I understand some users were annoyed by the flood of giveaways and pings in main chat, and I do not think the new Giveaways Chat is a bad idea altogether. However, restricting claims to PMs is counterproductive because it makes it harder to actually give away unwanted lions or items to people who would use them. Many lions will be chased, killed, or nature reserved long before anyone sends a PM. Additionally, many people messaging for something that has already been sent to another account will create spam in people's inboxes. Allowing pings in Giveaway chat will solve this problem.

Sorry if this suggestion is redundant, I understand the feature is very new and likely will be tweaked.

EDIT: please let me know why you don't support, I am curious!

This suggestion has 36 supports and 2 NO supports.

Fucking agreed man
I'm set on NRing or killing any lion I don't want because of the new giveaway system; I don't want people in my pms for a simple giveaway; even if there is a thread option.
The 10 minute cooldown options, however, will INTERFERE with this.
Like in the other chats, there should be a rule where you wait until your message can no longer be seen [even if you're posting about something else] before you re-post/advertise something else. Messages that don't comply will be deleted like every other channel.
The 10 minute timer was a waste imo.

I completely forgot about the 10 minute timer. I think it's really dumb. It's a giveaway thread, not a trade thread. What is there to complain about?? The more giveaways the better, right? Genuinely confused.

I also think that whoever suggested it likely didn;t get many votes, or it was just a complete dev decision. But it's either the chat is completely revamped or it's removed due to the amount of people who giveaway, and people who HATE the new giveaway chat.

Note: for pinging for an item/lion, you can send multiple messages, the rule where your messages have to be unseen to post again isn't for them.

Definitely support, especially for people with fuller inboxes. It seems like disallowing pings and even chat replies in general creates unnecessary hassle around finding recipients. This is also going to lead to more Giveaway forum clutter when people forget to delete their threads. Many giveaways rely on a first come first serve method, which can be ruined if the giver doesn't realize their inbox is full or more users PM them than they anticipated when giving out a few assets, the quantity of which not really warranting a forum post.

fully support, i don't want to have to message every person who didn't get to the lion first that they didn't get it in pm, it's just more work overall

Fully support this - I literally just posted in the news that if the issue was ping spam in main chat, since giveaway chat is specifically just for that, pings should be allowed there as a compromise that would probably make everyone happier with the change.

(1) finding recipents items/lions is already often difficult. When there is no way to see if the giveaway is already finshed many wll simply not bother to enquire. Pings make it visually clear when an item/lion has been claimed.

(2) forums and messages are hard for newbies to navigate- and they are the ones the game's giveaway culture most benefits. In a game as slow to progress in as this giveaways are often the kickstart for a player's growth and the new system disadvantages those who need giveaways most.

(3) ping claims are 'messy' but have littered main for years. Why the fuss over them littering a dedicated chat?

(4) ping claims make giveaways convinient and appealing for givers as well as recipitents, givers should be enabled and the caring, giving, strong community of the game nurtured not stunted.

(5) ping claims show without argument who the first to enquire and therefore rightful winner of the giveaway is in 'first come first serve' situations, avoiding arguments and dispute. PM systems leave givers open to harassment.

For those who weren't in chat when it was asked about recently:

Okay. All I’m going to say is that we’re aware no one likes the ping update. It’s being discussed but considering it’s the holidays it needs some time
