-LOCKED - JULY EVENT! | |||||||||||||||||||||||
Posted on 2022-06-30 22:52:46
The July event launches on July 1st at 00:00am LDT, and will end on July 31st at 11:59pm LDT. All unused event currency will be stored on your account until next year. July Event - PremiseIn explore you can gather unique Meteorite Shards. They become a new special form of "energy". Starting immediately on July 1st at 00:00am LDT, you will be able to access Celestial Explore, where you can use the charged Meteorite Shards to move across the space-time. A new map will open, which we will expand upon every year or so to add in new zones. This year, you will be able to access the world of the Draco Demiurge - the Draco Constellation. Celestial Explore is not affected by Earth's day and night cycles, nor is it affected by dry and wet seasons. Each explore step in Celestial Explore costs 5 Meteorite Shards. You can battle and encounter alien beings native to this zone in order to collect a new currency, Axion Cores. Battles use normal energy and do not deplete your Meteorite Shards. Speaking of battles, there's something a little special this month. Each normal alien enemy that you encounter in Celestial Explore can count towards a hidden bar. When you defeat and win against 10 alien enemies, you will then encounter a boss enemy. This boss enemy cannot be skipped—even if you click past them, the next enemy encounter you get in Celestial Explore will always be a boss. You can use Lucky Feet on normal alien enemies, but not boss enemies. The bosses are powerful, but they do give out better rewards. Whether you win or lose against a boss, the counter will restart again. You can build this counter up and cycle through it endlessly throughout the duration of the event. The battles do not have to be sequential, either. If you win against a normal enemy, then lose, then win again, your counter will still go up and will not be interrupted or affected by your loss. You do not have to win 10 battles in a row to encounter a boss. Going back to the event's currency, Axion Cores can be spent in the Draco Demiurge Exchange shop, which also unlocks upon reaching Tier 1 of the Meteorite Shards collected bar. This currency is also necessary to enter the Celestial Raffle, which is available when the Meteorite Shards collected bar reaches Tier 2. July Event - Tiers of the Meteorite Shards BarThe bar is a global collective of all players gathering them on the site. Tier 0As soon as the July event starts, Celestial Explore is unlocked, which is available on the Event page.New In 2022 * 2 new backdrops * 12 new variables * 2 new Prismatic bosses * 11 new enemies * 8 new encounters Note: 2 previous egg encounters were removed from Celestial Explore. Tier 1Tier 1 unlocks the Draco Demiurge Exchange, which can also be found through the Event page. This new shop contains both new and old backgrounds and decors. There are no tiers to this shop, everything is available to purchase as soon as it unlocks.Tier 2Tier 2 unlocks the Celestial Raffle, which is unchanged from last year. The mechanics are identical to previous years.Every 12 hours, a new lioness will appear with a base, eye colour, and a marking that are unique to this month! You can pay 5 Axion Cores for a chance to impress her. There will be a 50/50 rotation of Type 1 and Type 2 Celestial lionesses. There is no set order, it is random which type will be generated. Type 1 will have the Prismatic base (new for 2022), Neutron eyes (new for 2022), and a random Celestial, Leonid, Sidereal, Skyward, Sunset, or Stratosphere marking in any slot. Type 2 will have the Celestial, Leonid, Sidereal, Skyward, Stratosphere, Sunrise, Sunset or Dawn base; Dawn, Draconid, Galaxy, Starshine, Sunglow, or Stellar eyes; and a random Dawn marking (new for 2022). The Prismatic base has Red Dark Solid Special genetics and is tied to Dusky skin. Neutron eyes are a new Celestial Raffle eye colour. They are not a factor for Cosmic eyes. We will start a new set in the following years. Neutron Genetics: 50% Neutron, 10% Sapphire, 10% Blue, 10% Aqua, 10% Starshine, 10% Fog. Gem: Star Ruby will now be able to be crafted into an eye applicator! Star Ruby Genetics: 50% Star Ruby, 10% Tyrian, 10% Pink, 10% Red, 10% White, 10% Albinoid. Dawn markings are the new Celestial Raffle marking set. The shapes are as follows! * Dawn Dapple * Dawn Lace * Dawn Margay * Dawn Shine Tier 3Tier 3 unlocks the "Murder Stone"—or, as we will call it from now on, the One-Way Portal. Mechanic-wise, it is unchanged from last year, and is identical to previous years.When you give up a lion, you will receive a wonderful reward for sending the lion to the Celestial world. Rewards are the same as they have been, and are randomised as usual. Remember that we cannot bring back a lion you've sent on accident. There are many confirmations, though. It's best to give special names to lions that you intend to send through the portal. To send a lion through the portal, they cannot be pregnant, nursing cubs, in a reverse breeding, set as a broodmother, offered in a trade, offered in a raffle, on a trade cooldown, cannot be frozen, cannot be secured, cannot be hunting, and cannot be patrolling. Cubs cannot be given up. Even if you chase a lioness's cubs, the mother is still considered as nursing until 5 days of cooldown pass. The One-Way Portal does not affect your pride leader's karma. Backgrounds
