-*-"Official" Thread-*-*--* Development thread *-*-F.A.Q-*-Quick links-*-Adoptables/Contests-*-Breeding-*- Discord-*- Exploring -*- Hello! My name is Icey and I've been planning something big. A roleplay world unlike any other I've encountered in my years of Rp. A living world that acts back with the characters. A world that lets you play as both character and creator, a world that upates as you travel and search. An RPG game with emphasis an the roleplay! This is Roch. At least, what we know of it. It's inhabited by a species of centaurs that can come in all shapes and sizes. They can live in tiny, naturalist, bands like horses, or in huge cities where they fill the rolls of ancient humans. Some live in humble villages an look for the balance in life. Some run around naked, and some wear fancy dresses. There's a lot of options in Roch. Through my years of trying numerous roleplay groups across Deviantart and other websites I've picked up a couple of things I think could really improve the game. I thought I'd pilot it here, on Lioden, to gain interest, get help organizing, and maybe even decide features that will be in the game! I also thought I could help define the world through the use of FAQ's! Currently planned features *completed* The world of Roch is broken into five seasons that take place in five week intervals. For each real world year, the centaurs experience two years of time. *completedAn explorable world with day time costs. allowing centaurs only to explore what they'd actually have time to explore. Hidden loot, ruins, character races, plot lines, ect. ect all exist! A character will use their skills and luck, risking life and limb to make their name go down in history. Rank based skill system where training pays off. Ranks open up new character slots, stats, abilities, with a vast job skill tree in the works! Create Golemns, and dragons made of candle wicks! Pets! Speaking of dragons! There's SO many pets you can endeavor to get. From tiny gryphons and dragons to a home brewed legendary companion called a Lherr! Lots of Lore! Become part of a breathing world and leave your mark on history. Find new playable races, new weapons, and even magic in the wilderness! Find Missing Princesses, stolen ceremonial garbs, or make your own plot! New group plots are introduced seasonally! Did I say battle? Why yes I did! Live combat using a third party moderator (serving as a DM/GM) that inflicts wounds upon hits. Allowing for fair and flexible combat, even to the death, without ever feeling that one party or the other was jipped out! Powerplaying becomes a thing of the past! I'm going to be attempting to endorse a player economy by encouraging trading and crafting. (Still a big WIP) Speaking of player driven development, characters can form their own tribes, bands, and societies by accumulating at least five other characters! Either live Roleplayed by the players or conceptually submitted as an encounter on the map! You can accumulate extra characters and submit them to 'NPC' status in a location on the map. While you cannot live play them anymore, players can encounter them while exploring. Make your own mark on the CORE map and culture! Characters can take up jobs and have rolls within their village. Characters who do their jobs well can find themselves in positions to be honored! Make a profit! All things in the CORE world can be bought or sold OOC for most types of currency. Get a super nice dragon and need some USD? Sure! Did you mare have a particularly gorgeous foal? Go ahead and auction off the character. Artists, sell your skills and help others rank up their centaurs. That goes for you too, writers! Update: Characters now up for adoption! Check out our Adoptions and sales! Character adoption culture and sharable NPCS. I'd like for characters to be able to adopt characters with other roleplay characters as parents. Sometimes they will be foals players chose to abandon, sometimes they will be village raised foals for adoption. I feel like having some sort of adoptable family system will encourage players to interact. Things that might happen Super Magic Silly Swords, or SMSSs. Slang for a group of magical items that can be found strewn about the world. Using some form of mysterious magic SMSS's come in a wide range of forms. From swords that summon gusts of wind or bursts of plant life to cloaks that somehow make you smarter! Some weapons will have unknown 'siblings' in the world, having unknown effects and personalities when they meet! The highclass version of a SMSS would have it's own ranks to build onto your ranks. But should you missuse your enchanted device it could break, leave, or even try to kill you! Rank altering birth stats. Awarded semi-randomly, or sometimes adopted with a character, birth starts will alter the maximum number of ranks one can achieve in a skill. Can be positives and negatives, effects can be positive or negative. For how to join, current open ranks, and a list of characters check Here! in our 'Official' thread 1 player likes this post! Like? POLLS Please take a moment to fill out some questions, please! All the information I get will be used to better the group! To encourage players to be active and engage with the questions, giving the pro's and con's of your choices will net you a surprise! Not to be on the nose, but if you had to pick a horse color, what would it be? No Brindles/chimeras/genetic mutations, please! :) On playable races; How do, the question, part A. a) Set out a broad species cap for creation, first come first fill rules, and allow the population to spread naturally. Backstories for races are kept hidden until explored and discovered. (Example; starting population can have 25 zebras per 100 characters taken. To get a zebra character, you'd have to adopt the foal or offspring of a zebra) Cons: If special characters go inactive and don't contribute to the population it could crash. Some races can't breed on the mainland. b) Put the species in a shop for purchase with a 'meta' currency. Active players can then purchase them with the currency they earn. (Example: Your first character, Gary, has been working on completing quests. He earns his own XP that goes into leveling him up but you, as the player, also get 5 COR credits for being active. When you save up COR credits, you purchase a zebra character from our shop for 20 COR credits and submit them as usual. Gary's life is unaffected by COR credits. ) Pro's: Adds incentive for players to be active. Can make more common races cheaper to keep the population ratios in check/can run out of stock. c) Start all players off with a starting pool of metacurrency. Allow them to spend the credits to alter their character and add race to the cost. Players could also spend the metacurrency on other aspects of the character. (Example: When creating a character, you can select from a list of traits, attributes, and abilities that have preset costs. All players start with a pool of 20 COR credits. The base character requires five credits. The Zebra race adds + 2 to cost. Player chooses to spend +2 points for race, +2 points for a bonus skill and +1 for a stat bonus to strength. Character costs 10 Credits to create and the player is left with 10 credits. They may make two more basic characters, or one more zebra. Alternatively, you could create four basic centaurs.) d) Write your own suggestion! I'm hoping to create a natural balance between the species of the world and don't want most characters to be zebras or non-centaur races as canonically centaurs are the dominant species. Keeping this in mind, let me know what you think! 2) Playable races: Player knowledge and species information releasing a) Explore based system. Players don't know anything about hidden races until they stumble upon the village. {Example: Gary goes exploring and uncovers a black tile. It turns out to be the start of zebra territory. Until then, players can't really create them, except for special circumstances. Keeps the mystery super high, but may appear more boring to the outside. ) b) OOC knowledge is released immediately, all races, while some are hidden in the explore system, have basic information laid out even if they aren't available. Make some races release immediately (closest to centaurs), and have some only creatable after exploring the location. (Example: Gary can be made as a Zebra, horse, or donkey centaur from group start. But in order to create a Naga, someone has to find their homeland! However, will know about the existence of nagas and their basic culture, even if nobody in Gary's world has any idea. ) c) There are no other races! All species start as centaurs, but are changed through potions! Centaurs live in different places and have difference cultures, but they are all centaurs until they take this potion. Potions can be found and hidden around the world. (Example: Gary stumbled into some odd loot. He drinks a potion and feels very, very, ill. He falls asleep and wakes up to find himself in the body of a great snake beast! Oh no! Alternatively, Gary went to some seedy witch on the outskirts of town and bought the snake tonic because he thinks snakes are cool.) d) Write your own! 3) Magic; how much is too much? a) I want a world FILLED with magic! Unicorns, winged creatures, magical abilities, potions, all that stuff! As magic as you want to make it, I'll love it! b) Maybe make it rare. I like mostly realistic stories, not huge sections of magic based plotholes. c) No magic/Magic as technology only. If you can make it sound real, it can pass. But real magic shouldn't exist in this world. 3a) ESSAY: What kind of magic would you like to see, exactly? Tell me about what kind of magic you'd like to see. How would you like it to be managed and what do you think some of the drawbacks should be? Tell me your worries/excitement about magic and what it could mean for your character! 0 players like this post! Like? |

