Throughout all of history, cats and dogs have been regarded as mortal enemies. And nature's proven this no different: wolves against cougars, hyenas (though they're not true dogs), jackals, and african wild dogs against lions, dholes against tigers, the list goes on. And these clans are no exception.

For centuries, three clans of big cats have dominated these lands: Solclan, full of powerful and highly dominant lions; Shadeclan, the secretive clan of tigers; and Roseclan, a collection of leopards, jaguars, and cats of similar stature. Without human influence, the three clans have grown to large sizes and thrived, learning to coexist within their own borders and, by extension, becoming more social than their non-clan cousins. But they are not alone. For nearly as long as the cats have survived here, they have shared the island with a group of canines¹. Having been proven the weakest and by far the least dominant, the canines were driven into "The Mud," a small swamp on the far-east coast.

These "Dogs," as they're referred to by the cats, have been forcefully separated from traditional customs such as warrior names, Gatherings, and the blessings of Starclan. Because of this, leaders don't traditionally receive nine lives. To compensate, leaders are placed under strict protection and are not allowed to leave the camp. Still, replacing leaders is not uncommon, especially during Leafbare.

But recently, a powerful spotted hyena named Rat has risen to power and begun rallying for equal treatment, posing a serious threat to the other clans. She began her rule by reversing the forced separation from Starclan, allowing her disciples to have true warrior names and dubbing the group Mudclan, embracing their less-than-ideal home. In the beginning, the cats chose to ignore the rise of Mudclan, but now, as the mysterious death of a young lion surfaces, Ratstar is being seen as more of a threat.

•Solclan•

A pride of lions headed by Eveningstar, a kind lion with snowy white fur. The clan occupies a hot, arid plain of savannah dotted with caves both underground and on the surface where they make their home. The hunters find hearty meals in the numerous gazelle, impala, giraffe, antelope, and zebra that roam the plains. Unlike normal lion prides, more than one male is allowed and they may love any lioness they choose.

•Shadeclan•

A close-knit group of tigers led by Scorchstar, a powerful, brutal male . Their territory consists of dense jungle, several small islands, and a maze of rivers. Although tigers are usually solitary cats, the stealthy Shadeclan cats are much more social, though sometimes need their own space. Deer, monkeys, apes, hogs, and boar are often found in the trees and on the islands, but some large fish in the ocean and rivers.

•Roseclan•

An amalgamation of species, Roseclan is governed by a well-spoken snow leopard named Swanstar. Just like its population, the territory consists of several different climates: Snowy mountains, forests, plains, and a small section of jungle overlapping from Shadeclan. All sorts of prey are found here, from hare to deer to mountain goats.

•Mudclan•

Home to hyenas and all species of canine, especially wolves, dholes, AWDs, jackals, coyotes, and the like. (Due to lack of humans, there are no domesticated dogs.) This clan is ruled by the militant, tough spotted hyena called Ratstar. The canines live in the unwanted section of the island: a murky swamp populated by snakes and various ilk. The prey here is sparse, so the canines rely on catching the large boas, caimans, birds, boar, and odd deer that can be found in the territory. When not enough food is available, Mudclan dogs may even resort to thievery.

•Rules & Guidelines•

• All LioDen roleplay rules apply.

• Powerplay and godmodding are unacceptable. You WILL be called out.

• All mature content must either fade to black or be taken off-site. Mild violence and innuendo should be fine so long as you are mindful not to overdo it and respect the boundaries of your fellow roleplayer.

• This is intended to be an literate/advanced roleplay. You will be required to post at least one paragraph (5 sentences) with proper spelling and grammar. Occasional writer's block is understandable.

• Please be active. Let me or PotatoLord know if you are taking a hiatus or need to drop the roleplay. Keep in mind if you take a high position and disappear without warning, your character will be replaced to keep things moving.

• DO NOT answer questions from/welcome brand new RPers. Direct them to me or PotatoLord instead.

• You may have as many characters as you wish so long as you are active with all of them.

• Swearing is allowed in moderation.

• Hybrid characters (ligers, tigons, leopons, lipards) will be limited. It isn't a disgrace within the clans, but very much frowned upon because of the heavy genetic defects.

• The naming and ranking system used here is very similar of the Warriors novel series.

• Hate the character, not the player.

• Cubs become Apprentices at 6 moons, Apprentices become Warriors at 24 moons/2 years.

• Limit 1x1. Please wait for at least three people to post after you before responding again. If it's been a couples days with no responses than feel free to go ahead and reply again.

• Your characters can't have a close, non-familial relationship to each other.
