I'm not really comfortable with how the current Heritage works.
But I only have this one idea and I don't know if that would make it any better.
In my mind it would, but maybe you guys can help make sure it doesn't have any flaws or if it does, point them out and help me make it better?

I don't know if this will be a burden on the coding side of things with the site but my idea is:
Take the current Heritage layout and make it vertical.

The more recent lion(s) will be at the top while the older lions will be at the bottom.

This way when you're investigating a certain heritage you can not only see the immediate parents of the lion in question, you can also scroll down to the rest of the lineage instead of clicking great grandparents and clicking more great grandparents to check for things such as inbreeding or other stuff.

(Also if a lion no longer exists I think their name should be grayed out and perhaps not clickable?)

I imagine certain pages would get really long or wide at the bottom, but idk if that would be a huge problem?
Maybe it can still stop at a certain point but have a button to go to another page to continue the heritage lines and repeat until you hit the first gen lions.

Please let me know all your thoughts on this, I hope we can collaborate and make the Heritage system somehow better.

Can I ask for those who don't support to please explain why?
I would really like to see all the viewpoints on this topic, maybe there is a problem that I missed, after all.

Suggestion Updates
Blackheart (#133348) Suggests
If the feature was implimented like this, then by clicking on the names you could go and see the lion instead!

Herdy2 (#14496) Makes a good point
Used to looking at dog/horse pedigrees that the current system looks normal.

Ladwick ² (#12149) Suggests
Well, how about we have the heritage be able to scroll to the side then. I just feel like clicking grandparent after grandparent is pretty excessive, so many tabs.

The Coon 💢 (#23489) Good point
My concern is how this would work for mobile users? I already am unable to use many of the currently scrolling boxes correctly from my phone and I worry this might make things tougher with checking heritages.

Perhaps this idea could be made more phone user friendly somehow? Or maybe an opt in/out of the scrolling version of the heritages could also work,

This suggestion has 60 supports and 5 NO supports.

I'm not sure if one phone fix would help all phones but maybe a toggle button could work until a better fix comes into play. How would we make it more phone friendly though if we could?

Having a toggle for it on the page where you can opt out of things like caves would be really helpful for mobile users, I believe. At least until an actual mobile friendly version of the site is created

I totally support revamping the whole heritage system. But I'd also like to point out that when I retired my first king a day ago, and appointed a new male lion as king, the system kinda messed up the lions that my previous king sired, saying that the new king is their father.
Thankfully, I record the heritages of my lions that I fancy into the Journal which incredibly helpful.

And before I retired my previous king, the lioness I bred him to, had some cubs, but they also say they were sired by the new king. The only thing that gave me relief is that the genetics of the previous king were passed down to the cubs' and not the genetics of the new king's.

I'm not sure if fellow players have noticed this and ignored this little concern of mine or actually voiced it out on the forums, but uh here I am with this problem. I hope Lioden fixes this.

Edit: A little newbie question... if I made my king a Grandpaw, would sending him to the Dynasty change or fix this ~concern~ of mine?

:O I have't run into that problem but my main turned 14 not too long ago, it still might be some time before I can king again though. I'm not sure how to fix it. D:
I think you can make a bug thread or maybe modbox about it though?
