Currently, it’s difficult to tell whether a specific giveaway advertised in the Giveaway chat has been completed. I have an idea for a way to inform chat users quickly that a giveaway has been claimed, preventing them from wasting their time composing a message to the poster and helping the poster avoid an influx of PMs.

A “strikeout” feature that giveaway posters can use to strike through their message when the giveaway has been claimed may be the best and most efficient way to keep Giveaway chat clean and easy to read. This feature could be found on the same button users use to ping, block, copy, and flag messages. That way, posters will not be bothered with extra PMs and chat users will not waste their time on giveaways that have already been claimed.

Example situation:

A poster advertises a free lion in the Giveaway chat. One minute later, a user notices it and PMs the poster. Having gotten a response, the user strikes through their Giveaway post to avoid getting extra messages and sends the lion to the user. Another user opens the Giveaway chat and, seeing that the previous Giveaway is struck through, doesn’t PM the poster.

I get what your idea is getting at, but the easiest thing is just allowing pings. Or maybe a combination of this idea plus pings

good suggestion, this makes it so they don't have to make it so people can ping [especially if they want several lions in a row]

i see what you're suggesting, and i agree that the giveaway chat needs STRONG revisions (or be removed altogether), but some users may forget to strike through their giveaway when it's completed and that just brings us back to square one.

i'm still going to support since the giveaway chat needs a lot of work if it's going to stay.

However, a strike method isn't very practical. As suggested above, some people *WILL* forget to strike out their messages or in-between the time of them doing this, they're still getting loads of messages. People who decide to give away lethals or even hybrids will get HUNDREDS of messages between the message being sent and the strike. This is also problematic and in general pings are 100x better as you see who WON and there isn't ANY favouritism or people accusing the person giving away of lying about who won.

This ALSO still makes it so people have to spent so much of their time messaging people back and saying that they didn't win as you can't exactly ignore them; there's also those people who will pester you until you reply if you do that method of ignoring any messages that weren't in time.

The method is good, but extremely unpractical in general. If pings are refused to be implemented this is definitely the back-up option.

This thread also needs more attention lmao
