I'm breeding Dwarves so i may help out a bit there,,,
You can get a Dwarf Mutation as you get any one, randomly, OR there's other way! You gotta buy a female Dwarf and use a Lion Scrotum on her. REMEMBER, dwarves mothers dont pass the mutation NATURALLY so you'll need a Lion Scrotum to make it work! <3
The Lion Scrotum gives ya a 25% change of the mother passing on her mutation.

Now, in my own experience and what i do recomend -- Use, for sure, a Lion Scrotum.
BUT , before that, you can use a Cotton Root Bark, that will increase your chances (READ HOW TO USE THE CRB BEFORE DOING THE WHOLE THING-- You can pm me if you dont know how to, imma glad to help!)
So, the steps i usually use are

(1) Get your dwarf pregnant with you king and use the Cotton Bark on her, she will get a cooldown of three days i think -- ; (*)
(2) Once she's on heat again, give her the Lion Scrotum;
(3) REMEMBER that VLF has more chances of producing mutated cubs so, if you can lower her fertility to VLF, do it! (*)
(4) Give her a Buffalo Scrotum(she will have 3 or more cubs) or Grain(she will have 2 or more cubs) (*)
(5) Stud her with the king you want;

(*) means that they're like "extras" or "plus points" to have more chances!

Triton, yes, male dwarves do not pass their mutation at all - so you need a dwarf female and a lion scrotum; male can be any, he does not matter.

Getting a first gen hybrid is just luck. Breed with CRB, Lion meats, or GMOs over and over. The chance is low so just keep trying.

So you need a Lion scrot or grain of paradise to pass down the dwarf mutation? Or can it be passed down without these breeding items?

For getting any hybrid the best thing to use is a buff scrote to get a chance of 3 or more cubs. For a dwarf u would want to use both a lion/buff scrote

What if you have a dwarf king and breed to a female dwarf? Would you still need a scrote?
