I fully support this, not allowing pings was a bad decision on the lioden teams behalf, no one will know who’s pinged first for a lion, especially if it’s a hybrid or mutie you are giving away you could be looking at 1-20 PMs you are going to get and have to go through, and you will have to message all of these people back, some of which will reply and it just creates a chain reaction no one wants, it also allows users to pick and choose who gets the item or lion as we will now never know if it’s genuine or not. I do understand some people did not like pings due to slow Internet or being a slow typer but when you actually do manage to get something even with all the odds against you it’s exciting. And if it weren’t for pings then I would of never got my first mutie. I think we need pings in the giveaway channel as pings in my opinion were the highlights of giveaways and otherwise the giveaway chat will just die. Much like the help channel has

SUPPORT!!, tho i will respect what the moderators chose to do, Pings in giveaway chat will be /way/ more convenient for people whose internet is slow and it's hard to PM fast enough. i've been there and it's horrible. Tho I also stand by the fact when pings were in mainchat it was chaos whenever a dwarf or really any good mutation (such as piebald, etc.) I found it frustrating so I think having pings be a thing in giveaway chat and giveaway chat /only/ would be a really nice idea!

Honestly, I got a warning today for giving someone a pie. Its making me reevaluate supporting this game monetarily next year, bc I'm not gonna lose a game account I spent real money on to giving away free stuff :/
Furthermore, taking giveaways out of main chat took away a sense of community and excitement from the game.

The devs on this game are nice and pretty damn brilliant but I think the giveaway chat is the worst idea ever implemented.

Pings won't solve this, but I think they'd really help, as I don't want people PMing me for free stuff, and I feel awkward and anxious PMing people. This leaves me unable to use giveaways at all and I know several people feel the same. This community is very kind and supportive and inhibiting that kindness ruins it for everyone. At least give us SOME of our rights of play.

Totally agreed, but I don't agree on the thing about the giveaway chat itself. The idea centering it was good, and the issue with it being in main chat is that it clogged up the channel at times or some users were so inpatient they couldn't wait 2 seconds for their message to disappear before being like "omg I'm going to kill it then" and it's disgusting.

All those that don't support this idea and don't give a reason, imo, don't have a valid vote as there is no reason that pigns can't be implemented, and the fact people don't support it and refuse to give a reason why is so unhelpful to work around how they're unhappy about it.

Come on guys, if you're not gonna support something give a reason why because it doesn't help us develop the idea so that we can try and make it so everyone likes the idea.

As said by the host themself and others, pings in the giveaway channel will not effect anything and it's a chat that is clogged with giveaways, so the pings literally won't do ANYTHING to it. As I've said in a few other threads, think of the community and how it supports/affects it instead of just being like "oh it's gonna clog up the giveaway channel" because let's face it, the channel is already clogged, and with no way to say that the giveaway has been taken, and no way to determine who actually claimed it, this community is going to become Hella toxic Hella fast by people who can't accept they weren't first, or they go into chat complaining about it and call the winner names, the host names, etc. And it then starts a huge drama and newbies who have no idea whether it's good or bad to do that type of thing, might copy them and boom, we have a bad community.

Think of the long-term guys.

Well said! (Perhaps I'd like giveaways fine with a few edits? It would definitely acceptable with pings, whereas now I consider it a flat out bad game mechanic.)

Also I sincerely hope this games community stays this awesome and doesn't become corrupted.. i's the only place I've ever played where there's so many creative, brilliant, and overall friendly people in one place. I'd be crushed to see that ruined.

I agree that the giveaways needs updates, and if pings are implemented the timer has to be removed and we have to believe that people will be good and behave good and not repost several times or complain that their lion hasn't been taken.

This community has had some toxic people lately (this is mainly due to all the newbies who either haven't read the rules, or think that because they're new they can get away with being rude, etc.).

Another problem with the timer in giveaway chat is if you post the wrong link or your link gets cut off or something then you have to wait 10 minutes to fix it.

pm-only really sucks. it spams my inbox and there's no way to tell someone if the cubs already been taken. i like having a separate giveaway chat but give us our pings back please