A. b) Put the species in a shop for purchase with a 'meta' currency. Active players can then purchase them with the currency they earn. Gary's life is unaffected by COR credits. ) Pro's: Adds incentive for players to be active. Can make more common races cheaper to keep the population ratios in check/can run out of stock. I do think that in order for a new species to be playable it needs to be discovered by the player. So for example Gary would gain exp and the player would get COR, but Gary would need to discover the new species before the player can buy another character. This would assure that all players start out as centaurs and can choose what to do from there, maintaining the amount of centaurs. B. b) OOC knowledge is released immediately, all races, while some are hidden in the explore system, have basic information laid out even if they aren't available. Make some races release immediately (closest to centaurs), and have some only creatable after exploring the location. (Example: Gary can be made as a Zebra, horse, or donkey centaur from group start. But in order to create a Naga, someone has to find their homeland! However, will know about the existence of nagas and their basic culture, even if nobody in Gary's world has any idea. ) As I mentioned above, I think that even for the more common variants, the character will need to discover them before being able to play a character from the species. I do like the idea to release most of the information though. I think it will peak people's interest and they will stick around. C. Magic. I think there should be magic in Roch with the exception of giving players magical abilities. Potions and magical creatures should definitely be included though. I am between A and B for this one. Magic should not be the focus of the world, however, in the cities and while questing it should play a larger part. Edit: As for the horse color, I would say a silver dapple pinto ^.^ 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 06/09/18 @ 18:48:07 by Aael (#30597) |

Thank you! There is currently a development server on Discord, and soonish there will be an RP server as well! I'm working on ranks right now, and once ranks and place descriptions are done we can start running! So far I'm unsure quite how to tackle the RP server. The base idea is breaking each part into it's own sub section, but giving people a place to post their 1x1's to will also become important. 0 players like this post! Like? |

If you have trouble putting the server together, I am also of your aid. I make servers a lot, and I find it quite fun. I mostly help with layout though since it is, indeed, your idea and yours alone. 0 players like this post! Like? |
