It had been a nightmare to even be alive in the toxic world. A tragic infection had spread around the globe, infecting everything it touched- including the creatures. They grew mutant a frothed at the mouth, craving flesh of their own kind! But two brave dogs faced this apocalypse head-on.. literally! A young Australian shepherd was charging through each zombie, oozing black blood splatting all over his eyes. Not good- another dog was not far behind him, his German shepherd friend was running holding a pistol in his jaw. The brown shepherd ran toward a lone zombie, head held low- but the zombie crouched as well and as the shepherd hard ran past she scratched the dog’s snout before chasing him over the road.

The two dogs bolted off of the road and into a bush to hide- the dumb zombies had no idea where they went and slouched off to search the car the dogs had been traveling in… finding the owners still trapped inside, and started eating them. “No.. NO! This wasn’t supposed to happen!! Why? Why world!!” The young grey shepherd angrily looked down after standing up and trotting away. It wasn’t anger though, it was fear. “Leach, they may be gone but you still have me and we NEED each other to survive. Please.. don’t let yourself down.” The brown dog sat up as well, walking over to stand with Leach. “What.. what is this Oren?” Leach whispered as he wiped his tears to find it was that same black ooze as it dribbled down from his face- Oren tried whipping it off- “Leach.. this is zombie blood..” the same blood seeped out of the scar on Oren’s snout on dripped onto Leach's coat as they both sat down cuddling each other, wide-eyed.

“We.. are we infected?” Leach announced quietly as he lay down in the grass and Oren sat beside him. “I think so..” It hadn’t been long before the zombies came back over to where they were hiding, forcing the dogs to walk through the forest and try to navigate their way out before nightfall. Leach kept glancing at Oren’s scratch and decided to use some of his clothing as a bandage for him. “We should keep heading East, there’s a town nearby- COMPLETELY zombieless plus, they might have an antidote!” Leach narrowed his eyes as he shot a look at Oren. “We can’t!! Don’t you see! WE are the zombies now!! We are infected!! Who knows what’ll happen to us there- or.. we probably won’t even make it there in time with all these rests..” Leach sighed silently, whilst they both kept walking through the woods.

Oren had felt that there had to be SOME sort of cure for them both, a herb of some sort or a medicine. Or- .. the bad thoughts spread through Oren’s head quickly as he thought about never being able to turn back, and becoming a mind-controlled zombie forever. Hurting, killing, and infecting all his family and friends.. but he just wanted Leach to feel better. Leach’s stomach went sick as they both approached the small, uninfected town. The lights flowed bright and warm and the dawn shine fell into darkness and they both looked up at the moon, relieved.

Leach happily Trotted down the slope first as they both wandered down I to the mysterious town. Many of the townsfolk looked down and immediately noticed that they were infected, and slowly becoming more and more mindless. The village healer was sent to Leach and Oren as soon as she’d heard what was outside- she slowly healed their infection over the days- but, it was worth it in the end as Leach and Oren were themselves again. Playing around happily in their new home.
