So, currently the impression levels go like this: Barely Noticeable Not Very Impressive Not Impressive Average Slightly Impressive Somewhat Impressive Impressive Very Impressive Extremely Impressive Dreamboat I think that the two bold ones should switch places because, to me, it seems like a bit of a downgrade to go from being a tiny bit impressive to being not at all impressive. pls Suggestion of possible name changes for the whole list by #106865: Unknown (New) Barely noticeable Kinda noticeable (New) Recognizable/Noticeable (New) Slightly Impressive Moderately Impressive (New) Impressive Very Impressive Well-Known (New) Dreamboat ---------------- My other suggestions: Masterpost here |

Or just remove one? Sometimes I think the Impression levels don't make sense... ![]() |

'not very' is a smaller concept the 'not' so 'Not Very Impressive' means 'Not Impressive' is more impressive then 'not very' ![]() |

I never liked those two either. I feel much less impressive with "Not impressive" then "Not very impressive." Support! ![]() |

'very' is as an intensifier. An intensifier is a word that makes another word stronger or adds emphasis. so if something is not very impressive then it WORSE then not impressive. ![]() |

You're right, but that logic only works if it said "very not impressive". The intensifier in this case is working on the word "impressive", not the word "not", so if you say "not very impressive" the implication is that you can still be a bit impressive, just not VERY impressive. "Not impressive" implies no amount of impressiveness imo. Support! ![]() Edited on 02/07/18 @ 16:41:05 by ursiday (#66929) |

That's a decent idea as well! There are a lot of titled with "Impressive" in it, and only one with "Noticeable" in it. I'll edit it in! ![]() Edited on 02/07/18 @ 16:51:57 by Terrinthia (#97101) |

Not Very Impressive is actually correct here. It is worse than Not Impressive. "Not very" means far from being, saying that something is not at all true. Being Very Not Impressive means you aren't even close to being Impressive. While "not" kinda means the opposite, the negative. Saying that someone "is not impressive" means he's just ordinary. So no support for them switching. Maybe support for a name change seeing that it has confused people. ![]() |

How about "Not Impressive," and then, "Barely Impressive"? I guess another thing I don't understand is why the Impressives are separated by Average. Then again, maybe we're just being picky about something really small. Excuse me while I go level up my King... ![]() |
