." The rest of his house fell, making Matt frown. The clouds suddenly became grey, making him shudder. "Or, we could get on the move, now.. Up to you. If your ankle is okay." Katy nudged his hand, and he brushed down her ears softly. Matthew looked up to Rina once more. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Rina felt her cheeks flush for a moment before she turned and returned to her former mission. "Ah, well, patching up a human isn't too different from patching up an animal." She gave a small shrug. Humans and animals weren't too far off. Main differences were formations and diseases, but within those differences were so many similarities. "Ah." Rina exclaimed quietly to herself as she half listened to what Matthew said. She limped over to the edge of her property, towards the back, where she bent down and picked up a large stick that was just slightly taller than herself. It was about two inches thick at one end and less than an inch thick at the other end. She snapped off some of the remaining branches that would get in her way. Once finished, she held it in her left hand, making a make-shift cane, a hikers stick. She returned to the front, walking slightly better. "A day won't do much, especially if I don't have any ice or, I don't know, ibuprofen, for the swelling and pain." She walked closer to them and slowly sat down, rubbing Katy's back legs and back. "I think we should try to scavenge whatever we can before leaving, though." She suggested. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Matthew nodded, standing slowly. He glanced around, squinting his eyes at the soot flying everywhere. He coughed, holding his hand over his mouth. "Alright.. You're probably right. I wouldn't want you to be injured than you already are. I just don't know where we'd stay.., he muttered, scratching the top of his head. He ruffled his hair, only to make it messier, and sighed. Matt bit his lip, scratching his neck. "You stay here. I'm going to look for anything stable enough for shelter..." He began to walk off of her property, stepping over fallen trees and broken cement. He looked around, his eyes roaming over every last bit of the neighborhood he loved. Matthew pushed away some rubble, only to find the gruesome sight of a woman lying on the floor, staring at him with cold eyes. He gagged, holding his hand over his dry lips. He stepped back, his eyes wide. That was just horrible.. Matt walked away from the home and the fallen woman. He found a cabin behind a fair amount of trees, only a few cracks along the walls. He sauntered inside, staying as calm as possible. There were a few couches and chairs, which would count as some beds. He nodded, making his way back towards Rina. "I found a cabin.. It's not too shaken up, but it'll do.." 0 players like this post! Like? |

As Matthew left, Rina pulled Katy closer to her, inspecting every limb of the pup. "Where'd you go off to eaelier?" Rina wondered aloud, gently squeezing each of her legs to see if there was any pain in any. After looking at her legs and tail, Rina took the dogs paws and looked to see if she had stepped on any nails or splintered wood. "Awww, poor pup." Rina cooed, finding a scratch on Katy's front right paw, on the pad of her paw. Rina pulled Katy closer so that her paw reached Rina's pants. She gently wiped the paw against the soft material of hee pants, gently dabbing at the wound until the blooding slowed. Rina bent down and slid off her sock, leaving her foot bare. She'd need to go into the wreckage and rummage for anything useful she could find. Medical supples, clothes, shoes, food. For now, she just ripped a portion of the upper half of the sock off. She placed Katies paw in the bottom half and used the top half to keep it on and closed. By the time Matthew had returned, Rina had fotten up and started making her way to the house. She picked her way carefully, making sure to watch out for any weak spots, using the stick to spot her way. "If you were able to spot it so soon," Rina said, her breathing coming heavily as she became extremely exhausted. "Then it's probably too close. We need... To... Neet to travel as far as we... Can." Rina stopped to breath, squeezing her eyes shut and pushing out the throbbing of her head. "We probably... Should only stay there for one night..." She opened her eyes, trying to control her breathing now. She spotted some bright colors. She went over to them and picked them out. It was one of her sneakers, and the other half of the pair was next to them. She threw them out of the wreckage, to the side. She pulled out a coat she's had by the doreway, throwing it to the side as well. Further in, she found a blanket, and then she became to tired to go any further. She limped to the end of the wreckage, panting, the throbbing getring louder and louder. She picked up the blanket and sneakers, slipping one on, and putting the blanket around her shoulders. "S-sorry, i couldn't find anything... More." she leaned heavily on the stick and held a hand to her forehead, willing the pain away. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Matthew studied her movements, noticing her slowing down and her heavy breathing. She'd also hesitated on most of her words, making him worried. Is she okay? Is she going to pass out? .. he thought to himself. He stood up as she leaned onto her stick, walking to her and setting a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Perfectly fine.. I'll find anything else. You steady your breathing and sit for a while. Once your okay, you can relax for a bit." Matt smiled calmly, knowing she was stressed and injured, which wasn't a good thing for a problem like this.. What could be the ending of the Earth.. Matthew dug through the broken walls and boards of wood, cutting his arms a couple of times. The veins in his biceps popped up as he heaved up a pile of rubble, throwing it aside. He found another blanket, few rips in it from the impact of the thing. Matt also found a leash for Katy, which would come in handy once they got on the move or if Rina needed any sort of leading. After Matthew finished his roaming, he backed away from the rest of the house. In the pile of his findings was a ripped blanket, a leash, a few socks, and a shirt that would most likely fit Rina more than himself. Matt turned to Rina, wiping his hands along his jeans. "Feeling better?" he asked, squatting in front of her. Katy sat beside Rina, occasionally licking her hand with affectionate licks. Matthew bit his lip, allowing himself to fully glance over the woman. Her piercing green eyes were absolutely stunning, matching the green leaves of trees in a new spring. Her orange, creamy hair reminded him of the many times he played with his younger sister, Adaley. She was a sweetheart, always standing by her brother. They were so close, they couldn't be separated. Matthew missed Adaley and her smile. She was probably up in the sky, in Heaven, watching down on the two adults. Matt sighed at the thought of Adaley, looking away from Rina to the now dead grass beside them. (( Late reply! So sorry! I've been writing a book for a customer, and school work as well.. So stressful! *dies* )) 0 players like this post! Like? |
