This is an official clan thread for the Spoonies of Lioden Clan! 🥄Hello and welcome to Spoonies of Lioden!🥄 This group was created in support of those who suffer from chronic pain, chronic illnesses, and any other condition that may cause one to be considered a spoonie. You don't have to be a spoonie to join, though! You can simply be in support of those who face these trials in life. Why are people with chronic illnesses called spoonies? An article on Wikipedia has the best description on this, and goes as follows... "The term spoonie and the phrase "running low on spoons" were coined by Christine Miserandino in 2003 in her essay "The Spoon Theory". The essay describes a conversation between Miserandino and a friend. The discussion was initiated by a question from the friend in which she asked about what having lupus feels like. The essay then describes the actions of Miserandino, who took spoons from nearby tables to use as a visual aid. She handed her friend twelve spoons and asked her to describe the events of a typical day, taking a spoon away for each activity. In this way, she demonstrated that her spoons, or units of energy, must be rationed to avoid running out before the end of the day. Miserandino also asserted that it is possible to exceed one's daily limit, but that doing so means borrowing from the future and may result in not having enough spoons the next day. Miserandino suggested that spoon theory can describe the effects of mental illnesses as well." 🥄Rules🥄 - All the basic Lioden rules apply. Sorry I'm a bit late, everyone. Spoonies of Lioden seems to have won the poll. ^_^ We'll be sure to make it clear in our advertising/banners/button what we are in support of, considering not all people clearly understand the term "spoonie". Today is the dawn of our first raffle! We have some great items included. A River of Blood and a Giant Tortoise are included by yours truly. The wonderful admins have included a Cape Dwarf Chameleon, a Crawly Spiders, an Aging Hyena, and a gorgeous clean primal cub! Today is the first day of the month. You know what that means? There is a new raffle for everyone to enjoy! As always, all proceeds go to keeping our spiffy little clan running.
