By the time Bruxi and Nirvana made it to Nakir’s dwelling, the sun set and the night took over. It was hard to make out the black stag against the darkness, but Nirvana spotted him sitting just in front of his garden, back straight, legs crossed, and eyed closed. Neither of them knew if they should approach, or simply let Nakir be.

“It’s a good night for a Fawn,” Nakir mumbled, peeking open one of his eyes to look at his guests. “The moon is bright, the night is warm, and the stars are out. Listen, hear the season. Follow nature’s music to your dancer.”

Before Nirvana could think on the stag’s words for long, Bruxi was turning on his heels and walking away. That left Nirvana to wave a small goodbye before walking after him, catching up quickly but preferring to stay behind him. He walked into the forest and explored the area plenty of times before, looking for Fawns before. Nothing wrong with letting someone else take the lead.

The further they got from the village, the quieter the night became. There no was no bustle from Fauns finishing up their days, checking on their animals, or whatever else they did when the sun went down. The pair stopped in a small clearing, unsure of where to go next.

From the trees, fireflies lazily flew out into view, shining their lights for a moment before going out, and then turning on again. Crickets found their stages and began to chirp, mice busied themselves with finding food, and bats squeaked as they took to the skies.

Quiet was soon replaced with song, each creature too busy with their rhythm to notice Nirvana and Bruxi. It was just as Nakir had said; nature’s song. They turned to each other as soon as it clicked. Did that mean their Fawn was close by?

When they looked back at the clearing, a small figure made their way into view. Their movements weren’t refined like the dancers they knew, but they danced to the beat around them. Dark blues, light purples, and a lovely bluish white caught the moon’s light as they moved, highlighting their small form.

Bruxi approached first, doing his best not to disturb the Fawn. Nirvana followed, and they waited a couple of feet away from them, enjoying the show. Eyes closed the entire time, they stopped in front of the pair and bowed. When they looked up, they opened their pale eyes and smiled.
