This is an official clan thread for the Service Dogs of Lioden Clan! Welcome to the clan! About UsService Dog Handlers of Lioden was created on January 4th, 2018! The goal of this clan is to act as an on-site support network for current and former handlers, to raise awareness and educate those curious about what service dogs do and how important they are to their handlers! But we don't just welcome service dogs - use a mini pony? Have an ESA? We welcome those too! Basically, we're people who have had our freedom returned to us by some really smart critters! FAQQ: How do I join? A: Just click the link provided at the top! You can also click HERE Q: I don't have a service dog and don't need one! Can I join? A: Yes! Everyone is welcome. As long as you remain respectful and abide by both our rules and the lioden ToS, you're more than welcome to hang out, join the discussion or lend a hand! Q: Is all you guys talk about your service dogs? A: Nope. As long as it abides by ToS/Forum rules, you can chat to your hearts content. Brag about your new stud :P. Q: Service dogs and ESAs are different, but you say you welcome their (ESAs) handlers here? A: Yep! As said before, everyone is welcome. If you recieve animal assistance of any kind, you're included under that umbrella, but understand - Service dogs and ESAs do not have the same public access levels as one another! NEWS1/5/2018- If you're interested in becoming an admin, please message me! No form is required but I'd appreciate a little information about yourself and your experience, because as an admin it will be your job to help moderate this thread and educate members about assistance animals! You are NOT required to own an assistance animal of any kind, however. As an admin, you should be capable of keeping a level head, unable to be drawn into arguments and basically someone people can trust to go to for advice :) 0 players like this post! Like? Oh that'll be a bit of a pain. I remember when Bear's started coming in I had to watch him like a hawk because he would chew anything he could find, although we invested in a few new nylabones and he realized he liked that better than the wooden rocking chair, lol! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Bentley tried to eat a random barcode with a rusty staple sticking out of it today... 0 players like this post! Like? |

But other then destroy my backpack she has never chewed anything to bits... This honestly amazed me as she's an aussie... Who usually aren't like that so I'm fortunate... 0 players like this post! There are toys made to be frozen and then chewed on for teething pups! This usually helps a ton! 0 players like this post! Like? |

We have been trying those frozen toys. Today that crazy dog picked up a cigarette butt. He spat it out but now his breath smells. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hey hey everyone, I'm new here! (the clan, not lioden) You can call me Elvira. I love animals and learning about how they can help people. I'm super interested in animal behavior and genetics. I do not have a service dog, nor a pet dog, but I love them very much. On another note, I really really like rats and I'm really interested in the idea of how they could potentially be service animals in place of dogs, particularly when dogs are too large or something like that. Love y'all! <3 0 players like this post! Like? |

Welcome! I’m Stinkytoes and I have a 5 month old Standard Poodle named Bentley who is training to be my Autism Service Dog. I may not say much when I talk to you but that is because I just can’t find the words. I never plan to be offensive. Again, WELCOME!!!!!!!! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hey there! Welcome =D That really is interesting, actually. I've always been interested in allowing more animals into the law, within reason and cleanliness. There are some animals that, while they don't have the same aptitude for reading humans like dogs do, would make excellent service animals for a variety of disabilities! 0 players like this post! Yeah I didn't know until pretty recently that only dogs (and the occasional pony) feel under the category of service animals protected by law. I figured different animals could offer many different services. The reason I think of rats in particular (besides that I just love them) is because they're a pretty good size and constitution for travel AND they're super smart and have a great sense of smell, which is useful for detecting low blood sugar and allergies (if I'm correct?). Sometime next year I'm going to be doing a research project on rats' intelligence which I'm super excited about! 0 players like this post! Like? |