New in the Oasis The new background in the Oasis this year is Massive Wormhole, inspired by us planning to expand the Celestial map next year! Crafting and Gems Under Decor Crafting in Monkey Business, crafting will be available right away. This month's favoured gems are Celestite, Jasper, Labradorite, Meteorite, Moonstone, Peridot, Howlite and Star Ruby. We will give you a nice update to July's crafting during the upcoming Development Update on July 8th, but for now, we can confirm that Star Ruby eyes, a Meteorite mane colour, and maybe even a Howlite base are coming for sure! Wiki Information Our Wiki Team will be updating the July event wiki page with all new content and information as soon as possible. If you would like to review the retired July event, a wiki page also exists for this here for any newcomers and older players alike to reminisce on older times: https://www.lioden.wiki/july-falling-stars This is your yearly reminder that the Pulsar base can be bred again! What's unique about Pulsar is that it can ONLY be bred during the month of July, with the following factor bases. Base Factor 1: Arctic, Pulsar Base Factor 2: Anjeer, Blazing, Inferno, Prune, Pulsar Outside of July, you can only breed Pulsar x Pulsar to produce more Pulsar lions. Keep in mind that Pulsar is not technically affected by or tied to the event. Whether you participate in the event or not, you can breed for Pulsar using its factors starting immediately on July 1st at 00:00am LDT up until July 31st at 11:59pm LDT. Again, outside of this timeframe, you can only achieve Pulsar by breeding Pulsar x Pulsar, or using Crunchy Worms on Pulsar lionesses. As a reminder, the Interstellar base is applied using the Interstellar Remnants applicator. This applicator can be found while exploring in normal African biomes, and only if you come across a successful Meteorite Shard encounter. It is a very rare drop, so if you find it, congratulations! You can also earn this applicator by completing the Journey to Vredefort Crater. This epic quest can only be taken during the month of July via the Adventuring page within Crossroads. Once you take this quest, you can finish it at any time of the year. There is no time limit for finishing the quest. However, once you complete the quest, that's it—you cannot take it again, it is once per account. Check out the Journey to Vredefort Crater guide on our official Lioden wiki! StorylineThe Civil War comes back...Note: As we have re-enabled the old storyline but kept the new mechanics of the July event, we will try to merge the lore between the July event and the old storyline next year. Note: Pending mutation files for July's content will be uploaded by the 8th! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Not gonna lie, I have dreaded this even for an entire year! Last year it felt unbalanced and the enemies was to hard even with a decently good king and different fighting styles, I even planed to not bother with the event at all.. However! Adding the old story back and having it be a part of it all, and I assume changing the enemies a bit as well because I now am able to actually win at least sometimes have made it feel a lot more balanced again! :D Even if you didn't add the old story but made something completely new it would have been a good addition but it IS really nice to see the familiar characters ^^ Great work on updating this event 0 players like this post! uhhh is it only me or does the boss fight thing seem to be a bit broken?? as in, it doesn't reset - I just encountered 4 bosses in a row and yes, I fought against them (and lost miserably lol) 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Blue They're definitely broken. I had the option of using a lucky foot on the first one I found. 0 players like this post! Like? |

