Ooh! I support! We could make it a rare, randomized encounter with multiple different extinct animals + rewards that could pop up. Maybe not in March, since we already have the Mukombero encounter -- but maybe in November, due to the shamans?

What popped in my head was a Lion King-esque encounter, where there's a pool of water with the watery image of some extinct animal. The thylacine, like you said, could be one where when it shows, you can get a decor (common) or an applicator (rare). Other things that come to mind is, for example, an EXTREMELY low chance for one with an extinct lion subspecies, like the cave lion or american lion, that gives a breeding item or MOD or some other similar item for a new mutation.
