I have a variety of October Event Decor Ideas. They were initially inspired by this post. Mummies: Pretty straightforward. When a lot of people think of Egypt they think of....MUMMIES. And humans were not the only things mummified by the ancient Egyptians. There were also cats, crocodiles, ibises, and other various creatures. It might be fun to have this as a decor idea for the haunted month. Undead: We have some undead and zombie decor (the hyena and zebra), but I'd like to see more. It could also play off the previous one perhaps a previously mummified animal coming back to life. Monsters/Cryptids/Legendaries Africa has a rich folklore that can differ on region, tribe and country. There are some pretty bizarre creatures that show up in the stories. It might be fun to have a few of these turned into decors. Perhaps you can find "tokens" for these creatures, similar to the fossils. Perhaps an unusual claw, piece of horn, feather, etc. The token will be an identifier for the creature. These tokens can either be collected year round or event only, found only in certain explore zones, or through another means. The tokens could then be turned into the decor like with the fossils. Ninki Nanka It is almost dragon like in descriptions with a combination of animal parts that include horse, crocodile, and giraffe. Origin: Gambia Link: Ninki Nanka Illustration and Information Token: Scale Popobawa A horrifying one eyed bat that has had numerous reports starting in about the 1960's. Origin: Zanzibar and Tanzania Token: Bat Wing Impundulu "Lightning Bird" For this, think Zapdos but with a taste for blood. That's right. Vampire Zapdos. Origin: South Africa Link: Impundulu Illustration and Info Token: Feather Inkanyamba A large serpent with the head of a horse or zebra is the most common description of this creature that lives in lakes. This one could possibly require more tokens and be created into the background with Howick Falls (where it is most commonly said to reside) and the creature. Origin: South Africa/Zulu Token: Horse Hair Howick Falls, home of the Inkanyamba What do you think? Have any ideas or comments? Thank you for your time~ |
