This is an official clan thread for the Service Dogs of Lioden Clan! Welcome to the clan! About UsService Dog Handlers of Lioden was created on January 4th, 2018! The goal of this clan is to act as an on-site support network for current and former handlers, to raise awareness and educate those curious about what service dogs do and how important they are to their handlers! But we don't just welcome service dogs - use a mini pony? Have an ESA? We welcome those too! Basically, we're people who have had our freedom returned to us by some really smart critters! FAQQ: How do I join? A: Just click the link provided at the top! You can also click HERE Q: I don't have a service dog and don't need one! Can I join? A: Yes! Everyone is welcome. As long as you remain respectful and abide by both our rules and the lioden ToS, you're more than welcome to hang out, join the discussion or lend a hand! Q: Is all you guys talk about your service dogs? A: Nope. As long as it abides by ToS/Forum rules, you can chat to your hearts content. Brag about your new stud :P. Q: Service dogs and ESAs are different, but you say you welcome their (ESAs) handlers here? A: Yep! As said before, everyone is welcome. If you recieve animal assistance of any kind, you're included under that umbrella, but understand - Service dogs and ESAs do not have the same public access levels as one another! NEWS1/5/2018- If you're interested in becoming an admin, please message me! No form is required but I'd appreciate a little information about yourself and your experience, because as an admin it will be your job to help moderate this thread and educate members about assistance animals! You are NOT required to own an assistance animal of any kind, however. As an admin, you should be capable of keeping a level head, unable to be drawn into arguments and basically someone people can trust to go to for advice :) 0 players like this post! Like? I was diagnosed with a form of Autism and now we have decided to get me a service dog because i connect better with animals than i do with people. However, we don’t have the money for a trained dog and my mom is allergic. This meant only two words: Poodle. Puppy. His name is Bentley, and he is four months old. The training is going well and we all love him. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Congrats! =D That's an adorable name too. My mom wants to get a Poodle or Labradoodle and have me train it as a therapy dog for her school since they have a lot of Autistic spectrum children who would benefit from it. The last time the school had one was just amazing for some of the kids, so I hope at some point I can have a hand at bringing that magic back! Best of luck with his training, if you need any training tips I'm sure people would be happy to help :D 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yeah puppies will do that :) It's a dominance thing too, so you just have to be gentle but firm with them. They grow out of it once they figure out the world and how it works. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I am a very high functioning autistic person.. :-) I also have POTS which basically means I have a autonomic system that doesn't work correctly. so I have a three year old Mini Aussie as my service dog (my family breeds them, as in we breed correctly and rightly...) so I've been training her and she helps me a lot!!! eventually once I go to college I'm hoping to get a dog from a society because I need a bigger dog for weight support... anyways hi everyone!!!! 0 players like this post! Thats awesome =D My goal is to train for a society one day, it's a lot of work self training but I have to say I've enjoyed every minute of it and would love to help other handlers one day. I've been training Bear for some mobility work and I have to say, on bad days the help is amazing. Anyways, hi back! Glad to have you here c: 0 players like this post! Like? |

I love that idea... I personally am looking into either being a vet and working with large livestock... If that did't work out I certainly would train dogs as they are my life! 0 players like this post! Like? |

He jumps up, growls, and bites. He actually went for my throat once. Sometimes on a leash he runs around me in circles so I have to spin or be tied up. It doesn’t help that I’m by no means fast or strong. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honestly, it very well could be real aggression but it could also just be he's only a puppy and is trying to play. We had to be very firm with Bear because as a Shepherd, they tend to be rather mouthy and he was getting too rough, and I dont want him to ever think it's acceptable to bite, even if he's playing. I'd definitely go to a professional trainer and talk to them about it, though. Aggressive service dogs are really not okay! But it could be that he's just playing, and they can see what it's like in-person and give you good advice for setting boundaries and the likes c: 0 players like this post! Like? |
