The day that Ra mauled Bastet in cold blood was the day that Tauni decided to take her fate into her own paws. The vile king had ruled the pride for far too long, he was moody, irrational, and paranoid. His word was absolute and any attempts to reason with him were met with a swift paw to silence the agitator. Ra did what he wanted to, when he wanted to and the pride suffered for it. They had been used and abused for long enough and Tauni, like her fellow pride mates, had enough.

The Queen left her pride in the dead of night to travel to neighboring pride lands in search of a rogue lion. When she stumbled upon Chike, a long male who had lost his pride to famine a few years ago. The rouge needed little convincing to come back with Tauni and challenge Ra. The battle was swift, despite Ra’s claims of grandeur he didn’t put up much of a fight.

Tauni faced a surprising amount of backlash from the younger lion and lionesses in the pride whose interactions with Ra had been clouded by adoration for their father. They were angry with the Queen for betraying Ra and bringing in a stranger to rule the pride. It only got worse when Chike’s true colors were shown, unfortunately for the pride he was far worse than Ra. While Ra was mostly just unable to control his anger, Chike enjoyed being cruel. He was violent just for the fun of it, attacking lionesses without provocation and mauling cubs fathered by his predecessor. Now the pride is at a crossroads and in no better shape than they were before Ra’s defeat.
