Rabies & Nightmares

The month of horrible nightmares has arrived once again. October is scary not only due to the terrors in the night, but the most terrifying disease is spreading through Lioden's lands - Rabies! The rabid animals are noticeable enough - just kill them all to reduce infectivity. Be careful, though! You may get infected, too! Make sure you also beware of exploring at night... the dead do not rest.

Rabies: Rabid animals can be found in Explore during any time of day in all zones! Whether you win or lose, aside from earning Blood Beetles from winning battles, every battle you partake in against rabid animals can give you RABIES! It's a small chance, but it's there, so be careful! If you contract rabies, your lion will look like this: There are pros and cons to rabies. Your energy will not raise above 80%, you cannot eat, and you may infect other players by PVP! You may also notice, however, that the rabies-induced rage gives you more strength in battles against NPCs! In order to cure your rabies, you must buy a Devil's Claw in the Blood Beetle Shack. It costs 2 Blood Beetles, and has 4 uses. The more rabid animals you kill, the more points you will add to the unlockable bars! There are 4 tiers, with the last tier unlocking a creepy crafting altar! Note: Last year's items are returning - expect new ones as well! 2018: * If Rabies is active, your lion might start hallucinating and seeing some weird hybrid creatures, even during the daytime! This year, we've introduced a Griffin and a Werewolf! The Griffin will count as either a Bird or Lion for snake quests, and the Werewolf counts as a Canid and Primate. * Rabid Hunting Dogs, Rabid Painted Dogs, and Rabid Red Foxes have had their battle vulnerabilities adjusted - their skin will now rip when you choose the "Claw" action. * You can now dismiss the Rabies notification that appears when your king is rabid. This can be done for 24 hours at a time, or for the entire month of October if you wish. This only happens on the device you dismiss the notification on, rather than on your account; if you dismiss the notification on your phone, it will still appear on your computer (or other device), and vice versa. This gives you the opportunity to customise your notices based on your device.

Halloween: At night, halloween-themed creatures appear! 2018: * We might add a small fun Trick-or-Treat feature later in the month! * We remember last year's poll winner - there will be a few witch-inspired decors added in! * Blood Beetle Shack: There are tons of new decors that will be unveiled in the Item Catalogue as the tiers open. Remember, we no longer have 5 GB decors. * The Halloween Bundles will contain new bundle-specific decors, as well as some Manticore decors! * A new encounter with a mysterious cave has a small chance of giving you a random cryptid decor! * Two new zombie encounters have been added for you to battle with at night - Zombie Cheetah and Zombie Poacher! New Blood Beetle Shack applicators this year are: - Demonic base applicator - Demonic markings applicator Remember, you guys have a 4th tier - an area where you craft Shards of Evil into mane applicators. We're thinking about what fun thing to add to the 4th tier still, so stay tuned and hoard your Shards of Evil! Story: Heaven vs Hell Lore! This year isn't as giant as July's branching storyline with choices, and it does not have the ending yet (we're planning to expand on that in future), however you can side with Good or Evil guys. Or go neutral. This year, we hope you will enjoy being introduced to the whole Heaven vs Hell clash, doing daily quests and picking sides (don't worry, this year's choice won't affect you next year!). You will meet a Manticore. He will tell you that there's a battle between Heaven and Hell and let you meet either side. Now, be aware, that your choice will be permanent to a degree - you won't be able to switch sides between Angels and Demons, but you will be able to postpone the decision and hang out with the Manticore, or even come back to him if you're done with either side! Heaven and Hell's story will also expand on October 10th as they need to observe you first before they can trust you further and... they might upgrade your powers if you show your dedication! :O Oooo? Summary: * You will meet a neutral Manticore that will let you pick a side, or not pick a side with preference to do neutral quests until you change your mind. You can also choose to never pick a side at all. * When you choose to side with Heaven or Hell, you will lose access to the Manticore and its shop, unless you buy yourself a way back. * When you choose a side, you will not be accepted in the opposing faction at any time of this year even if you go back to Manticore. * When you side with Angels, you will only battle Demons in explore, and vice versa. That of course does not affect usual explore encounters, including the Halloween ones. * You will gather new currency and reputation for the two factions as you fight their enemies and finish daily quests. * They reward you with Reputation which will make you be able to progress on October 10th as well as unlock FREE REWARDS in the faction's shop! Example - energy, titles, currency (I saw Monkey Teeth in there!) * Each faction uses opposing faction's trinkets as currency. Demons want Nepheline Feathers and Angels want Demonic Scales. * Manticore has no care for the incoming Apocalypse and prefers Blood Beetles in his shop. * Manticore has unique decors in the shop but also Bloodbourne Mane App, older decors and rare non-event items. * Heaven/Hell have unique decors in the shops as well as special effect items and energy boosts. Angelic and Demonic Mane Bases are in each shop respectively. * Heaven will sell angelic decors / items. Hell will sell demonic decors / items. * Your karma will have a very minor effect when meeting the entities, and as an evil lion you still can join Heaven (although Angels won't be too nice to you). If you do that, remember that the daily quests will require you to gain karma (thankfully you can swap that quest :D). And vice versa, of course. * Daily Quests will be randomised and rewards as equal as possible no matter which faction you choose (remember that you do have upgrade perks after 10th). * You will have an option to swap a quest if you are not pleased with the given one. The system will pick a different quest from the pool. * On October 10th, if your reputation with your chosen faction is great enough, the Novel will continue and grant you a special power usable in Explore that reaps special rewards! Things will get hardcore. * If your reputation is not great enough, the Novel will just inform you that you need to prove yourself via daily quests, and the story will not trigger further. Use our Wiki with more official info! :D (still being updated as we launch though!) 2018 Updates: * 5 new encounters for each faction to battle with and gain special currency! * New decors in all three faction shops! * Cost of Oblivion (coming back to Nirah) is lowered by half. * If your reputation with Heaven or Hell reaches various thresholds, you will encounter more Demons or Angels in explore, respectively. * The daily quest for Heaven and Hell which requires you to give away 5 Nepheline Feathers or 5 Demonic scales has now been changed. All you need to do is collect 10 of the required currency and then complete the quest - you no longer need to surrender your currency for this quest. * Edit post-news: Nirah's quest needed to be adjusted back to giving up the currency (gathered earlier or swapped in shop) in order to work, since you can't collect special currency when neutral.

Event starts on October 1st 00:00 and ends on October 31st, 11:59 pm. All unused currency is stored on your account and will be accessible next year, just like every event!
