NO GOOD MAN - APPLICATIONS
A Literate-Advanced WIld West Roleplay

Mod: InsertCleverNameHere

Even if I've met you, I ask that you apply first. I am most inclined to accept those who can write a reasonable amount with correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure that will not try and control other characters and aspects of the roleplay. I reserve every right to reject your application, especially if you're applying for a special rank.

MARSHAL1 (Sandchapel)

Like any normal horseback patrol around the borders of Sandchapel, you come to the top of a cliff with your deputies and a small group of townsmen. A shout comes from behind and you turn to see one of your deputies with a pair of binoculars, looking down to the road at the base of the cliff and pointing. Following his finger, your trained eyes catch a cloud of dust created by a small group of men and women on horseback. At the head of the group is a pale horse splattered with coal black, one you recognize as Roaming Water's. And surely enough, the gun-toting outlaw woman gallops on, rifles, revolvers, and pistols strapped to her male garb. Hate burns in your heart. You'll have trouble hitting her from up here and her party is moving fast. Will you take the chance and shoot or try to chase after her? (Warning: you must fail.)

DEPUTY (Sandchapel)

On edge with recent string of murders, you are patrolling the the streets of Sandchapel with your hand loosely on your weapon, ready for any deviant attack. Light spills like blood onto the dark street as the general store's doors are flung open. The shopkeeper, a balding man with a bone white beard and a dirty apron, flags you down. Mister, he shouts, pointing due south, "Some outlaw varmint just stole $50 from my store! Catch him!" You turn quickly and spot the thief jumping onto a horse and charging swiftly out of town. How do you catch the burglar?

TOWNSFOLK (Sandchapel)

(Male) You walk into the local saloon as the sun creeps behind the mountains, casting a long shadow over the town of Sandchapel. The usual clamor of bar life reaches a crescendo as you enter and, peeking through the crowd of people, you spot a pair of men locked in a fistfight. Dodging a stray tooth as it launches past your face, you sidle up to the bar and lean on the alcohol-soaked wood counter. The bartender, his expression slightly sour, cleans a shot glass with an old bar rag and lifts an eyebrow at you. "One whiskey," you say gruffly, sliding two dollars across the counter. A moment later, you take your drink in your calloused fingers and tip it back. A few drinks later, your vision becomes blurred and your sense of reason is almost completely forgone. The winner of the barfight gives your shoulder a little shove and challenges you to a fight. Do you take the challenge?

(Female) As a storm rages overhead, you hear a knock on the door. Leaving your children in the main room, you bundle up the slip over your nightgown and brave the rain's bitter chill as you open the door. A lawman, soaking wet and dripping water, stands solemnly at your door. "Good evening, ma'am. I'm afraid I have some bad news," he says kindly, "May I come in?" What is the news and how will you react?

THE INFORMANT1 (Sandchapel)

You ride slowly along the streets, acclimating both yourself and your new horse to the streets of Sandchapel. The laws of the small town are nearly as foreign to you as you are to the town. What's more, you are painfully aware of just how thin the ice you are treading on actually is. Your face holds the scars of outlaw life, bright pink against your tanned skin. Mothers usher their children away from you as if protecting them from your influence. Men shout insults and spit at you, their malice heavy in the dust-filled air. Yet, you keep a straight face and plod on, calmly reassuring your horse whenever its skittishness flares up. Still, you are caught off-guard as a man yanks your horse's reins out of your hands — successfully panicking the already flighty steed — and threatens to pull you off if you don't promise to leave town. What do you do?

OUTLAW (Roaming Water's Gang)

Scream fill the air as you force the bank door open and point your weapon(s) at terrified tellers and citizens. You shout and they all drop to the floor. Your gang leader, Roaming Water, has entrusted you with this heist. Directing the men and women around you, you keep the bank tellers and townspeople on the floor and harmless. Carrying everything possible, your fellow outlaws stampede, whooping and hollering as they charge out the door. You turn and follow pursuit, hopping on the back of your horse. Behind you, lawmen begin their chase. How do you lose them and keep the cash?

OOC

1 Multiple applications will be reviewed as these are integral and important spots. Only apply if you're confident that you will be able to keep up with the RP and remain consistent.

Applying For: The Informant

Sandchapel.
Quaint, if not for the stirring of tension beginning to brew, cracking sharp like a whip on hide, igniting the air with both trepidation and scorn alike.
Although, in admittance, he expected as such, ought it been different, he would be questioning his sobriety.
In the center of it all, a man, wearied, marred with scars that each wove tales of their own, adjusted himself upon a stout and particularly flighty, dappled horse.

Attempting to assuage the mare's stress, Williams ran calloused fingers through the wispy strands of her mane, proceeding through the town, averting hostile gazes all the while. However tentative the town's folk might be, he knew his visitation was to their benefit. For he held information pertinent to the Marshal's efforts against the nefarious Roaming Water's gang and yet, Williams had to deliberate whether the Marshal would heed him regardless.
Would his ego's hunger crave the satiation to be a step ahead of the gang above all other's dissuade the natural aversion lawmen have to criminals like him?
We shall see, was the glaring answer to that internal inquiry.

Although despite being veiled beneath a stoic demeanor, there lay wrath so profound it enwrapped and haunted his waking thoughts, etching away at the center of his stability.
Thirst for retribution fueled his ideologies, his motives; Roaming Water, who he once pledged loyalty to, trod past an unspoken line, spilled blood, made things personal.
Now, she would reap the seeds of contempt she had sown.
Moreover, he would be a herald of ruination till her gang flickered out like dying flames.

