Hello!

Look. I love the gorilla enclave. I do. But we just aren't getting rid of enough cubs. The market is still saturated.

So I have an alternative solution... make Killing or Nature-Reserving more important than just a karma boost -- which has essentially no purpose unless you are karma-farming.

EXP

For each lioness you kill/nature-reserve, you should get 10 exp. Not a lot, but still some.
For each cub, you should get 5 exp.
Additionally, I'd like to decrease the energy associated with killing/nature reserving. Instead of 5%, it would use 3%. So with 30% of energy, you can get rid of 10 instead of 6 lionesses/cubs.

Kill

With each KILL, there should be a chance of a drop.
Primary drops for Killing are pelts. The color of the pelt dropped would depend on the lioness/cub's base genetics (red, black, cream, gold).

Nature Reserve

For each NATURE RESERVE, there should be a chance of a drop.
Drops would be "Tufts of Fur"... When you send a lioness or cub away, it could read "NAME left you something to remember her/him by". The color of the tuft dropped would depend on the lioness/cub's base genetics (red, black, cream, gold).

Other Drops

Implementation

Obviously, if we do add eight new bases, it would be a little much in one sitting. Ideally, the drops would come at one time, with the addition of exp rewards. The bases would be released one or two at a time. If we add two bases, I think that they could be released at one time.

Either way, to increase the base popularity, it would be beneficial if they could either eventually be incorporated as factor bases OR could combine to create their own combo bases..

Eventually, this idea could be developed to include the eight bases listed, as well as craftable markings, eyes, skin, and decor.

I dont support this because, I feel like it would mean a lot of larger prides would just kill or reserve their unwanted lions instead of giving back to the community
The amount of people willing to give new accounts free lions would go down a lot and I dont think that would be good for the community.
I agreed at first, until I realized this. I like the idea, but It would need safe guards so not too many lions that other people would be happy to own would be killed?reserved.

Maybe the chance of getting any good items would be really low? so its not really a guarantee of anything? I dont know.

@Snowkit -- One person's giving back to the community is another person's last resort/due to a crashed economy. People shouldn't give their lions away because they can't even sell them. It isn't fair to newbies to give away practically worthless cubs; as well, giveaways are so commons that you can rarely go 10 minutes in main chat without one. It isn't special anymore.

People should give back because they want to. I can't imagine somebody would kill a mutie or a super special base just for a chance to get an item that can be crafted into an uncommon base. With that being said, I get so many umbers, sepias, and sheduas that I literally cannot give them away anymore. There are so many on the market, and the enclave doesn't take them.

I do see your point, though. That's one of the reasons that the bases that would be crafted would ONLY be uncommon. The user could decide that it isn't worth it to kill nice cubs to only get uncommon bases or 5 exp. However, the market is so, so saturated with cubs that even nice cubs are worthless. With reference to your comment, the suggested drop rates will be adjusted to be lower.

I think i personally would be MORE motivated to start a giveaway if i knew that the cubs likely wouldn't just end up getting killed off anyway— i think the amount of giveaways currently just makes it easy for people to take lions and then get rid of them by selling them for too cheap anyway. I sell my extra lions as fodder because i don't want my low-value cubs to flood the market anymore than it already is being flooded. I think this would just make the quality of giveaways better, which would outweigh the decrease in amount of giveaways, in my opinion.

That is also a good point, Kami. I think that, by eliminating so many potato cubs, you have the giveaways left that really help support the community, rather than just throwing out cub after cub after cub.

I like this idea a lot! I never kill \nature reserve my cubs since I don't really care much about karma... I usualy sell them or abandon them but if there was that kind of reward I would most probably kill or nature reserve them!

No support because this just adds more applicator/craftable bases when in reality what the game really needs is more breed-only bases.

Thank you for your feedback! While I do agree that we do need more breed-only bases, breed-only and craftable are NOT mutually exclusive. And we definitely do need, in my opinion, some craftable common/uncommon bases, rather than the 4 million special bases we have now. Furthermore, to help encourage purging, these bases can eventually lead to breed-only bases. This can also lead to more craftable markings and decor, too, though.

I believe all common/uncommon bases excluding NCL exclusives are applicable using the base applicator, correct? Are you suggesting we have a whole other type of common/uncommon bases?

Sorry! I should have specified that these were excluded from the base applicator. I actually am, though! In the same way that all breed-only except cloudburst and nadir bases are rare, and in the same way that cloudburst and nadir cannot be added via the base applicator.

As I said above, breed-only bases using these as accessable factors *would* be ideal for me, to increase the drive. However, if this is something you are very, very strongly against, what else would you prefer? Perhaps markings or decor? Maybe mane colors?

I wouldn't be opposed to decor or maybe one special applicator base, though drops should be rare to keep its value high. Do you think this would negatively affect the giving tree and make abandoned cubs scarce?

The original thought was actually just two applicator bases -- one for Killing (originally a cream base) and one for Reserving (originally a gold base). That was changed to eight uncommon bases from a previous comment. Of course, with any suggestion, this is in development. What would you suggest the drop rate being? Would you want the same drop rate through all rarities, or fluctuating as I have described above? In my mind, anything that would be crafted would necessitate a very high amount of this stuff. E.g. a base would require 200 pelts/tufts, a decor would require 80, and a marking would require 150.

Personally, I don't think abandoned cubs will be affected too significantly. If anything, I think that fewer people will be disappointed by their finds at the tree. I also think that it will help stop the constant giveaways and help *raise* the price of all cubs in general.

What came to mind first when you mentioned drops was Trophy crafting. The applicator maintained value throughout the event because of the rarity of the drops compared to Hibiscus, whereas the drops are common in explore and so many were crafted suddenly.

A combo of totally new items being dropped + making them rare (not sure about percentages) would be ideal.

I still don't quite understand how this would work through different rarities. Are there applicators for uncommons/commons/rares or not?

Trophy crafting was the original inspiration. I will edit to remove the items used in trophy crafting so that these bases are unique with their materials.

With regards to dropping through different rarities, the applicators themselves will be either uncommon (8 bases) or rare (2 bases). What I mean with the rarities is that killing/reserving common cubs has a 5% chance of drops, uncommon has a 10% chance, rare has a 30% chance, and special has a 50% chance of dropping a pelt/tuft.

I think having uncommon bases as applicable but separate from the base applicator is just confusing!
