About mid july i started mass breeding for the new ncl eye colors, trying to integrate them and their breed only fails into my pride. At first i didn't think much about the numbers of cubs per litter, and just assumed it was bad luck...until it kept happening. Eventually i had to stop mass breeding because the energy+nesting wasn't even worth the one cub that was most likely a potato anyways. I ended up asking on chat- and found out that this isn’t something only i noticed.

Honestly i don't even want them raised by much, i just want 2 cubs to be more common than 1 cub. Otherwise it feels like breeding without items is worthless, and it would be hard to support a pride if i had to buy buffies consistently for even three of my ladies.

If your a newbie who joined after june this year i don't expect you to see this as anything but the norm, but please know that in my experience litters have never averaged this low even naturally.

Instead of limiting litter sizes maybe (if its for cub control) increase mortality rate? If its due to a flooded market place, then maybe limit max trades a user can have at a time? If its a numbers thing i feel like there are better ways to handle it than this.

EDIT
Its now August of 2022 and i can tell the same thing is happening again after being fixed, for that I'm just going to bump this post a bit. Feel free to comment the ratio of litter sizes yall get when ultrasounding your ladies (minus breeding items), i only have my numbers on this and I’m curious.

no support, not with the cub market the way it is. TC is already inundated with thousands of potatoes. (although I do understand your frustration, being that i'm currently mass-breeding for a project and the 1-cub litters are killing me too)

would love to see something like this implemented if there was some bonus to getting rid of potato lions year-round.

i do support, but like parlaymars said, there needs to be maybe a little bit of bonus for yeeting cubs, and not just a karma-sway bonus. this is not a gripe with your initial suggestion!

I support and agree with the implementation of some kind of incentive for destroying unwanted cubs.

The way it stands now, I actively avoid using any kind of apps on my lioness because it simply isn't worth it. They don't produce enough cubs in their lifetime for me to bother spending the GB to customize them. It would be nice to feel like there was at least a chance they could pass on something desirable but without using items to boost the litter sizes it's pretty much pointless.

Also avoid high-priced studs for the same reason... So, maybe increasing litter sizes would benefit this market as well.

I know it isn't the main point, but it's a definite side-effect of 1-cub litters being the norm.

It feels like I'm stifling my gameplay because I don't want to "waste" resources on anything but my main male and I don't think that's how we're supposed to feel while playing..

you both make excellent points. changed to support; it's not this suggestion i don't like, but the market as it is currently

"it's time for lion's-name to move on. they leave you [5sb, a feather, junk] as a parting gift."
ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SEND lion's-name FAR AWAY? YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO GET THEM BACK.

- lion is deleted
- lion is deleted from father & mother's cub lists

would love to see everything about the lion wiped, which would undoubtedly cut down on unwanted lions' records (images, etc.) taking up space in lioden's servers.

also the ability to mass-send away, lmao.

if all that was done, i would love to implement two cub avg litters

I mean, I yeet my potato lionesses on to become chased lionesses when they age up, and the unwanted males get yeeted to the Tree, so I'd also love to have bigger litters be more of a norm. Though, I do wish sometimes that yeeting a lioness or male didn't always erase all evidence of their existence.

I like the idea of higher cub litters.

People complain "But the Market!" The market is already trash. Even new marks and rare bases and mutations sell for crap. I bred for some very new rare marks for a time, and they WOULD NOT SELL. I can barely even give them away. Spent so much money and effort on studs, just to have the cubs get chased.

I think especially when using an Instant Birth Feather, cub litters should be guaranteed 2+ and should never ever be one cub.

"But there sill be too many cubs!!" or "The tree is ruining the market!"

If people are worried about the market being ruined by the abandonment tree cubs, put a limit on how many cubs can be sent to the tree per day, and how many marks they have. I mean, really, potato 1 mark cubs should not be sent to the tree. 4 marks or better, no more than 5 per day would be vastly more reasonable. Flush the rest of the potatoes.

The Gorilla is a good way to get rid of cubs, but sadly, thats 1 cub per 24 hours. (Dont get me started on the counter) I understand they want effort put into for the rewards given. Totally understandable. But there needs to be a better way to flush cubs out of the market, and a reward system is a very good idea. Im always looking for nesting material. Overflow cubs giving a reward, like feathers or toys would be an excellent way to get rid of potatoes.

That’s a great idea, Slade. There should be a mechanic by which potato cubs are traded for feathers or other materials.

I would definitely support, most of my litters are 1 cub, I'll check the numbers, but it's not good

Since July 1st here are my stats:

(Updated)

1 cub: 26
2 cubs: 7
3 cubs: 1

Support, but mainly bc I like the idea in the replies of more incentive for getting rid of undesirable cubs. Maybe to stay in line with lore, the Enclave could take unwanted cubs in exchange for a little bit of SB or amusement items as a seperate feature to the cub quests.

Updating my stats:

1 cub: 34
2 cubs: 14
3 cubs: 4

I feel like since I've added to this post I've been getting more 2 cub litters

yeah please they need to fix this....Nature reserve or killing is an easy eraser for the potatoes you don't want.. idk why people don't use them more but giving us 1 cub per lion makes no sense. its like there's a constant lioness infertility event going on and I don't understand why because if you google real life rates of breeding the average is 2-3 cubs. I'm dying inside lol

Definitely support. I’m sick of one cub per litter with so many lionesses.

Just wanted to drop my two cents here.

Currently, no support from me.

The market is, and has always been, crap when it comes to lions. Been playing since 2013 and this isn't a new issue. Litters have always been on the smaller side, and selling cubs has always been miserable, although more bearable with the advent of the TC years ago. The giving tree is.....nice I suppose, but doesn't solve the issue of potato cubs. Enclave is good, but not often enough.

Instead of upping cub rate, we need to focus on rewarding getting rid of potatoes. Not giving them away, not yeeting to the tree; getting rid of. If we up the cub rate, what will that help? Just more of a flooded market with more potato cubs. Even if it resulted in you getting better cubs from your litters, good luck getting eyes on them with the 1000s others now also being born and put in the TC.

I do not think we should reward SB for getting rid of cubs. Been harping on the flooding of SB in the market since way back when, and I still feel no different. Too many ways to get SB, not enough ways to spend it.

If anything, if you chase a cub (maybe not even call it chase since people seem to harbor negative/sad emotions towards it), maybe reward with some sort of nesting material item. Great for those mass breeders needing nests, or selling or crafting if you don't need it for nesting. Perhaps the Gorilla Enclave could offer an option to take in any sort of cub at no max daily and would offer herbs in exchange for, say, each 5 cubs. This would cut down on the lack of supply of herbs, but still offer a reason to get rid of cubs (in a somewhat more positive manner). Maybe they could even offer a "voucher" of sorts to spend at the Monkey Business for X amount of SB or items.

These are just ramblings, so hopefully they make sense.
