This is an official clan thread for the Giving Tree Clean-Up Crew Clan!

Lioden Giving Tree Clean-Up Crew

What is this clan for?

As of the creation of this post, there are 1010 male lion cubs in the giving tree. This is almost 10x the amount of female cubs there, and for good reason. While there are many uses for female cubs of all varieties, male cubs are generally limited to sex-changing and kingship. This means that for the average user, the standards for a male cub are much higher. Thus, a conundrum has been created. People want to get rid of the cubs so they abandon them at the tree. But nobody really wants to pick them up either, so they stay at the tree. I believe that this "landfill" of cubs will continue to grow unless we decide to do something ourselves as a concentrated group, for as far as I've noticed tree cubs do not get deleted.

Enter the Giving Tree Clean-Up Crew. This clan (created by yours truly) is dedicated to the purpose of sacrificing our daily tree slot to remove the unwanted cubs from the tree. By doing our part whenever we can, we will "clean" the tree and make it easier for people to drop actually good males for newbies and others to pick up and heir. To further this cause, those who wish to join me should follow two general principles.

Principles of the Janitorial Crew

1. As often as possible, members should strive to use their singular tree grab for a male cub or adol. What is done with these cubs is up to the player, as long as they are gone from the tree.

2. Members should refrain from worsening the problem at the tree and should actively choose not to drop male cubs unless they themselves would enjoy receiving them.

What are benefits of being part of the clan?

Technically, players could purposefully choose to help the tree on their own and do not "need" to join the clan to do so. However, this is likely a difficult choice to make as it is directly a near-daily sacrifice. To this end, I propose that if this clan gets enough members and a following, I myself will donate and also accept donations of nice-looking female cubs which will be raffled off to clan members with minimal entry fees to balance out the loss of all the potentially nice girls people could be grabbing. Clan members can also donate SB, items, and food to reward each other for taking on this mission. If we motivate each other, it will be easier and more fun to tidy the tree.

It is probably easier to tree if they have a lot of cubs or adolescents, but maybe instead they can stop taking care of them if they don't want it, or sell it as fodder? But I guess they want to free up space quickly.

Regular chasing doesn't cost energy and the cubs/adols don't end up at the tree. I'm not sure why people decide to abandon rather than chasing. Maybe they feel bad for completely deleting the cub or adol from the game? I mean, at least with a lioness, they might end up in someone else's pride through explore. So where else could the males go other than getting deleted?
Idk

(Tbh I kinda feel bad when chasing or reserving cubs because I dont have space for them )

I mean, after 3 days the lions left at the tree get deleted anyway, right? That's what the wiki still says. So maybe they just yeet them at the tree and hope for the best, then by the time the 3rd day comes they imagine it has a lovely new home somewhere

I didn't get on until later today (9 am LDT) and I was shocked to see the number of female cubs - when I went to bed last night ~9PM LDT there were 959 and now 12 hours later there are 110 (!!!) and female adols went from 91 to 0. I am sure some hit the rollover deletion age but certainly not all of them could have.

Meanwhile male cubs dropped by about 150 (not much given that they're still over 1k) and male adols just keep climbing ... which they will probably do for much of the May event as people chase off groupies.

Meanwhile I took my 3 sad cubs today from the tree and did my part, lol.

Chasing is different from abandoning
They are both free but chasing deletes a lion from the game right away.
It's honestly the better thing to do as it creates less server trash.

Pretty much me. I'm the only real admin/mod of this clan and I run the raffles. You can either message me or find me on Discord to talk about donations. I prefer to see them before I accept them, but I am not terribly picky as long as they are girls.

the female cubs dropped because someone claimed they were dropping a pon at the tree at 8am lioden time so there was a HUGE rush to grab it... dunno who got it lol

i wonder if I announced I would be dropping a male ferus at the tree, would everyone rush to nab a male cub? (not actually gonna do it, just wondering...)

hm... knowing TwoSword (the user), i think they would have but I'm pretty sure tree cubs are picked up in chronological order (if they were dropped earlier, they'll be picked up earlier etc.) so idk if anyone has nabbed it yet...

It's actually a good plan to clean out the tree by dropping a valuable cub and telling everyone.
Although if you're right about it going in chronological order it could be deleted easily because no one got to it in time.

Also with the sheer volume of male cubs there now it's a super slim chance a person would get that particular one.

I haven't seen anything about cub order. Is that a Help post answer somewhere?

If it is in random order there's still a pretty slim chance that just that cub you chase is the one who gets picked. At least among a thousand other cubs. It's kind of sad :/

I get attached to my cubs, and thought about one thing. If one wants a nice home for their cub, even if you chase the cubs instead of reserve or kill them and they're not nice enough for someone they're probably gonna end up as fodder. I'd much rather abandon or kill/reserve my cubs to decrease/increase my karma than let them take up a spot in the tree just to get deleted.
That was worded terribly, and really sad but it's just my thoughts.
