Sheana is an isolated town. It's people closely guard their unique secret - the Merfolk. They have been befriending and keeping Merfolk for generations, and use them as guides for grand adventures out to sea.

Their Merfolk are known as Coastal Merfolk, friendly and chipper creatures who are well-accustomed to human presence. If you want to do anything in Sheana? You need a Merfolk friend.

Merfolk come in several subspecies (far more than just Coastal) and I do plan to release at least a couple more, but for now, we're starting slow.

Coastal Merfolk average at about 2.7 metres, with 2/3 of the their body length just being tail & fins. They're known for their bright and shiny scales, and social demeanor. They live in pods and are one of the only subspecies known to form super-pods (upwards of 35 members). Like all Merfolk, they are hermaphroditic.

Their fins are loose and flowing, and they only have two fins on the ends of their tails and webbings between their fingers. Their tail fins are reinforced with thin strips of cartilage running from base to tip.

They have sharp claws and fangs, and pupil-less eyes. They have no noses, instead relying on hearing, which they access through fatty tissues in the jaw rather than ears. They also have no 'hair', in the human concept - they have sensitive barbels that can be mistaken for hair, that pick up vibrations in the water and can move of their own volition.
