Backstory
The Earth is untamed and relentless, now relinquished from the death grip of humans who died out due to their own insolence a millennium ago. Only a few major civilizations remain. Not those of humans, but rather humanoid cryptids, too strong to be snuffed out by the diseases that ravished their weaker relatives. Now with the Earth freed from man's grip, those beings that were lost to myth and legend began to crawl out of their hiding places.
All was well for generations. The colonies of shapeshifters and werewolves prospered in their newfound liberty. That is until larger, more dangerous, creatures began revealing themselves. They picked off smaller colonies of the humanoids, destroying entire families in their wake. With the looming threat approaching and food sources being decimated by the relentless beasts, tempers began to run high between the werewolf and shapeshifter groups. Unrest and suspicion kept them from banding together and, inevitably, greed was the end to many of these populations.
Present Day
Two separate groups of shapeshifters and werewolves have been chased from their homes, many of them falling victim to the teeth and claws of fiendish lesser cryptids. The few remaining survivors have been forced to join arms, now displaced from their home and on the run from the creatures in the dark. They move from place to place during the daytime, ever fearing to get caught without a light source. Quiet turmoil still rumbles between the lycan and therian members, spurred by their ancestor's quarrels. Word has spread through the nomads that a secure civilization still lies to the far north, though much terrain and dangers lie in their path. Can they overcome their differences and reach safety, or will they all become prey to the beasts in the night?
