Hello yet again! I have a gorgeous new base to share with yall! It is based off the Monarch Butterfly! It will likely be red medium countershaded! It is so pretty and fun! if it's meant to be based off a monarch butterfly, and is named after one, I'd expect to have at least a few white spots, and those are main traits of the butterfly along with the black patterns and orange wings. ![]() |

There is a fine balance between a base and a marking, adding white would most likely cross the boundary of base and turn it into a marking suggestion, seeing as the white of a monarch is amongst the black. Less is quite often more. ![]() |

Even so, I wouldn't associate this with a monarch butterfly personally because the white spots make it more recognisable as an idea that is surrounded around the butterfly type. And giving it literally a few spots wouldn't make it a marking suggestion, we have loads of bases that look like they have markings on them and there's no issue with them. ![]() |