Meanwhile, as Williams became spellbound by the intensity of his memories and aspirations, suddenly someone yanked away the reigns in his clutches, inciting the young mare beneath him to rear, bucking, so he almost came plunging towards the ground.
Scanning for his aggressor, Williams eyed a lanky man, greased hair cascading to his shoulders and a toothpick suspended from his lips.
Furthermore, he bore an expression of utter distaste, glowering and beaming with contempt.
Sneering, the fellow twisted the reigns around his wrist.

"Don't reckon you belong here, don't even rightly reckon you're wanted here."
With the jeer, the man hovered a hand over his holster. A glaring affront, indeed. While Williams anticipated hostility, he knew not that it would accumulate and seethe in the body of the man before him so much that he would dance with danger.
"You 'ought to take your leave, mister."

Keeping still, Williams combatted an inclination to wrap fingers around his pistol, to find comfort in the familiarity of its cold, ivory grip.
One must handle this with grace regardless of any potential peril, he reiterated to himself. Otherwise, he would lose both his quarry and chance alike.
If he were fortuitous, this conversation would not end with a spree of bullets, yet, with a granted entrance and guidance to the Marshal.
"Keep to your own business, partner, 'bout to change some tides when it comes to Roaming Water and her band o' bastards."
Taut in tone, Williams stroked his horse's neck, willing her to ease up, and swept his eyes across the full visage of the town.
"I suggest bringing me to your lawmen, you see, I've got debts to settle and not much time nor patience. It'll help ease that troubled mind 'o yours if I'm with your men o' law, I reckon. Then I can take care of mine, and you yours."

Stay on those toes of yours, Roaming Water. All your days, your hours, your very minutes are numbered; so long as I grace this Earth, I'll chase you to the ends of it.

Applying for Outlaw: Roaming Water's Gang

The only sound in the entire building was heavy breathing and the clicks from her pistols as she cocked them, her eyes landed on the men behind her and she jerked her head to the safe. They obeyed, cracking open the safe and taking as much as they could carry.

The rest of her posse followed, the loot weighing their pockets down as they grabbed at it like a horse would for fruit. When they could carry no more, they fled to their stallions and mares. Minerva was the last outlaw in the bank. Her eyes landed on a fat man that had tears rolling down his chubby cheeks, with his expensive looking clothes, she assumed him to be someone high up.

A sadistic grin appeared on her face as she aimed at him, her slim finger pulling the trigger for no reason at all except her own satisfaction. The bullet hit his stomach and he screamed in pain, crimson staining his white shirt. Before she could watch him bleed out, someone grabbed her shoulder.

"Minerva, come on! The lawmen are coming!"

She rolled her eyes, turning and exiting the building. Her eyes landed on the lawmen, they were too close for comfort. She exhaled, throwing herself onto her Arabian stallion. She dug her heels into his sides and with a whinny, he sped off.

The rest of her group followed as gunfire began. To her left a Mustang was shot, sending it's rider to the ground. She kicked her horse faster, cocking her pistols and turning to them. She opened fire and watched as her group did as well. Some she missed, but most bedded themselves in both horse and man.

The last lawman was shot by her and her group whooped in victory and glee, only one of Roaming Water's men was down. They sped off into the sunset, kicking up dust and sand behind them.

Applying for outlaw .

Kate held the reins As the mare galloped, she slid to the horses side, avoiding the spray of bullets that the laws sprayed her way. She knew she didn’t have long. They’d catch her soon as anything. The pass! In a flash she remembered the old Indian trail Bonnie had shown her, where they’d spent days building a hideout. “ Go girl!” She urged her mount, the golden mustang instantly knowing her desire. The trail was steep, and only wide enough for one rider, and if you fell, it was a long way down to the bottom of the ravine. She heard the laws behind her and took a leap of faith. They’d follow her horse, and she’d have time to loose them and get to the hideout. She grabbed the rocks as she fell, gasping in pain as she felt something sharp dig into her side. She had to do this. She had to get the cash to safety.

Outlaw
Swearing, Anne swung up on her horse and followed the gang. Her blue eyes flashed around as she took in the buildings flying by. Cursing again, she heard a bullet whiz by her ear. She spun around in her saddle and fired off from her twin pistols, hitting one of the lawmen in their chest. Watching them fall off, she spun around and charged the remaining lawmen. Leaning over in the saddle she snagged the reins of the riderless horse. The free running horse shied away from her and nearly pulled her off her current mount. With her heading in the opposite direction with a now stolen horse, the lawmen got scattered and several clashed into each other.

Leaping to the fresh horse, she whistled to her tiring horse to head back to the camp. This new dappled grey gave her little fight as they charged through town again. Now half of the lawmen were behind her, most likely thinking they could trap her. With a quick tug of the reins she sent the horse down a narrow alley way. Bursting into the open land beyond the town she gave the horse the bit and hung on low. While she did send off a shot or two, mostly she just ran finding it fun to leave behind confused lawmen instead of dead ones.

Spotting her fellow outlaws, she steered over to join them. "Lost your half?" She slowed the winded horse down to walk as they edged closer to camp. Her white mare came out of the pines to join the group as they relaxed and teased each other. Anne reached up and tugged her bun lose, happy to feel it flying free again. She peeled off from the group and made her way to her tent. She unsaddled the mare and did the same to the dappled though she tied him to a tree. Until he learned to come back to her, he wouldn't get to roam free like her other horses.

(Do I need to make one for every character?)
