Well, with August coming in and my general writer mood, thought I'd toss in my own Event Storyline suggestion. It involves the two lion NPCs during August: Maahes and Sekhmet. It may also involve the Peddler, but that may end up later.

I know it can't happen this year, but I just wanted to get the idea out.


I think a quest system, a cross between May and July, would be good. From completing quests, you can have a karma boost and other rewards. You can gain reputation, which you can spend for Dry Bones or Carrion Beetles.

Storyline

Part 1

The sun burns high in the sky, scorching the earth. The days of adequate water and prey has long since become distant memories. And as you pad across dusty remains of the once-glorious savannahs, only one thought remains in your mind: finding sustenance. But of course, in this barren land, even the smallest forms of life were hard to find.

Seems that fate was on your side; you come across a watering hole, brimming with the life-giving liquid. Without another thought, you gulp as much water as you can.
"Must've been thirsty, eh?" a hoarse voice rasps.
You jerk your head up. A heavily-scarred lioness grins at you, and not pleasantly so.

>*insert question here along the lines of WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?* (3)

"Does it really matter?" the lioness snorts. "What matters are the humans." She flicks her ravaged tail in the direction of an uncomfortably close human pride.
"These wretched beings waste our precious resources. Can't you see them, pouring water on shrubs?"
You squint, and vaguely make out the figure of a human sprinkling water on some dry-looking bushes.
"That is water we need to drink. And they are using it."

The lioness licks her lips. "We hunt them."
Seeing the expression on your face, she lets out a hoarse laugh. "Human meat is good as zebra. Sure, you might have to eat more to fill your stomach, but they are far more plentiful than any other source of prey now."
She gives you a look of amusement. "Why don't you go over there and take one down."

You approach the human pride's lands, treading lightly as to not alert them. A few of the human cubs play out in the open, slightly away from the safety of their dens. Your mouth waters at the prospect of having tender meat in your stomach. Finally, a meal!
You ready yourself to pounce...

Before you can jump, a loud roar startles the human cubs. They run away, leaving you crouched uselessly in the wilted grass.
"What do you think you are doing?" A lion pushes his way past some dry reeds and glowers at you. "They are the protectors of the water and the prey! If you kill them, we shall all die!"
His expression softens as he assesses you. "Though I do understand that you are quite hungry, these humans are the key to everyone's survival. They are the only ones to find water where there is none, and feed the herds that would die in this wasteland."

"I am Maahes," the lion says. "I believe the humans will help us pull through these terrible times. However-"
A snarl cuts him short, and the scarred lioness barrels into Maahes. The two claw and bite at each other, leaving bloody marks all across their bodies.
They soon separate, growling at each other.
"You're listening to this bloody fool?" the lioness snaps.

"Unfortunately," Maahes rumbles. "Sekhmet, you know you are in the wrong-"
"Silence!" She slaps the lion across the face, leaving a fine smack-mark on his cheek. "These humans are prey, they will feed us with their bodies!"
Sekhmet whirls to face you, her good eye alight with fury. "If you know what's best for you and your pride, you would kill every human you can. Meet with me tonight in the badlands, and I can tell you what will really save your lions." She runs off, leaving you with Maahes.

"Sekhmet was always one to resort to the deaths of others," Maahes sighs. He stares at you with a solemn gaze. "If any of us are to survive this, you will have to let the humans help us. They are our hope. Come back here tonight. I have much to tell you."
He, too, leaves you. Casting a glance to the sky, you make your way home. Tonight, you may just visit one of them.
But who?

>Maahes- we shall save lives! (goes to his quest page)
>Sekhmet- the humans must die. (goes to her quest page)
>I think I'll pass on this bullshit for now. (no quest page)
[The choice is actually more like: "I do my job alone"]
