so, I used to draw all the time. from age 4 all the way through my teen years, I drew nonstop. I wasn't bad, I just wasn't incredible.

I stopped at around age 15 because of mental issues, and I havent drawn since. today, maybe because of the nostalgia of winter ( I always used to love drawing in the winter) I had a weird urge to pick up a sketchbook and pencils and draw. I remember how calm it used to make me feel, and I usually liked the finished result.

I used to love drawing big cats, so I did an anatomy study of a head. it didn't go as well as I hoped, and im not proud of the drawing. im certain I could've done better before my very long hiatus, but ive gotten a lot worse.

any tips on how to get back my muscle memory so I can at least start with a little skill again?

I would do a load of drawing exercises to get back into it! There's a lot of tutorials on YouTube to help you out, I usually start out with doodling random rubbish, lines, scribbles, circles.
Fill up a page with circles and lines, try to keep the circles as round as possible, differentiate the weight of the lines as you go. These really help me! I mess around with colours and random texture brushes too (if you're working digitally) or just grab whatever you can find :)

^^ I'm going through the same, just started drawing again after a couple year break. I honestly agree with ginger, looking at tutorials and such helps. I was never amazing at art (I'm told I'm fine, but eh) and I've never taken an art class, so what I know comes from watching vids and tutorials, and trying my own ideas and twists. Wish you luck on future projects! <3

Just don't be afraid to make mistakes, and make something shit. What you're creating never has to be perfect :) there's no such thing as a perfect piece of art! It's all subjective to the viewer after all :P
