HUGE support. the giveaway chat is inconvenient within itself, but when you add the "PM only" rule, it just will become a huge chaotic mess. No one will be able to tell if they PM'ed for the lion first, some people have lags/slower internet, and also won't be able to tell if a lion has been claimed since they can't physically see anyone "ping" for the lion.

Honestly no support sorry I have given away things before in main and it did kind of clog it with the pings but now its going to be what its meant to be a main chat so no support sorry

Support. I'm a mobile user and making an entire forum post or refunded trade is inconvenient when I just want to quickly offer up a lion.

I also don't want multiple people in my inbox asking for one lion, then having to turn them away individually.

support, the giveaway channel is rarely ever used with about 1 message normally happening per 1-10 mins. It calms the problem of the PM clogging and confusion.

There is no reason to not support this as it has NO effect on any of the other channels, and it's a channel specifically for giving away, so there will be no issue with clogging. A lot of people have stated that this is the main issue, of course with less major issues revolving around it as well such as the chat itself and that the chat will die without giveaways [and it will, and already has].

When supporting a topic, it's best to view it as how it would benefit the community on lioden; I can guarantee that a lot of the players will leave due to the giveaway chat. It's inconvenient and people would rather kill their lions than use the chat. I would.

Giveaways were only a good asset because people had to ping to get it, so what if it was a TINY competition.


It's not fair for people to have to have their pm clogged constantly just to give away some lions. And owners will be harassed by people who don't get the lion bevsue there is no evidence that they weren't first.

Support! Also, many lions will be chased, killed, or nature reserved long before anyone sends a PM. Sometimes it's almost rollover and you realize you have adols aging up, and it's nice to check if someone wants them before tossing them to the void. Additionally, pinging is the easiest way to determine who "won" the giveaway -- whoever pings first gets it. Finally, when I was a new player I was pretty hesitant to PM people or even post in the forums; I got a lot of my favorite lions from lovely people giving them away in the chat, and I love giving back to the community by posting quick giveaways as well. I think the separate Giveaway chat will be great for new players, but only if it's alive. Pinging keeps the chat alive. I mean, just look at Help chat... *cricket noises*

100% support, if the issue was giveaway spam in main chat, there's now a dedicated channel just for giveaways, so the spam issue is moot.

Giveaway chat currently is like a second sales chat, when I think it should be like a “second main chat” for lack of better phrasing. it wouldnt be casual chatting (obv), but pinging should be allowed! Its kind of.. dry right now, and i will not be using the giveaway chat to give individual lions, because i hate getting my pms filled with garbo—such as 50 people asking if the same lion is available when its already gone.

Some users also feel that this is invasive because they are automatically directed to the PMs, when users would like to keep them empty or for friends/important things only. I don't think the giveaway channel was a bad addition at all, but the way it is represented and the rules themselves are what the community hate. The timer is a pain in the ass if pings are allowed after this; because then people can't ping for several lions in a row; and it's only FAIR that they get a good chance as well as anyone else because how are they supposed to know if someone is giving away a hybrid or a valuable mut?

IF we get pings implemented, we need to get the timer removed as well; but the same rules apply in other channels as it does in giveaway as a condition [this means you can only re-post if your message is not viewable in the first 10 messages].

I'd suggest adding that the timer be removed into your thread so it's not then creating ANOTHER thread for it; that is a pain to the mods; they may as well get it all done with.

When you giveaway something, often many people want to get it, so you get many PMs and you have to message them one by one to let them know they were not first to PM. Pings for giveaways should be allowed in the giveaway chat, as it makes it obvious who pinged first. Those who didn’t win can automatically see it!

Though I agree that chat games shouldn’t be allowed. Only like, “first ping for [thing]”

Highly supported. Sometimes you just need to quickly get rid of a lion and I HATE DMs, especially when I have to constantly turn them away. The giveaways channel is a great addition to the site but to not allow pinging makes it pretty worthless. I hope they change it, it’s now too much of a hassle to gift someone with a free lion

Yes, please. I get not allowing "guess whatever to claim" games in the channel, but there's really no reason a simple ping to claim shouldn't be allowed. The channel's pretty much pointless without it.