First and foremost, wow am I glad the storyline came back. Love the lore-tie in that we finally got with the celestial raffle to make it make sense. We got the beloved Menhit, it was great. Very good. 10/10, thank you blessed admins for listening to us. Now, I'll preface this with I put this on the other thread. I have some criticisms about this event that I've observed, and I wanted to put them here too. I think the big issue at large with this event is that battling simply is not fun. I've seen a some people here complaining in the chat and in the forums, and in this news post, that the battles are too difficult. I also see the fact that there is a guide on the best strategies to take down each enemy, but... It's not fun. There's nothing intuitive or challenging about the battling system. You don't come out of a battle feeling accomplished, and I don't think a lot of people are battling to have fun in this game. I know a lot of people who avoid battling entirely unless it's an event like this. There's no real fun to be had or reward in this battling system as a whole. Yes, you get event currency during an event like this. That does have a small reward. But notice how a lot of people are using the term 'grind' to get the event currency. That's what it is. It's a slog. Even if you go through and win each battle, there's little merit in leveling up. Unless you play for stats, it's sort of a 'whatever'. Leveling up isn't a reward. The only reason to get to dreamboat with impression is for the raffle lioness and to be able to claim nicer NCLs. And once you're beyond dreamboat, you just get a small stat bonus, which, once again if you're not playing for stats, it's not a big deal. I think the last little slap in the face is that the currency that you can collect from the battling system is also capped at 5k SB, which is a drop in the ocean when it comes to 'wealth' in this game. Yes, the economy should be taken into consideration because a game like this is also inherently an economy simulator. You can't ignore that. But the system as it was a few hours ago was BROKEN. It even broke regular gameplay-- You could battle forever without energy, so you could theoretically create a giant stat monster in July. It was a stat breeder's dream. With the event sort of being disjointed now and all over the place without a lot of explanation or storyline as to why there are dragons, why your lion is in space in the first place, it's just leaving me going 'why?'. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we brought back the civil war because it gives us some fun characterization, and a lot of people love to have npcs that they can interact with. But one of the reasons that we 'revamped' the old July event was because there was too much going on without much tie in. I'd argue we're right back to that spot-- I'm just scratching my head wondering why we replaced a fan favorite month with some out of left field aesthetic that sort of seems like an excuse to draw cool dragons (and they are cool looking!). So, we've got a strange thing going on with the story and lore for the event which sort of leaves so much more to be desired, on top of a battle system that isn't fun as the basis, and a 'paywall' (collecting shards) to even be allowed to use the not-so-fun system. I think most people want the infinite shards back because it at least stops the 'I need to grind currency to then grind for currency in a really boring way'. But it does end up breaking things. TL;DR: Old event was fun and made sense, this one still does not make sense, still hasn't had new content in that actually... makes it make sense, and battling is boring. Playerbase does not want to deal with boring grind. edit: lmfao i got the king of the news achievement for this. that is so fucking hilarious. 0 players like this post! Like? As a small addition, I think a big improvement to make the Civil War storyline a bit more... friendly... and add reason for the dragon could be simple. You could make it so Apedemak is trying to raise his home and create a new, perfect one with the dragons, and Menhit and Apollyon are trying to stop him. That could help with the current triggering content in this storyline while breathing life into this event and using what we have-- Just a thought! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hope I'm not spamming, but: So, I checked out the guide to see the best way to fight these guys. I went 'you know what, maybe I am doing it wrong. Maybe there's a strategy that makes this more fun'. There are 40 enemies to battle in this event. Out of those, only 10 of them have moves that are effective against them. And it is always a single move. ALL of them have at least 1 move, if not 3 or more, that are not effective against them. So the strategy just remains to keep spamming a singular move, because it doesn't look like most of them have any sort of strength against bite. It's... really boring and not fun still. Unbalanced fights that are bland to begin with. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/07/22 @ 15:11:42 by Bluie | quad strat (#73136) |

Really happy to see the civil war return - missed seeing menhit and apollyon last year ! the new prismatic base is very pretty too. I like the option to do quests in the civil war story and not have to rely on battling as the only way to get AC. the rng is really tanning my hide in celestal explore. 0 players like this post!
