-LOCKED - MARCH EVENT | |
Posted on 2018-02-28 23:41:26
World Wildlife DayMarch 3rd is World Wildlife Day, and with that we want to honour what we may lose if we don’t fight for it as civilization, as a whole. Every day should be wildlife day.A total of 1 054 rhino were poached in 2016, compared to 1 175 in the same period for 2015, representing a decline of 10.3%. In 2016, 680 poachers and traffickers were arrested for rhino-related poaching offences nationally. This is a marked increase (over double) in arrests from 317 in 2015. There has been a minor decrease in the number of rhino poached nationally in 2017. A total of 1 028 rhino have been poached from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017 compared to 1 054 in the same period for 2016, representing a decrease of 26 animals. Source Of course there's good and bad statistic changes, but imagine how bad it would be without organizations who try to save those animals. Not only Rhinos, but Elephants, lions, leopards, all of them. Many poachers will hack brutally the entire face off of the rhino with axes while the animal is still alive to ensure that they get the entire horn as well as this "serum" as it is worth more. Thankfully, a new technology might allow to save rhinos in advance by 3D printing the horns from same materials, and injecting them onto the market, in hopes that it would cause the poaching to die down. There's been reports of inserting chips/probes with a toxic dye that renders the horns useless for poachers. Because of a suggestion, we've decided to include that encounter this year, no matter if it's a rare activity. Living our everyday lives might seem helpless in a big fight against such endless problem. It might not occur to us when we drink our morning coffee, drive to work or play a videogame, that we actually can do a little something, to help people who are professionally prepared to fight against mass animal massacres. We can give them a hand and share what we have with them, and help spreading the word around the world. Helping to save the lions, rhinos and elephants, and all other endangered animals is in our hands as well. Anti-Poaching EventWhat is great that the wandering poachers have randomized encounters AND some outcomes too, and this adds a lot of variety to your choices! But be careful! If your level is too low, you might not stand a chance against a large number of poachers! You will be ensnared instead of being able to fight. There's traps everywhere! Choices made when killing poachers or shooing them away is affecting your karma! Prevent Points are gained for public bar unlock, but you might notice you also gain "RB". These are Rhino Beetles, a special event currency! Keep onto them as you will unlock the shop! Be wary! If you guys don't manage to prevent poaching in time and unlock tier 3, there will be harsh consequences! Poachers aren't only lurking for lions in Lioden, they already did some evil. You might stumble upon the results of their doings in explore as well. It might be horribly sad but it's horribly true in real life as well. This is what real life is. It's just as upsetting. We want to raise awareness, and we want you to be prepared for sad times. CharityThis year we've decided to support a new charity a bit closer to our home, Tusk - LINK. This has been switched due to community feedback! At the end of March as usual we'll donate part of our March income and share the paypal screen. We still support IAPF very much, if you want to learn about them and their dangerous hands-on operations onsite, visit them at IAPF FB. We'd like to point out their new project, a female-only ranger unit called "Akashinga" - LINK - how awesome is that? I'll make sure to donate them personally as well! There will be 4 new encounters in explore! (Poisoned Elephant encounter and Rhino with a dyed horn encounter are created from suggestions! Related titles such as "Buzzkill" are also thanks to another suggestion!) Per user suggestion also, we have edited the all-year-round familiar poacher encounter to actually give you PP when you beat him up! Unique situation for March, of course! From March 1st until 31st, a unique Aging Injured Persian Fallow Deer decor will be available in Oasis. There will be also quite a few new decors to find in the Black Market. These should be available in wardrobe very soon after this news post so you can plan ahead :D Just give poor ol' Xylax an hour or two to add all the items! Good luck, and good night! MINIGAME For those unfamiliar with the game - the sidescrolling infinite platformer will speed up as you progress. You have to jump over obstacles and collect rhino beetles! Get used to the game pace before you decide to send your score! It's worth to practice first :D Event Information: Event starts on March 1st, 00:00 Lioden time and ends on March 31st at 11:59. All currency gained will be stored on your account and available again next year. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/03/18 @ 17:11:49 by Xylax (#4) |

Glad to hear you Mentioned Rhino rescue project's Horn dying technique. :) It's supposed to Render the Horn useless for Ornamental and Medicinal use - If anyone's interested and wants to learn more, here's a post on their website all about it. How it works - Rhino Rescue Project Looks to be a good event-while also very, very, very sad. But, thanks for all the hard work, guys. :) 0 players like this post! Like? So, I adore the Poacher Chase game, however when it builds up to speed I find it really hard to focus on the lion and the obstacles. I don't know if this is because I've had a long day and my eyes are tired, or because the colors kinda blend, or both, but yeah. 0 players like this post! Like? |
