-LOCKED - Marking Opacity During Breeding | |
Posted on 2022-04-30 14:33:19
Due to some oversight on breeding mechanics regarding the passing of markings (as reported in this bug topic), there has been some misleading information passed down over the life of the game. We want to rectify that today, change how it works for a more friendly solution, and give our deepest apologies for not catching it sooner than today. Before today: When breeding markings, there was a 75% chance of a marking passing if both parents had a matching marking in the same slot, otherwise 50% chance of a marking passing. Once a marking passed, its opacity would then be averaged across the parent's opacities for that slot, and then randomised with a -10 to +10 range. Here is the oversight: if a marking's opacity dropped to below 1% due to the randomisation, the marking was then removed. We are changing it to this: When breeding markings, there is a 75% chance of a marking passing if both parents have a matching marking in the same slot, otherwise 50% chance of a marking passing. Once a marking passes, its opacity is then averaged across the parent's opacities for that slot, and then randomised with a -10 to +10 range. If the marking's opacity drops to below 1% due to the randomisation, it will be corrected to 1% and will remain on the lion. Additional information: * If a marking's opacity rolls over 100%, it will be corrected to 100%. It has not changed, and has always worked this way. We're really sorry this happened, and we'd like to thank everyone for all their input. We hope going forward this will be a reasonable solution. 4 players like this post! Like? |

I always thought there was something off about the way markings passed. Because it makes no sense for a king with 20 markings bred to a lioness with 10 or more to get cubs with 1 or 2. I'm so glad I upped all my kings markings all these years... But I thought it was just Lioden ignoring it's own genetics rules like it does with Albino cubs. Because it makes even less sense for two non-Black based parents to have a Black-based cub. 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 01/05/22 @ 01:42:46 by Rhaegar - The Raven King (#25467) |

Thanks for changing it! I thought it worked like that already, but that does explain why the markings I pushed down to 1% to hide them yet still give them a chance to pass rarely actually passed. 0 players like this post! Like? |
