-LOCKED - Code of Conduct Update | |
Posted on 2019-01-07 07:04:19
We are notifying you all of an update to our Code of Conduct. Due to GDPR regulations and the need to protect our members, we cannot allow any outside script that detects and stores user activity and private user data. We cannot guarantee that the sites which harvest this data are using it appropriately and therefore we cannot in good conscience allow them to be used on Lioden. This includes, but is not limited to: - User tracking scripts - Hit counters We have removed any instance of the offending script that we can find, and for those that we have not removed we will give a one week grace period for members to remove them manually. After this time, we will be imposing strict repurcussions for any member who still has any script similar to this on their forum topics, member page, or elsewhere. The reason for this Code addition is that we cannot guarantee how user data is used on the other end of this service. In many cases these services harvest IP addresses, your browser, the time you spend on a page, how many times you visit a page. In some cases they place a cookie on your computer. All of this is without first notifying you, or allowing you to opt out. The services we've checked either don't have a privacy policy at all, or they don't have a GDPR compliant policy. This is a potential breach of privacy that users cannot opt out of, and that we cannot control, therefore we cannot allow it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Alright. Understandable, Well that sucks, would Lioden be able to implement a tracker of its own for forums? Its nice sometimes to see if users are interested in the post at all lol. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Okay so im still really confused, so we can't have ANYTHING that tracks where people are from or anything right? This has nothing to do with like chromes autosaving passwords and stuff? Admin Response: Correct on both counts. Browser autofill data is absolutely unrelated. :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

Awesome! I'll remove mine as soon as I'm on my laptop (assuming it hasn't already been removed) since I can't see my clan bios until I'm on a desktop view. Thanks for the heads up and looking out for us! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you guys! It honestly kind of freaks me out when I see trackers on people's pages that show where people are all over the world who visit said pages. Now I don't have to worry about those kinds of things 0 players like this post! Like? |

Really glad to see this. Hit counters/locaters collect way too much data. Based on all the comments in the thread, it sounds like a more in-depth post with photo examples of what is and is not permissable might be helpful. 0 players like this post! Like? |
