My potato was running around stalking and impersonating hoomans because hoomans are interesting I guess, and yada-yada-yada ends up taking on the role of the real Andrea - who was an earl's son - when he gets killed so that the poor kid's family won't suffer.(also money and access to pretty pretty preciousss hoomans are pretty swell too)
Uuuuntil the earl finds out he's a goddamn Caster and goes full "GAWD HATEZ WITCHEZ EXTERMINAAAAATE" (he was kinda pissed, yeah...) and tries to make Andrea show his real form. Thing is potatoman never does that, and appears to everyone as conventionally pretty. So ol' daddy resorts to torture and basically gouges his eyes out.
Of course that hurts like crap and the unexperienced in healing Andrea tries to get his eyes back but only manages to create some monstrosities. Another Caster later tries to fix them, but only manages to fix them to look somewhat pretty.

Well, he was already a master healer when he lived in Alexandria, so when the library burned he went on the move, travelling and healing and occasionally meeting up with Ladon, but a few of the things that make him feel guilty are:

-He met and fell in love with who he thought was a human woman, but she turned out to be a witch if the evil variety, and she kept him under enchantments that confused his moral compass, which was visible in his wings turning black. He told her everything he knew about supernatural creatures, which was a lot, and even spent time inventing ways to hurt and contain them. She founded the Madrid supernatural slave market. During the early days he helped, and when everything was set up and running smoothly, she put him in a cage and removed the spells so he could get a good look at what he had created. That came the closest to breaking him out of everything in his life. A being named Aridion helped him come to terms with everything, and to this day Aridion is who they call when Avery gets to locked in his head.

-His telekinesis lashed out during a fight with humans in Sweden, killing a member of the monarchy accidentally, leading to a decades long 'kill on sight' order for any changeling in their borders.

- He saved the life of a Boto Cor-de rosa who grew up to head the most dangerous gang in South America. As thank you Avery can pass through their territory with impunity, but their gang is one of the cruelest.
