So I looked around and couldn't find anything similar that people had written.

My suggestion is to have a pop up when sending a score asking:

"Are you sure you want to submit this score?"

I can't count how many times I have sent a score without meaning to as I tried to press the new game button, I think this would save a lot of aggravation ^^
