So forgive me if this has already been suggested (and please link me) but I think it would be nice to tell if a breeding would result in inbred cubs. A game I used to play had a mechanic like this where you could put in two parent ID#s and it would give you a warning that this breeding could result in inbreeding. While there are no ingame effects it would still be nice to be able to check first for those of us who care.😅 How it would work You put in both parent ID #'s and click a generate button. It says either a) This pairing would result in a clean breeding! B) Warning! This pairing would result in inbreeding! (Or something along those lines) Edits: ¤It should say on the page that inbreeding has no effect on gameplay or something along those lines. If no support, I'd like to know why :) |

Sure, I see no reason for this to not be implemented. Maybe just put a notice somewhere above or under the image/stats that says "These two parents are related in some way.". Perhaps even something you could toggle on or off. The only thing I could think of is that newer players might think that it does affect it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Maybe add a note on the page that "Inbreeding has no in game effects on lions and is for purely aesthetic purposes."? Thanks for the support 0 players like this post! Like? |

Support! This would be good for replacing the 'Glimpse of the Alternate' section on the scrying stone, since changing a lion's sex is easily done in the wardrobe now. 0 players like this post! Like? |

No support from me, just because while I think clean breeding is a fun challenge to play on the side or by your own choice, I don't think it should be integrated into a part of lioden gameplay for everyone. It could confuse newbies, for one, when lioden is already so hard to understand and get into, plus, it doesn't have an in-game effect, so I don't see why it should be monitored in-game. Again, I have no issues with people electing to play it on their own, but I don't think it should be part of the game as a whole, and I also don't think it's worth the coding time to implement this, even if it is fairly easy (I have no idea if it is or not haha). No hard feelings at all, just clarifying, I respect clean breeders who take on the challenge, it's hard! I just don't think it should be allowed to majorly affect gameplay, which is a growing risk with all of the clean-driven suggestions that are popping up recently. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Thank you for your reason as to why you don't support! While I do respect and understand the reasons you've given, clean-breeding is becoming pretty popular. (Hell i started bc it's almost impossible to sell decent cubs anymore if they are inbred and also aesthetic) With it becoming a growing community of clean breeders in LD, I feel like adding this one little thing wouldn't be too awful? This could be nice for players who are opting to clean breed, to be able to do a quick check to make sure no one down the heritage line is going to clash. I've bred before thinking they were going to be alright and then opps no great great great granddad is in there twice 0 players like this post! Like? |

I've not voted one way or another but I wanted to say- if you're clean breeding you should already know if the parents are inbred or not, thus already knowing if the cub is. It's literally the first thing you do with each lion you acquire and each stud you're considering. You check their full heritage to see, and if it's not a clean lion but you want to keep it, you can easily seperate it into another cave or give them a "dirty" tag. All cubs born in the "dirty" cave stay there until you move them and so are automatically seperated. We already had the integration of a system in the heritage that auto-checks each page for you to find inbreeding. (But not the full heritage at once so you still need to click on the grandparents etc to see more.) Many people were mad about it for the reason mentioned by Kami: there is a feeling self-impossed challenges should not be implemented as game features. Personally, I feel like there is a massive push lately to take all the challenge out of clean breeding, even trying to redefine its parameters to be simpler, and it's kind of disheartening. I personally wouldn't use this feature because I deem it redundant and it would cost to use such a scrying stone feature. It doesn't take that long to check a lion's heritage, and you can do it for free. Why add a fee to something that's already quite simple? 0 players like this post! Like? I support! While inbreeding has no in-game effect, as the op has stated, clean breeding is also very popular. I feel that the whole "it has no in-game effect so this shouldn't be implemented" defense is pretty invalid since the pedigree page states if a lion has inbreeding...even though it has no effect... And sometimes a lion can be clean, but have a fairly long pedigree and adding this feature could take down the time it takes to search two lions' pedigrees immensely. Without, it could take up to 30 minutes just to determine if the two lions are compatible for clean breeding. Which also leads to the whole "this would just make things more confusing for newbies" thing... Say someone joins lioden. They see something about clean line breeding and they research what it is and they decide the want to do it. There's now a feature that they can check if breeding their lioness to someone elses king will result in inbreeding. They now don't have to figure out how to get to the pedigree page and realize that they need to click on every single lion at the end of the pedigree to make sure there are NO doubles in the pedigrees forever... Again, I support this. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Good grief, I've never encountered a heritage that long. The fact that it is so automated now massively reduces the time it takes. I can't fathom how someone could take 30 minutes to check two lions at this point. Never even took that long doing it manually (which wasn't that long ago). One or two tries is all it takes to get the hang of page-surfing through a heritage. Honestly. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think this could be nice for the clean breeders and people who like me see they have a lion that fits so/so criteria but dont offer it as the lion is probably not clean or you do your best job looking for inbreeding only to be turned anyway cause the lion is "dirty" somehow. 0 players like this post! I think something similar to this has actually been mentioned in a news post-- it's simply not feasible for the server to comb through a lion's complete heritage like this. It would take a lot of processing power away from general gameplay, especially as a lot of lions have stupidly long heritages. I don't think this would ever be implemented simply because the server couldn't handle it; it would definitely be helpful, though. 0 players like this post! Like? |
