Brood mothers are ABSOLUTELY necessary for cub survival! When I first started I lost so many cubs due to not having one. Always have a stay-behind mom to look after your cubs!

If a lion runs away, you have 7 REAL LIFE days to reclaim them, not roll-overs!

Remember to hunt as much as you can! The extra food can be sold at the crossroads, at the monkey buisness, greast sb earner ^.^

Don't constantly keep your lions at 100% in everything everyday. You will run out of food INSANELY fast.

You can do PVP battles, and there is an option to attack other players for territory. You can do this once per day. The lion you're attacking can be 2 levels below you. When attacking, make sure the lion has lower stats than you (at least 100 gives a good chance at winning). When you win you will gain one territory space, so you will have more space for lionesses! You can only do this until you have 40 slots. This is great because buying slots gets expensive real fast!

You should not look for a heir quickly!
You will not need one for a while.

Don't focus on new markings or bases for profit. The markets for those are highly volatile and you will lose money. Focus instead on hunting your lionesses for for food to sell and gathering event items, like the others have stated.

Actually, I will disagree about broodmothers being /necessary/. If you take care of your lions daily - feeding and playing with them - they will be just fine, and it means you can use that lioness for hunting. I rarely ever use broodmothers and my cubs all survive just fine. HOWEVER. If you are one to only take care of your lions every few days, definitely go the broodmother route, better safe than sorry and whatnot. And once you have more lionesses than available hunting spots, go ahead and make one of the extras a broodmother. But cubs can and will survive just fine without, so long as you take care of them. c:

As for Advice From Msasi: don't worry about buying male slots too much. Buy one so you can keep an adult male as an heir and patrol him, but other than that you can generally save your money for other things. Once you have some money saved up, go ahead and buy a second one for just in case or for funsies. Adult males currently can't do much, so there isn't much point to having a bunch of male slots for males you aren't patrolling, especially when you're just starting out and can better use the money (and food required to feed them) for other things.

Also, don't expand your pride too fast. So many new players get in trouble because they quickly get more lions than they can handle, so they start feeding their lions only when the lions are about to run away. This can be a mistake because if something unexpected happens - say you log in, but then have a power outage or computer issue before you can feed/play with your lions - they then run away then next time you roll over and you have to scramble to get the money to reclaim them before they are gone for good and it ends up costing you way more than it would have just to keep them all fed and played to start with. Keep your pride small to start, make sure you feed them regularly (by keeping a smaller pride and hunting regularly, you will have WAY more food than you need, so you can keep your lions fed AND still have plenty to sell for profit) and expand only when you feel you can handle it with your activity level. As a former mod, this is by far the biggest issue I saw new players having. c:

AMPs (adult mutation present) do NOT show up at birth by default... you have to check your cubbies at the scrounge stone. But don't check all of your cubs since it's expensive, or the ones you're keeping for certain, only the ones you're on the fence about keeping.

Also, save at least 20 energy per hour to save for fighting for territory. You'll need it to expand your pride fast, and if you keep spending it all on exploring you'll run into space issues later!

Finally, every day make sure you play the goalie game and Serengeti Shuffle. The goalie will give you 2-4 stats and the shuffle game will give you a chance at getting a Black Stallion if you are between 3500-4400 points (I believe that is the correct range) and those are worth a bit of gb so it will help you to get started!

Broodmothers are needed if you don't want to look after your cubs, if you have money then the feed all play all makes broodmothers obsolete.

Hunt ever 30 minutes to get extra food.

Do not keep your lions at 100% hunger, they can go to 0% before they leave, I feed mine at 60% with a single large food item, like warthogs that your king can get in explore.

Small food items can be used to increase stats, but it is a low chance.

Do not get 10 lionesses just because you can have them, grow your pride slowly until you are ready for more.

You can pvp someone every 2 hours and select territory to expand your lands to a max of 40, then you have to buy the land at 2 gb per. If the king you are fighting has weaker stats than you then you have a higher chance of winning.

Always make sure you nest your lionesses at 1 day or they will loose their litter, you can do it as 2 or 3 days left, but they NEED a nest to give birth.

Being new, don't use the trading center until you are sure of the market, offering low valued items for higher valued ones will make people abuse/go off at you.

Your lionesses can still hunt whilst pregnant, but can't if nested, but if they aren't nested by their last day, lioden will message you and let you know, they won't give birth.

Your king won't need to be replaced until it reaches 16 lioden years, 12 actual days a year, so you have time to find a new king, do not get an heir right away as it will grow old before you can use him and you won't get him to be king as long.

Play the lioden trivia game every day, you get 3 questions, and the hard setting will give you 20 sb each correct answer, google the answers if you need them, there is also a master forum post for them, I just don't have it off hand.

Remember to always set your lions to hunters or you won't be able to use them, in the hunting grounds you can click set all or on their individual pages you can set them as hunters.

When your lion levels up his energy with reset to 100%. To maximize what you can get done with him always use all his energy up before you level up. I missed doing this a few times when I was new because I was excited to level him up and not paying attention.

If you get a generic Newly Claimed Lioness and don't want her, remember to chase/kill/reserve her before the next rollover. This ensures an unwanted NCL doesn't take up territory space that could be better used for a lion you really want.

Focus on your impression level, once you level up a few times you will be able to claim better lionesses in explore. Claiming lionesses is an easy way to boost your impression. The claiming system also becomes more useful once you reach dreamboat level with your rolled king. You have a chance of finding lionesses that show up in your den with Cotton Root Bark. Because these lioness have a increased chance of giving birth to mutated cubs, they are highly sought after by players.

If you want to retire your rolled king free, log in every day. With every day you rollover you are one day closer to him reaching 15 years. The cooldown for retiring your rolled king free is based on his age rather than real-life days.
