i'm in my first year on lioden, and every month i'm amazed by the events.. the writing, the characters, the gameplay differences, the items, the HYPE each event generates.. this game is seriously unparalleled. i love this event so far. it has a dramatic, intense feeling to it, i think due in part to the increased difficulty and in part to the writing and art for the explore encounters. but there are a few adjustments i'd like to see made to the text. i've run into encounters where some of the wordings are a bit off, and i think it would help with immersion if they read more smoothly. i'm drawing these quotes from the wiki so forgive me if some of them have been updated in-game: A patrolling human party is scouting for water sources. Do they want to steal the water or help securing it? >Follow You follow the humans silently, and they lead you to a source of water. Being the king of beasts as you are, you decide to drink right away, don’t minding the humans taking pictures of you. Suggested tweak: either "drink right away, not minding the humans taking pictures of you" or "drink right away. You don't mind the humans taking pictures of you." -i also think "Do they want to steal the water or help secure it?" might sound better in the prompt, but maybe that's just a nitpicky personal preference. == You approach it kindly, showing path to the nearest waterhole. Humans are trying to block path of the fires! Suggested tweak: i think "a path" or "the path" would be better than just "path" here. (english loves articles, man, idk.) == Separated from the herd in this heat, this wildebeest is doomed. Or is it? >No Of course not. You need the herds to breed to ensure survival of your cubs! You roar at the antelope, leading it for some time into direction you saw the herd last. Suggested tweak: It's a wildebeest, not an antelope, right? (admittedly i'm not a mammal expert, so maybe wildebeests are technically a kind of antelope? i have no idea.) == It's fresh enough to try and eat, something must have scared away the killer. Suggested tweak: "It's fresh enough to try and eat; something must have scared away the killer." or "It's fresh enough to try and eat. Something must have scared away the killer." or "It's fresh enough to try and eat... something must have scared away the killer." (i'm not a HUGE comma usage stickler but this one jumps out at me in particular.) == A lonely African Wild Ass Foal is having a hard time leaving its mom’s body. >Scavenge You ignore the foal and massacre its mom’s body for the stuff you need. >Growl You kill the donkey first, and then gather all that’s left from the bigger carcass. >Roar You scare the foal away, and try to salvage what you can from the carcass. Suggested tweak: could we change "Growl" to something like "Pounce," "Lunge," "Ambush," or "Attack?" this seems like the lioden equivalent of "Glass him" from TWAU, where the player might choose a harmless-sounding option only to have the character act out violently. "Growl" sounds about as evil as "Roar," yet it makes the lion kill the donkey and gives the same amount of evil points as "Scavenge" while "Roar" helps the donkey and grants good points. yes, players would learn what the option does after reading the wiki or making the wrong choice once, but i'd like it to be more clear in the first place. that's about all i've noticed. thoughts? |

"wangle" is a different word meaning "manipulate." i had to google it but it's true-- and who says lioden isn't educational? 0 players like this post! Like? |

I support grammar fixes as well as the whole "Hire a Writer" suggestion, which sorta relates to this 0 players like this post! Like? |

i dunno if a writer needs to be hired, but i’ve played online games where an admin runs a forum thread where typos and grammar blips can be reported. maybe we could use a thread like that 0 players like this post! Like? |
