Welcome to Sunhold

Built at the borders of a murky swamp, and a nearby forest, the city of Sunhold is a fully modernized wonder. Its elegance is matched by the backdrop of majestic forests which have helped shape the city to what it is today.
Besides the resources these forests brought, they were also influential when it came to architectural designs, as the vast majority of buildings have been built with both materials and stylistic shapes of the forests.

The skyline is sprinkled with towering skyscrapers and many show their age and a rich history. Science and development is flourishing in Sunhold and it has attracted a lot of attention. Various cultures have left their mark not just on the city's cuisine, but also upon the city's identity. What historically was a city of plain, ordinary people has grown into a large melting pot and it's this that unites the 13 million people to this day.

It's this multicultural identity that has truly left its mark. Hundreds of ethnic restaurants, concession stands and bars offer a plethora of culinary choices and those who feel hungry for something else can enjoy sightseeing, dance, the national park or one of the many other recreational venues.

Only a year has passed since the great war began. Guild turning on guild in panic - there are few active hunters left. The inactive have been cast out - abandoned by their former guildmates and left to die. PTSD wrack the minds of those left behind - and many suffer from intense injuries. Broken bones, missing limbs, and in some of the worst cases, brain damage.

The monsters are out of control - humans stay in their homes. Panicked and starved. Only the most desperate manage to keep their businesses up and running. Whether out of bravery, or stupidity, no one really knows. The city, which once stood strong as a monument to those who dwelled within it, is now broken down. The many buildings have fallen in to disrepair - graffiti decorates the once glorious Sunhold with feelings of hopelessness and despair. Sunhold's once active subway system has been abandoned - its underground shafts now filled with radioactivity - and creatures of the night.

Degenerates, gangs, and monsters rule the long forgotten city; and with the surviving guilds working on their own agenda, it seems as if the end of society is near.

Holly drew away from her computer, the hard metal click of the wheel locks on her chair sounding as she turned. She was dressed in a pale yellow dress, decorated by slightly darker yellow flowers. She had knee-high stockings, and a pair of milky-white ballet shoes on her function-less feet. A white hairband kept her thick, flowing ebony locks out of her eyes, and a pair of brass-framed glasses rested on the tip of her nose. Holly always made the effort to look nice, no matter the occasion. It just so happened that, today, her effort would pay off.

She pulled her phone out of the pouch of her wheelchair, quickly sifting through her contact list to find the pizza place. A short call later, and a pizza was on the way. Now all she had to do was straighten up the place a bit.

She rolled through the rooms of her small apartment, picking up pieces of dirty laundry and old bloody bandages. Since the war, people did what they had to, to make ends meet. While it wasn't the highlight of her life, she'd taken in more than a few strangers, stitched them up, and sent them on their way. Her medical training was minimal, but it was enough to get her paid a little bit here and there.

When she reached the kitchen, she threw away most of the old bandages, and pulled a few plates and glasses out of her cupboards. After placing them on the counter, she returned to her bedroom, to drop off the clothes. On her way back, she passed the empty room. She'd never much liked it. It gave her an odd, unwelcoming feeling. Thats why, despite it being bigger, she chose the other room. Hopefully within the next few weeks, Nathan would take that room for himself.

Holly had been on her own for roughly a year and a half - none of which had been easy on her. But she'd made her way as best she could. She couldn't deny the excitement of having someone to spend time with, though. Even if it was only on missions. Home just seems more.. homey, when you have someone to share it with.

Now, all she had to do was wait for Nathan - and the pizza, of course. Her worries could wait another night or two.

As Nathan finished straightening out his jacket, he opened up the door and quietly closed it behind him after stepping outside. He pulled out his phone to check the time and quickly walked to the front gate opening it up and walking outside. It was fresh outside and Nathan was excited to see his old partner.

The last time they worked together they had been together until they were split up because of the Verdi Guild. It'd only been couple of minutes before he arrived, and needless to say, he was both excited and nervous.

He opened up her gate and walked over to the front door. With one deep breath, he pressed on the door bell and quietly waited.

At the gentle sound of her doorbell, Holly drew herself away from the living room, and rolled quietly to the door. Her cracked wheels ticked against the floorboards, causing them to give off a loud, menacing creek. With a soft breath, she reached up, and unlocked the door. One bolt, two small chains. It wasn't much, but it'd kept her safe this long.

"Come on in." She spoke; loud enough to be heard, but barely. With that, she made her way back to the living room. Glancing off the connection kitchen/dining area, Holly smiled. She liked the warmth of her little home. It may not have been the most pristine, but it had that soft, lived in feeling.

Carefully, she pulled herself up and out of her wheelchair. With ease she slid herself in to a position on the couch, trying to make herself as presentable as possible. It was obvious she'd grown used to not being able to use her legs. Her upper arms and hands were very toned - most likely from time spent pushing herself around. As a matter of fact, her whole body was rather lithe. A very thin frame, and a muscular body. If not for her face she'd hardly even be considered feminine. But none of that mattered now.

She struggled to maintain her normally stern composure. She found herself fidgeting, anxiety getting the better of her as she waiting for Nathan to walk in. It'd been a long time since they'd seen eachother; and while he seemed excited, Holly had her doubts.

As Nathan walked in, he turned to Holly and smiled. "Hey." Nathan was excited to be there with her, on a "date". It was a stupid joke but Nathan quite honestly did miss Holly. It had been two years but he still felt somewhat of a connection to her. They had been partners for awhile and had been through what he felt was a lot.

"How are things?" Nathan walked over to the opposing seat. "Mind if I sit?" He smiled again and looked at Holly. She was taking very good care of herself. She looked cute. She hardly had changed.

He looked at her old worn out wheelchair. It was the same exact chair since they had met. It had seemed like just a few days ago they were both back at that theater. Where he "saved" her. But of course, Holly being Holly, would never admit that he had.

"Hey." She mouthed, motioning for him to take whatever seat he cared for. She allowed a polite silence to settle for a few moments - maybe to let him look over the apartment, or maybe to let herself adjust to his presence. Her gaze skirted the small room, and she shifted her weight. The apartment smelled faintly of vanilla, and freshly baked cookies. Not something easy to achieve, but, worth the effort. It would've been horrific for Nathan to show up and have him smell moldy water - or worse.

And, on the subject of Nathan. He looked good. Time had been good to him - and he'd matured well. Better than she had. His jawline was more define, less baby fat. He was taller now, too. To top it all off, he had a sturdy frame, and he seemed to be in shape. His figure was accentuated well by his sheer, button up shirt. Black looked good on him. Holly appreciated that his attire wasn't overly formal, though. Blue jeans and a pair of sneakers were a good choice. It made him seem more comfortable with her - something most people weren't.

Shaking her head briefly, she returned her gaze to Nathan, meeting his eyes. "Things are.. alright." Holly did her best to make idle chit-chat. "And you?"
